About the Practice
This proudly independent practice is known for delivering an excellent, personalised service to its loyal client base. They offer first-opinion care across small animal, farm animal and equine caseloads, and are supported by visiting specialists when required.
The practice is well-equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, Idexx and Axiom in-house lab machines, and multi-parameter monitoring equipment.

About the Role
This is a hands-on, varied role where you’ll work across both clinical and client-facing areas. Whether you’re assisting with surgeries, prepping the theatre, monitoring anaesthesia, running in-house lab tests, or helping with consults and home visits – no two days are the same.
You’ll be a key part of keeping everything running smoothly and ensuring that patients and their humans receive outstanding care.

Your Day-to-Day Might Include:
• Monitoring anaesthesia and surgical prep
• Operating and maintaining equipment (X-ray, ultrasound, lab machines)
• Providing pre- and post-operative care
• Supporting consults and home visits
• Running in-house lab tests (biochem, haematology, urinalysis, cytology)
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and patient safety
• Helping with reception and occasional admin tasks
• Mentoring students and junior staff

Responsibilities:

1. Assist the veterinarians in day-to-day tasks.
2. Handle and restrain patients during procedures.
3. Process samples for laboratory testing and operate blood machines.
4. Assist with x-ray and/or surgery preparations, setting up the operating theatre, assist veterinarians during surgery, and clean and sterilize surgical instruments and the operating theatre post-surgery.
5. Provide animal nursing and maintain general welfare for hospitalized patients and boarders, including vitals monitoring, wound management, bandaging support, preparing food, medicating, feeding, and exercising.
6. Coordinate medical centre's waste and sharp disposal, ensuring compliance with waste disposal regulations.
7. Maintain hygiene standards in the medical centre, clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and common areas; maintain feeding utensils.
8. Maintain a high standard of patient care, build good relationships with clients, and provide excellent customer service to encourage repeat business.
9. Perform reception duties, including answering the telephone, making appointments, preparing accounts, accepting payments, and writing receipts.
10. Arrange the schedule of appointments (outpatient, inpatient, surgical, pet transportation) for each day and manage clients' ward visits.
11. Manage and prepare quotations, invoices, update the cash register, and prepare important assignments for the next day.
12. Dispense medications and provide clear and accurate dosing instructions to clients on medicines prescribed by veterinarians.
13. Maintain stock control, coordinate orders for medicines, consumables, and domestic items, keep records, and follow up on pending items.
14. Record and maintain clinical and office records, filing, and knowledge of the computer system.
15. Perform ad-hoc/other duties assigned by management from time to time.

1. At least a Higher Secondary / STPM / A Level / Pre-U, Diploma, Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma.
2. Diploma / Certificate in Veterinary Nursing / Animal Sciences / related courses will be an advantage.
3. Preferably 1 year of clinic experience, but entry-level candidates with positive attitudes will be considered.
4. Able to follow directions with and without supervision.
5. Good client care and communication skills.
6. Committed and passionate about animal care. Comfortable holding and restraining both dogs and cats.
7. Able to work in a team and multitask.
8. Must be able to work in shifts and on weekends.
