The Senior Lead Engineer, Electrical Design works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions in multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas
- Review, interpret and may negotiate customer requirements/specifications and provide customer feedback
- Lead the deployment of strategic programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
- Proactively promote industry best practices
- May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
- Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
- Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems
- Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
- Solve complex problems
- Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
- Analyze and interpret data and information
- Recommend modifications for systems
- Create reports and documentation
- May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.

- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.

- Occasional travel may be required.
- 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.

The Lead Engineer will report to the Lead, Product Engineering.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of integrated hardware and firmware solutions for innovative medical devices.
- Drive embedded system architecture, firmware development, and electronics design to meet product requirements.
- Develop control systems, PCBs, and embedded software to support both prototype and production phases.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to achieve optimized, manufacturable product designs.
- Conduct system integration, testing, debugging, and validation of hardware and software components.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance activities (e.g., IEC, ISO standards).
- Support the development of intellectual property in device design and technology know-how.
- Prepare and maintain clear technical documentation in line with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 13485).
- Engage with external partners, vendors, and suppliers as needed to define specifications and ensure project success.
- Support other engineering or product development activities as required.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in embedded systems, electronic design, or hardware-software integration.
- Strong knowledge of embedded firmware development (e.g., C/C++, Python, or similar languages).
- Experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and component selection (both digital and analogue).
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, processors (e.g., ARM), sensors, control systems, and communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth, WiFi).
- Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of relevant medical device standards (e.g., ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601-1, IEC 62304) is an advantage.
- Experience with system integration, testing, and debugging.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Minimum 6 years’ experience in electrical/power design for high-voltage substations (33kV/132kV/275kV), preferably with data centre project delivery exposure.
- Strong knowledge of HV/MV distribution systems, data centre projects, and protection studies.
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with mechanical HVAC design software such as IES is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia, or Malay is an advantage.
- Familiarity with local utility/authority regulations and procedures (e.g., TNB) preferred.

You will guide them in selecting optimal solutions, that meet their specific needs, and be integral part of project with real impact on the world.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Leading consulting engagements through completion, aligning and coaching your team from different technical backgrounds within a multi-cultural environment
- Overseeing the execution of analyses of power systems, engagements for transmission and industrial network planning, and grid interconnection studies of large generation, storage and load resources.
- Engaging with clients to work towards successful grid connection requests, highlighting potential risks and commercial implications.
- Supporting the integration of power electronic devices, renewable generation, storage devices, HVDCs, etc. into AC grids (from conceptual studies to project execution).
- Supporting the analyses of high frequency phenomena like harmonic distortion, transient overvoltage, TRV, missing zero-crossings, or inrush currents
- Engaging in business development activities by developing proposals to address our clients’ challenges and putting together the appropriate execution team
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (Master’s or Ph.D. degree preferred)
- Proven experience in conducting power system analysis in steady and transient states
- Proven skills in effectively managing a team of experts
- Expert knowledge in transmission planning and operating studies (100 kV ~ 765 kV), power system performance analyses including load flow, dynamic stability, voltage stability, protection coordination, short-circuit and transfer limits.
- Advanced skills in HVDC and FACTS applications, power transmission systems, industrial power supply concepts, power electronics and renewable generation.
- Experience in power system simulation programs (e.g. PSS/E, TARA, PSLF, DigSilent PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Hands-on expertise in programming tools such as Python, FORTRAN, MATLAB, etc.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

- Evaluate the feasibility of different solar project models that contribute to the income of SDGRE and benefit SDG.
- Develop strategic planning and business development plans with Innovation & New Ventures, Group Strategy, and Innovation Team for solar projects.
- Facilitate and manage internal stakeholders (EMS, Region) on the collaboration of solar and biomass projects.
- Review financial analyses on each business opportunity to understand the profitability of the projects.
- Identify and explore potentials of existing and future trends, opportunities, and risks within the renewable energy industry.
- Review and facilitate testing evaluation for solar projects.
- Manage people communication – liaise with SDG, SDGRE Management, and relevant business units for inputs and buy-in.
- Execute any other tasks deemed appropriate and relevant to the business activities.

Job Description:Job Summary
Coordinate and support electrical system designs and analysis for renewable energy and high-voltage projects, including conducting power system studies and grid integration assessments. Evaluate grid stability impacts and new technologies while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success. Maintain compliance with relevant codes and safety standards throughout all design phases.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design and Analysis:
- Lead the development of electrical system designs, including schematics, single-line diagrams, and layouts for renewable energy (solar, winds, pump hydro, etc) and high-voltage power supply projects.
- Conduct load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies.
- Assess the impact of renewable energy integration on the grid stability, frequency regulation, and voltage control due to optimisation proposed by the team by reviewing feasibility studies, grid connection assessments, and energy flow analysis for renewable energy projects
- Continuously evaluate new technologies available in the market to improve grid integration processes for renewable energy systems.
- Comply and adhere to all matters pertaining to Quality, Safety, Health and Environment related to the job scope, and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 in the workplace required by the Company.
Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, and project management personnel, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Review and validate design deliverables to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure designs comply with local and international codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, such as specifications, reports, and risk assessments.
Innovation and Optimisation:
- Identify opportunities for cost-effective and energy-efficient designs.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies and advancements in renewable energy and high-voltage systems.
- Innovate and implement solutions to enhance the efficiency and scalability of renewable energy integration on the grid.

QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering that is recognised by the Board of Engineers Malaysia.
Skills & Abilities- Strong knowledge of power systems, protection & control systems.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and project management tools.
- Strong understanding of local and international standards, such as IEEE, IEC, and NEC.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage teams and liaise with clients.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, specifically in renewable energy and/or high voltage power supply projects.
