A Day in the Life

The APAC Security Manager will perform the full range of security program related to the protection of Medtronic’s tangible and intangible assets, including; facility security, incident and crisis response, work place violence prevention, travel security, threat assessment/ mitigation, risk assessment, investigations, executive protection, education/ training and driving a strong security culture.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Provides daily management and coordination of all physical security activities across the region.
• Supports the Senior Regional Security Manager with the implementation of physical security policies, plans, and procedures across the region.
• Conducts remote and onsite security assessments of facilities, identifying and mitigating threats in accordance with corporate policies, standards, and guidelines.
• Represents physical security in facility projects, providing security design and managing the deployment of security controls, as well as implementing necessary standard operating procedures.
• Acts as the representative of Global Physical Security within the region to promote a coordinated approach to security matters, liaising locally with key stakeholders such as Senior Management, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Facilities, Communications, and Legal.
• Provides guidance and interpretation of security standards, practices, and programs to support regional and global business and security initiatives.
• Identifies and mitigates threats in accordance with Medtronic’s workplace violence and threat management program.
• Conducts, directs, and oversees internal investigations related to threats against Medtronic, its property, employees, or interests, in coordination with other relevant functions. Reviews and evaluates all security-related incidents and makes recommendations to prevent recurrence.
• Monitors the region for risks to Medtronic’s assets and its business operations, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Ensures that the crisis management program runs efficiently across the region. Supports the readiness of sub-regional/country crisis management teams and serves as the physical security point of contact
  
  
  

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree, ideally in security management, law, criminal justice, international relations or from a technical institution
• Master’s degree in the above fields preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience within the security field, ideally in an international corporate environment
• Relevant security certifications (CPP, CSMP, PSP, APP, etc.) would be considered as an asset

• ensure all security equipment, such as security access control system, digital clocking system, access readers, building alarm system, CCTVs, scanners, etc., are in good operation conditions to support operation needs (most hardware are currently supported by other Broadcom teams)
• be responsible for security surveillance, incident investigation & report
• be responsible for emergency response plan, emergency response team set up and related training; support crisis management & contingency planning
• stake holder management

Primary Responsibilities Manage physical security for Broadcom sites in Penang * be responsible for the overall physical security for the Broadcom sites in Penang which currently include a mixed-use manufacturing site and a finished good warehouse * be subject matter expert for all physical security needs * assist & advise leadership, both local & global, in setting and implementing of security & visitor policies, develop and maintain security training & awareness programs for all new and existing employees and on-site contractors * manage physical security guard service per Broadcom Workplace Services (WPS) strategies (currently outsource) * manage Security Operation Centre (SOC) for the Penang sites & APAC sites when required; provide regular report & data analysis leading to continuous improvements * ensure all security equipment, such as security access control system, digital clocking system, access readers, building alarm system, CCTVs, scanners, etc., are in good operation conditions to support operation needs (most hardware are currently supported by other Broadcom teams) * be responsible for security surveillance, incident investigation & report * be responsible for emergency response plan, emergency response team set up and related training; support crisis management & contingency planning * stake holder management * establish and maintain close working relationship with Batu Kawan & District Police & relevant agencies & authorities Other Responsibilities * support Facilities Manager for Penang sites, act as overall back up and on-site manager at the primary office location for facilities management activities * be responsible for the implementation & compliance to Broadcom's Environment and Sustainability Policy & Occupational Health and Safety Policy * Penang site coordinator for ISO14001 * deliver intra & cross functional tasks that are assigned from time to time Requirements * University Degree or major in security management or related fields such as law enforcement management, engineering or other areas with additional qualifications in security related fields * 5 years or more years of working experience at supervision position in security related fields or law enforcement * demonstrated knowledge or hands on experience on integrated security access control systems such as Lenel & CCure. • Organize the training for fire equipment maintenance, maintenance records and fixed-point operation inspection for fire control centre team members.

• According to fire prevention characteristics, ensure the major fire prevention department or places are covered; participate in fire prevention regulations and safe operation regulations.
• Organize trainings and fire drills for hotel team members, for fire and evacuation emergency plans.
• Create fire and safety filing systems according to the local municipal regulations.
• Collect, analyze and study hotel fire cases to improve the hotel’s fire system.
• Equip fire team members with the knowledge of fire equipment standard operating procedures and maintain faulty equipment.
• Organize job responsibility training for control and security team members.
• Oversee team members’ performance appraisals to improve work performance.
• Responsible for handling emergency accidents appropriately.
• Attend regular operational meetings to review, monitor, adjust and update the performance of the department as a whole.
• Check daily on-duty records; be well informed of the recorded information and hotel major machine room situations controlled by the Fire Control Centre.
• Carry out other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
