Requirements and qualifications
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, other Engineering or equivalent qualification from recognized universities /academic institution.
  • Possess at least fifteen (15) to twenty (20) years of working experience in the reservoir and petroleum engineering disciplines in the oil and gas industry, preferably with an operator.
  • Essential experience in reservoir and petroleum engineering including surveillance and studies.
  • Experience in understanding well behaviors and reservoir performances.

Job Opportunity – Drilling Superintendent / Senior Drilling Engineer / Drilling Engineer

We’re sourcing for qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

Work Based: Kuala Lumpur.
Estimated Duration: Until 31 December 2025 (with possible extension)

  • Co-ordinates the overall efforts of planning, and operations strategies while obtaining all necessary approval or authority from the company.
  • Manage engineering team members in preparation of Basis of Well Design, Drilling Program, Section Guideline, Logistics Management Plan and other relating documents.
  • Manage the Operations Dept. team in the well-site supervision of all drilling and well construction activities:

(i) adherence to well programs and instructions.

(ii) adherence to safety and environment laws & regulation.

(iii) management of service company contractor.

  • Manage the Operations Dept. team in drilling support operations:

(ii) crew movement.

(iii) supply chain management.

(iv) drilling programs/AFE approval from the government.

  • Manage drilling operations proper coordination through:

(i) conducting coordination morning calls – offshore teams and onshore operation team in the office to report the progress.

(ii) providing input into well programs.

  • Assists developing and monitoring the Health, Safety and Environment plan under liaise with Company’s HSE team, rig contractor and key service providers.
  • More than 15 years’ experience in oil industry & drilling activities.

Senior Drilling Engineer

  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for the preparation of operating procedure for successful drilling operation.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for the preparation of BoWD (Basis of Well Design) for planned wells by drilling engineering software ex. Landmark.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for the creation of tender process specifications, the selection of drilling service providers and materials suppliers.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for specific recommendations for specific equipment and materials to be ordered to contractors.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for developing WP&B and AFE documents.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for carrying out data analyses to enhance learning effect in future operations.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for closely monitoring daily drilling operations and initiating the processes of MOC whenever necessary.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for interfacing with logistics staffs to stay abreast of daily activities and provide insight, advice and suggestions to them for day to day safe and efficient arrangement.
  • Act Drilling Superintendent during his leave.
  • More than 10 years’ experience in oil industry & drilling activities around Malaysia region.

Drilling Engineer

  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for the preparation of operating procedure for successful drilling operation.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for the preparation of BoWD (Basis of Well Design) for planned wells by drilling engineering software ex. Landmark.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for the creation of tender process specifications, the selection of drilling service providers and materials suppliers.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for specific recommendations for specific equipment and materials to be ordered to contractors.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for developing WP&B and AFE documents.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for carrying out data analyses to enhance learning effect in future operations and develop EoWR (End of Well Report) post drilling operations.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for generating operational instructions, closely monitoring daily drilling operations and initiating the processes of MOC whenever necessary.
  • Provide advanced drilling engineering expertise for interfacing with logistics staffs to stay abreast of daily activities and provide insight, advice and suggestions to them for day to day safe and efficient arrangement.
  • Act Sr. Drilling Engineer during his leave.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in oil industry around Malaysia region.

Job Description

The Drilling Supervisor position will work as a member of the Wells team and is responsible for the execution of the WL4-00 and SK304 drilling programs (3 wells/90 days). These programs include the preparation, execution, abandonment, and after-action reviews of the wells. Spud of the first well is planned for the first Quarter 2022.

The Drilling Supervisor will:

  • Begin rotational work approximately 2 weeks prior to spud date to prepare for drilling of the well and will be working on a 28/28 day rotational basis.
  • Be onboard the rig prior to rig move, providing direct offshore-based supervision of the day-to-day operations and supervising contractor personnel when carrying out drilling, completion, well testing, and abandonment operations. Coordinating all aspects of Well Operations activities to ensure that wells are drilled in a safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible manner, adhering to all company core values, corporate fiduciary requisites, and policies, and country legislation.
  • Report to the Drilling Superintendent onshore.

Primary Function / Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for safety and environmental awareness with all offshore company/contract staff such that operations are carried out in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Conduct safety and environmental audits on the rig.
  • Be a visible and proactive safety leader to all offshore personnel.
  • Lead offshore Drilling Team during the well execution phases. Provide supervision and direction to the drill crew and rig service personnel to ensure that rig operations are conducted in accordance with applicable programs/procedures and that safe work practices are always followed.
  • Produce and distribute Daily Orders to ensure detailed instructions are issued to the team offshore. Ensure work plans are communicated and understood by all involved personnel.
  • Maintain and distribute a 12-day lookahead to ensure personnel, logistics, vessels, and helicopters are managed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Exercise leadership and judgment in dealing with emergencies; act as an expert resource in well control situations.
  • Ensure that equipment and procedures are in place to deal with emergencies and unexpected deviations from the well plan.
  • Ensure optimal deployment of wellsite resources and logistical support by planning ahead for likely operations and contingencies.
  • Ensure good communication between office, logistics base, and rig.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and critique service company activities.
  • Continuously identify ways to reduce costs and improve work program effectiveness without sacrificing safety, quality, production rates, or reserves.
  • Provide technical recommendations, support, and advice to the following: Drilling Superintendent, Drilling Engineers, G&G, Drilling contractor management personnel, service company personnel, and Completion Engineer(s) and Test Engineer(s) where applicable.
  • Mentor and develop rig site drilling/completion/production engineers where applicable.
  • Ensure that all safety, regulatory, and environmental guidelines are followed.
  • Ensure that all corporate policies and practices are maintained and adhered to.
  • Provide office-based operational support as required.

Special Skills, Training, and Certifications:

Must hold a valid BOSIET Offshore certificate (OPITO approved) and Offshore Medical approved by Petronas for Offshore Malaysia, IWCF or IADC well control certificate for Drilling Supervisor.
