We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Fire Safety Engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and compliance of all fire protection and life safety systems across our projects. Your expertise will ensure our facilities, particularly data centers, meet the highest standards of safety, protect critical assets, and comply with all local and international fire codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Design & Review: Develop, review, and approve fire protection system designs, including fire alarm and detection systems, wet/dry sprinkler systems, gaseous suppression systems (e.g., FM-200, Novec 1230), pre-action systems, and smoke control/management systems.
- Compliance & Authority Liaison: Ensure all fire safety designs and installations fully comply with local Bomba regulations, the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL), and international standards (e.g., NFPA). Lead all interactions and submissions to the relevant authorities for approval.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough fire risk assessments and hazard analyses for facilities, with a focus on the unique challenges presented by data centers and high-risk environments.
- Project Management: Manage the fire protection package from conception to completion, including coordinating with contractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines (MEP, CSA).
- Technical Specification: Prepare technical specifications, tender documents, and evaluation criteria for fire safety systems and equipment procurement.
- Site Supervision & Commissioning: Provide oversight during installation, conduct site inspections, and witness testing and commissioning of all fire safety systems to ensure performance aligns with design intent.
- Documentation & Training: Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation, including as-built drawings, calculation reports, and certification files. Conduct training for facility operations teams on system operation and emergency procedures.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve any issues or faults related to fire protection systems.
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in fire safety engineering, specifically within the construction or mission-critical facilities sector.
- Plus: Professional certification from the Bomba Fire Safety Division and a valid Jurutera Perunding Keselamatan Kebakaran (JPKK) license is highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Malaysian fire codes: UBBL, Bomba requirements .
- International fire codes: NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 72, 75, 76, 2001) .
- Experience with fire dynamics modeling software (e.g., CFD analysis) is a strong advantage.
- Experience with data center fire protection strategies and systems is highly desirable.
