Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison for all technical infrastructure delivery activities for assigned projects, under the guidance

Qualifications

Overview

A Day in Your Life at MKS: A Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team supporting manufacturing of high power plasma products in our Penang, Malaysia facility. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for transferring, installing, and improving build processes for remote plasma source and ozone products. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through rigorous analysis and providing your team with the necessary tools and mentorship to document and analyze manufacturing issues. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support new model introductions and continuous improvement initiatives. Under your leadership, the team will excel in creating efficient and consistent processes for transitioning new products from the NPI center to high-volume production.

You Will Make an Impact By
  • Establish manufacturing processes for current model and new model introductions, including estimating manufacturing costs, determining time standards, and making recommendations for tooling and process improvements
  • Use Lean techniques (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Kaizen, SMED) to refine and streamline production processes for new and existing products
  • Use problem solving tools and statistical techniques to understand anomalies, identify causes, and drive corrective actions
  • Collaborate with quality, production operations, design engineering, supply chain, and others to identify and resolve product and performance issues
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and develop a Lean Manufacturing culture throughout the manufacturing, assembly, and local suppliers
  • Coordinate the transfer of NPI products and legacy high-volume production processes into international and/or regional production facilities across MKS's global footprint
  • Interact with site leadership, key customers, and/or peer department managers as needed on business process development and problem solving

Skills You Bring
  • Bachelor of Science in (IE/ME) with 7+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams involving project management, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement
  • Experienced in manufacturing tooling and processes to develop line layouts, capacity planning models, training programs, and status reporting

Position overview

Reporting to the Critical Services Manager, the Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the mechanical infrastructure and systems of our hyperscale data centres. This role ensures the continuous and efficient operation of mechanical systems, upholds high standards of safety and compliance, and supports the Critical Services Manager in strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will lead a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, ensuring the delivery of critical mechanical services 24/7.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical System Management:
    • Oversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems within the data centres.
    • Ensure all mechanical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, and fire suppression systems, operates reliably and efficiently.
    • Implement and maintain mechanical safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

About the role

Responsible for the development, optimization, and sustaining of wafer back grinding processes for semiconductor devices. What you will do:
  • Process Development:

    Develop and qualify wafer back grinding, stress relief, and cleaning processes for various wafer types and thickness requirements.

    Define and implement process parameters for thin wafer applications (e.g., ≤100 µm).

    Evaluate and introduce new equipment, materials, and process flows to meet future technology nodes.

  • Technology Transfer:

    Support technology transfer from R&D to high-volume manufacturing (HVM).

    Collaborate with external manufacturing partners (e.g., OSATs) for process alignment and capability matching.

  • Process Optimization:

    Lead yield improvement and cost-reduction initiatives through process tuning and design of experiments (DOE).

    Develop and implement SPC and FMEA for robust process control.

  • Problem Solving:

    Implement corrective and preventive actions in coordination with quality and failure analysis teams.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

What you will need:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Microelectronics, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in wafer-level packaging or back-end semiconductor process development.

  • Strong knowledge of wafer thinning, tape mounting/demounting, dicing, and post-grind cleaning.

  • Hands-on experience with back grinding equipment (e.g., DISCO,).

  • Familiar with thin wafer handling and warpage control methods.

Core Responsibilities

  • Understands the project specific specifications and requirements of the assigned project (may include Construction, Commissioning and Offshore assignment) and Industry Standard, Classification Society and Regulatory requirements.
  • Develops design philosophies, engineering specifications, PFD, P&ID drawings, data sheets, calculations, and equipment sizing specific to the assigned project and validates them with the Lead Engineer.
  • Independently evaluates the process aspect of all the bids received for packages from various suppliers, involves in technical bid evaluation process to ensure that selected vendors meet technical/engineering requirements as stipulated in the project specifications and gives assessment in consultation with Lead Engineer to the Package Engineer.
  • Independently prepares the technical reports (flare & blow down, flare radiation, processsimulation basis, heat and material balance, process control description, utility summary, line list, and set point list), safe chart and Process C&E for the assigned project.
  • Independently develops solutions to technical/engineering and related problems by analyzing the issues/data, interpreting the analysis and evaluating various options/measures using experience, precedents and professional references.
  • Participates in safety meetings, explains the process system to the committee and closes the observations and recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Participates in key stakeholder (Client / Supplier / Sub-contractor / Class) meetings, reviews stakeholders’ documents and addresses interface/implementation/execution issues, and escalates where necessary to ensure that the project proceeds timely and smoothly.
  • Provides technical/engineering support and advice to Construction/Commissioning work at site, trouble shoots and follows up to rectify the gaps or problems. Where necessary, provides off-site support and advice.
  • Is responsible for capturing lessons learned in his/her functional area, entering in MIMS, andclosing out project related MIMS actions.
  • Guides junior Engineers

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering; diploma holders with significant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant process engineering experience in oil & gas for degree holders; 12 years for diploma holders; 6 years for Master’s degree holders.
  • Familiarity with industry and company standards, specifications, and procedures.

The work is in a highly collaborative and multi- functional environment, handling several projects at a time. The successful candidate will be an experienced Quality engineer who ideally has Mechanical, Electrical and Hardware Quality Assurance expertise and will be experienced in Quality management systems, Data analysis techniques and quality assurance methodologies. Reporting directly to the quality vice president. The role will require occasional travel.

What you will do

You will be responsible for OEM product quality from new product introduction through sustaining. Being comfortable in a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment coupled with excellent communication skills are essential to the role. You will foster and build an excellent communication and working relationship with our global Stripe partners.

  • Define and implement BBPOS quality management in OEM factories.
  • Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues resolution.
  • Define and Implement Quality assurance processes for our in house developed Hardware solutions (both for our Shop floor system Hardware and for BBPOS Product Test & Diagnostic bundles).
  • Lead quality readiness review and monitor quality result during new product introduction builds.
  • Drive continuous Quality improvement plans across OEM's
  • Establish a system of metrics to continually drive and supervise measurable quality at OEM.
  • Drive the use of statistical analysis for key Quality data across the team.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure CTQ (Critical to Quality) parameters are agreed and documented for new product activity.
  • Drive Quality input to design for manufacturing activities.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional peers on key business initiatives. Actively participate in these discussions in a transparent manner and bring data and value to these initiatives based on data and knowledge from your team.

Who you are

Minimum requirements:

  • Education background from BE, BS or MS in Engineering
  • At least five years of experience in implementing hardware Quality assurance methodologies to prevent quality issues from sneaking out of the factory.
  • Knowledge of FATP (Final Assembly, Testing, Packing) for a POS reader or similar products such as phone or tablet electronic products.
  • Basic Lean principle and methodologies as PDCA, 8D Problem Solving, Kaizen, Mistake proofing, DMAIC, FMEA, etc…
  • Root cause analysis skills and with robust corrective action understanding for problem solving.
  • Familiar with critical to quality control, and implement statistical quality process control and risk mitigation plan to ensure quality.
  • Able to develop and implement OEM quality process audit checklist for continuous quality improvement.
  • Proven track record to understand all aspects of Quality and to be able to lead and influence Operations and Suppliers.
  • Familiarity with Hardware failure analysis techniques.
  • Fluent in Malay and English. Chinese language skills are a plus but not mandatory

Preferred qualifications :

  • Basic SMT (Surface Mount Technology), PCBA(Print Circuit Board Assembly) background
  • Quality qualification would be an advantage

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Product Engineer specializing in Radio Frequency (RF) chips. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting factory operations by training personnel, optimizing test processes, and driving yield improvement initiatives. This position requires deep technical expertise in RF semiconductor testing, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Factory Personnel Training:
    1. Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for factory personnel on RF chip testing methodologies, equipment, and best practices.
    2. Create detailed documentation, including test procedures, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
    3. Provide hands-on support to ensure factory teams are proficient in operating test equipment and interpreting test results.
  2. Yield Debugging and Improvement:
    1. Analyze test data to identify yield-limiting factors and root causes of failures in Broadcom RF chip production.
    2. Collaborate with design, process, and test engineering teams to implement corrective actions and improve yield.
    3. Perform detailed failure analysis (FA) to isolate defects and recommend process or design changes.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    1. Communicate yield trends, test results, and improvement plans to stakeholders.
    2. Support new product introductions (NPI) by providing testability feedback and ensuring smooth ramp-up in production.
Qualification
  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, with a focus on RF chips (experience with RF chips is highly preferred).
  3. Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, including signal integrity, noise, and impedance matching.
  4. Proficiency in using semiconductor test equipment (e.g., ATE, oscilloscopes, network analyzers).
  5. Experience with yield analysis tools and statistical data analysis (e.g., JMP, Excel, or similar).
  6. Knowledge of failure analysis techniques and tools (e.g., SEM, FIB, EDX).
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and mentor factory personnel.
