The Quality Engineer leads and manages engineering projects that require advanced technical expertise, applying a wide range of engineering principles across complex assignments. This role may involve supervising technical staff and supporting their development while ensuring project success. The engineer is expected to work independently, using specialized knowledge to drive improvements and solve problems.
In this role, the Quality Engineer applies quality engineering tools throughout the product lifecycle, from development and transfer to maintenance. They are responsible for enhancing product and process reliability, managing risks, and aligning with business and quality objectives. Additionally, they review Device History Records (DHR) for shipment, analyze non-conformances and customer complaints, and assist in root cause investigations and reporting.
What will you be doing?
The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in driving business improvements through the application of Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA, and other continuous improvement tools. They support product and process characterizations to improve cost efficiency and quality, while also developing the necessary skill sets for new product introductions and lifecycle management. By conducting benchmarking and implementing best practices, the Quality Engineer contributes to enhancing overall quality performance across the organization.
In the area of compliance, the Quality Engineer ensures adherence to global regulatory standards such as FDA 21 CFR, ISO 13485, MDD, and others. They support audits, conduct line inspections, and validate corrective and preventive actions to maintain high-quality standards. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with R&D and cross-functional teams during new product development, applying design controls, risk management, and root cause analysis to support smooth design transfer and robust product launches.
On the manufacturing floor, the Quality Engineer is responsible for product/process qualification, production control plans, and material disposition. They lead non-conformance investigations, CAPA management, and metrics tracking while ensuring effective risk mitigation and validation practices. This includes developing measurement systems, conducting statistical analysis, and ensuring appropriate process controls are in place to support patient safety and product reliability. The role also entails compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and may involve leading strategic or ad hoc quality-related projects.
What will you need to be successful?
The Quality Engineer role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field, with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, preferably in manufacturing or operations within FDA and European regulatory environments. The role demands strong technical skills, including knowledge of risk management, process validation, GMP/ISO standards, and proficiency in statistical tools such as Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, and Minitab. Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), troubleshooting, and hands-on problem solving is highly valued.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to interpret technical documents, write reports, and present information clearly to various stakeholders. Advanced mathematical and analytical capabilities are essential, especially in applying statistical techniques for quality improvements and decision-making. Strong reasoning skills and project leadership experience are also necessary to manage quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives effectively.
Physically, the role requires time spent on the production floor and at a computer, along with the ability to use precision measuring tools. Good vision and hearing are important for inspection and communication. The work environment is generally safe, with a quiet to moderate noise level, and travel requirements are minimal—less than 10%. He/she will manage site customer incidents with appropriate containment actions, failure analysis, and corrective and preventive actions, ensuring compliance with Quality guidelines.
YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
- Establishing quality system procedures related to the QA department, setting quality standards, ensuring conformance to requirements, and updating relevant Product Quality Work Instructions.
- Initiating Continuous Quality Improvement plans, participating in Quality Control and Assurance Plans (QCP/QAP), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and statistical techniques.
- Coordinating customer complaints and feedback through structured problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Liaising with customers on quality conformance issues, performing investigations, root cause analysis, and verifying corrective and preventive actions for in-house rejects and customer complaints.
- Using quality tools to analyze and determine the root cause of product defects and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
- Leading ISO certification and audit activities, participating in customer assessments, process documentation, training, and audits. Responsible for product quality and system requirements.
- Performing other duties as assigned by immediate superiors.
- Certifying or recertifying QA Inspectors across operations.
- Performing compliance audits and ensuring procedures are effectively implemented.
- Defining roles, responsibilities, and training needs for subordinates.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Quality Assurance, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Over 3 years of experience in quality or similar roles in electronics manufacturing.
- Proactive in continuous improvement of yield and quality metrics.
- Data-driven decision making and reporting skills.
- Experience in process risk management and validation activities.
- Providing supervision and technical guidance to QA Inspectors/Leaders.
- Good knowledge of quality management tools such as SPC, Minitab, FMEA, Control Plans.
- Ability to work independently, with a strong sense of urgency and analytical skills.
- Experience handling customer complaints professionally.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and a positive attitude.
- Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both spoken and written.

Job Description- Maintain and improve/automate/digitize as needed, the Quality Control Management System (QCMS) to manage product quality and conformance in accordance with JDE guidelines and product specifications.
- Ensure Food Safety of all manufactured products by implementing the relevant JDE and legal /certification requirements (e.g. HACCP and FSSC 22000) and by continuous verification of the compliance and effectiveness of installed systems.
- Provide expertise and timely support to all functions with regard to Quality, Product Safety and technical issues arising in Operations during day-to-day business.
- Lead /participate in continuous improvement initiatives against Quality KPI's (consumer, trade and/or customer complaints, Right First Time (RFT) and specification critical to quality product and process parameters).
- Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) arising from different sources, such as
- Consumer and customer complaints
- deficiencies in product conformance (RFT)
- audits
- Quality Incidents
- Implement Statistical Process Control where appropriate to improve compliance to specification measured by capability indices for critical to quality product and process parameters
- Embed the use of problem-solving and progressive quality tools including root cause analysis (RCA), Kaizen, FMEA by providing training and evaluation of application
- Participate in plant initiatives representing quality function to assure quality risk assessment and mitigation plans are considered to guarantee a successful start-up and transfer to operations. As part of the team manage the verification of quality KPIs for the project
- Liaise effectively with external vendors as part of vendor management program with a focus on reducing vendor non-conformities which may impact manufacturing efficiency and waste
- Check compliance to standards by regular GMP, HACCP, Halal and internal audits.
- To lead the continuous improvement on GMP, sanitation and zoning.
- Support JDE internal and vendor management program as qualified auditor
Leadership:
- Support Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) activities to deliver Food Safety/Quality Culture engagement and ongoing improvements Verify implementation of actions including lessons learned from other manufacturing plants. Drive horizontal expansion of improvement ideas in the plant across lines and embed in OPLs or standards
