A manufacturing engineering manager is responsible for the overall function of the manufacturing processes for a company. In this role, you need to lead the Manufacturing Engineering Department, which includes New Product Introduction, new line setup, product transfer, process development and optimization, continuous improvement, engineering change control, etc.

- Facilitate Kaizen events and other Lean activities for continuous improvement.
- Support new business pursuits by participating in the design phase and leading manufacturing during the Product Development Process (Phase/Gate).
- Drive standardization of manufacturing processes.
- Lead automation initiatives for new and existing programs.
- Oversee team capability development.
- Define the manufacturing process technology roadmap.
- Conduct training and coaching for Manufacturing Engineers.
- Manage conflicts between customer program execution and standard product capability growth.
- Establish and review ME KPIs regularly.
- Perform other assigned tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or automation.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent oral and written English skills.
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in CNC precision parts machining and electro-mechanical assembly environments.
- 5+ years of NPI and engineering management experience, including leading teams.
- Expertise with Lean / Six Sigma Manufacturing, 5S, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO9001, QS9000, and IATF16949.
- Motor manufacturing experience is a plus.

Summary
The Chemical Solution Lab Manager oversees the daily operations of a chemical laboratory, ensuring efficient preparation, analysis, and management of chemical solutions while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role involves supervising staff, managing inventory, maintaining equipment, and optimizing workflows to support research, academic, or industrial needs. Solves complex performance and operational issues to improve manufacturing processes. Oversee design development, production and testing of product and processes. Lead and/or participate in efforts to reduce the operating costs, improve quality of the products, implement best in class and efficient manufacturing processes using tools such as Lean and Six Sigma. Provide technical leadership in fields such as chemical, solution preparation as well as best manufacturing processes and product manufacturability improvements. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Laboratory Operations Management:
- Oversee the preparation, testing, and analysis of chemical solutions to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with specifications.
- Manage lab resources, including chemicals, reagents, and equipment, ensuring proper inventory levels and timely procurement.
- Schedule lab activities, including experiments, equipment use, and staff assignments, to optimize productivity.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments (e.g., YSI, Viscometer, pH Meter, weighting scale) to ensure accurate results.
- Solution Development:
- Lead the design and execution of experiments to develop new chemical solutions or improve existing formulations.
- Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to stakeholders or management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, quality assurance, production) to align lab activities with organizational objectives.
- Quality Control and Documentation:
- Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols to ensure chemical solutions meet required standards.
- Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in compliance with industry standards (e.g., cGMP for pharmaceutical labs).
- Prepare and review technical reports, SOPs, and documentation for audits or regulatory submissions.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals in compliance with OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
- Monitor and enforce laboratory safety standards, conducting regular safety audits and training staff on SOPs and emergency procedures.
- Maintain accurate records for regulatory compliance, including chemical inventories and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Supervise, mentor, and train lab staff, including chemists, technicians, and assistants, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and provide feedback to support professional development.
- Recruit and onboard new team members as needed.
- Manage the lab’s budget, including expenditures for supplies, equipment maintenance, and staffing.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.

Detailed Description- Oversee end-to-end NPI activities for PCBA, ensuring smooth transition from design to mass production.
- Collaborate with Internal DFM team and customer, manufacturing peers, and suppliers to meet DFM/DFT (Design for Manufacturing/Test) requirement
- Resolve technical challenges during prototyping, pilot runs, and production ramp-up.
High-Mix Low-Volume (HMLV) Process Expertise
- Optimize PCBA processes for HMLV environments, ensuring flexibility and efficiency.
- Manage BOM optimization, component obsolescence, and alternate sourcing strategies.
- Work closely with internal equipment team to ensure quick changeovers and minimal downtime.
Yield & Quality Improvement
- Develop PFMEA and implement poka-yoke solution, technical action (Jig/fixtures) to improve first-pass yield.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for PCBA failures and implement corrective actions.
- Establish quality metrics and drive continuous improvement (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean methodologies).
- Deep knowledge for root cause analysis
Cost-Saving & Lean Initiatives
- Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities, Material, overhead reduction without compromising quality.
- Implement **Lean manufacturing** principles to eliminate waste in PCBA processes.
- Optimize inventory management for HMLV production through good yield to reduce bonepile inventory.
Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Mentor Engineers and technicians for manufacturing teams.
- Collaborate with Test engineering, Operation (Production), and QA teams to ensure product reliability.
- Communicate technical and project updates to senior management.
- Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
- Experiences: 8+ years in PCBA manufacturing /NPI, including 3+ years in leadership.
- Proven track record in **HMLV manufacturing, yield improvement, and cost reduction**.
- Expertise in IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-7351).
- Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, stakeholder management, and data-driven decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Manufacturing engineering for PCBA assembly.
- Knowledge of **thermal/mechanical stress analysis** for reliability.
- Background in Industrial and Test measurement product compliance .
- Stronger PCBA Process / NPI focus*– Added end-to-end ownership of prototyping to production.
- HMLV expertise – Highlighted process flexibility and supply chain challenges.
- Yield/quality/cost – Explicitly called out Lean, Six Sigma, and RCA.

As a Manager I, supporting Process Engineering, you will be primarily responsible for leading a team to design, develop, and implement efficient production processes, ensuring productivity and compliance with regulations at Johor, Malaysia. In this role, a typical day will include:
- Lead the calibration team to provide calibration support for all equipment, machinery and instrument in the plant to ensure all registered items remain in calibrated state
- Perform calibration datasheet/ certificate review, IMTE registration and support ad-hoc calibration activities.
- Arrange and monitor 3rd party calibration activities such as request quotation, raise purchase requisition (PR), follow up PO progress, service request report closure, shipment progress, arrange schedule for on-site calibration job and deal with vendor for any calibration issues
- Lead improvement projects for continuous improvement such as cost savings, process optimization and improve process efficiency
- Investigate persistent quality issues of the calibration process , IMTE and provide appropriate Corrective/ Preventive actions
- Assist Manager for yearly budget planning, monitor department spending and ensure on time submission of monthly forecast spending to Finance in monthly basis
- To be responsible for training (eg SOP, annual refresher), Initial Qualification/ Requalification , annual curricula review and coordination with QA Compliance
- Establish and ensure SOPs and documentation are compliance with Data Integrity, OSHA, ISO 13485, GxP, and other applicable international regulations

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will assist in executing engineering projects by producing essential documents and developing chemical process simulations. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESAssist in executing engineering projects by producing essential documents such as basic process flow diagrams (PFDs), equipment sizing and specifications, heat and mass balances, utilities and consumptions, P&IDs, operating manuals, automation descriptions, and HAZOP studies. You will work closely with the Process Department Head of Department (HOD) and maintain frequent contact with other departments, customers, and suppliers.
Cooperate with the reporting line for project execution planning.
Be part of a team responsible for all technical and process-related matters in our Oleochemical Department.
Develop chemical process simulations using company-provided software.
Participate in site surveys, pre-commissioning, and plant start-ups, and carry out troubleshooting on-site, producing detailed reports.
Be present on-site for start-ups or troubleshooting at customer installations, gathering valuable feedback from industrial practice to extend our process know-how and continuously improve our product lines.
Address health, safety, and environmental issues.
Support Desmet in process design for any company technologies, R&D, standardization processes, and sales activities.

The DMY Oleochemical Department is currently managing a significant workload, with a list of critical projects in DMY and other affiliate offices requiring basic engineering design. Many of these projects may occur simultaneously, creating a sudden need for additional resources. In 2025, DMY will also execute commissioning activities for two major Fatty Acid Complexes, which may require support from the Oleo Team.
Given these demands, we believe it is crucial to start the search for an additional Senior Process Engineer now. This proactive approach allows us to conduct a thorough search and avoid last-minute compromises on candidate quality due to urgency. REQUIRED PROFILE- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in the Oleochemical industry, or alternatively, in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Knowledge of Chemical Simulation Software such as Chemcad, EDR, and HTRI (while important, proficiency in these is not a strict requirement).
- Strong understanding of basic engineering calculations, including but not limited to line sizing, safety valve sizing, exchanger sizing, and pump sizing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is considered an added advantage.
- Excellent teamwork skills, a commitment to continuous learning, strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the engineering field (flexibility on this requirement is possible for exceptional candidates).
- Site experience during plant mechanical checks, pre-commissioning, start-up, and fine-tuning.
