- To primary liaison between the design office, consultants, contractors, and the client.
- To focus on technical accuracy, and effective collaboration with consultants, engineers, and contractors to deliver high-quality, functional, and sustainable design solutions.
A. Conceptual & Schematic Design
- Act as the key liaison between the appointed Architect Consultant design office, consultants (MEP, C&S, Baggage Handling System & ICT), contractors, and the client.
- Develop design concepts based on client briefs, project requirements, and site conditions.
- Coordinate with the Architect Consultant team to ensure the timely production of schematic design drawings, sketches, and visual presentations for client review and approval.
- Promote innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective design options while safeguarding the project's design intent.
- Support Resident Architect in ensuring all site works are executed in accordance with the approved architectural drawings and specifications prepared by the Architect Consultant.
- Monitor compliance with UBBL, BOMBA, and all statutory obligations in line with Employer's Requirement (ER).
B. Design Development
- Facilitate the translation of basic designs into detailed designs by Architect Consultant for submission and approvals.
- Coordinate architectural interfaces with MEP, C&S, Baggage Handling System & ICT System, ensuring alignment across disciplines.
- Support in the reviewing of shop drawings, material approval submissions, and mock-ups for conformity with design.
- Prepare architectural drawings, design reports, and specifications for submissions and approvals.
- Oversee production of 3D models, renderings, and other design presentations for communication and client engagement.
C. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Attend client & stakeholder meetings to present design proposals and progress updates.
- Incorporate client feedback and channel it effectively to the Architect Consultant team for design refinement.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and relevant stakeholders to resolve design-related and site issues while maintaining the design intend set by the Architect Consultant.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to the site teams, contractors, consistent with the Architect Consultant's design if required.
- Attend all design review and coordination sessions as required by the client's Project Director or PMC.
D. Documentation & Support
- Assist in reviewing change orders/variation orders relating to architectural works, ensuring the Architect Consultant's input is incorporated.
- Prepare and document design change requests (DCRs), including justification, impact analysis and submission to the Architect Consultant and client for review/ approval.
- Support the Project Manager on contractual and technical matters while ensuring design accountability remains with the Architect Consultant.
- Monitor that design deliverables prepared by the Architect Consultant meet quality standards, schedules, and budget constraints.
- Record architectural non-conformities (design & progress reporting-related) and coordinate corrective actions with the Architect Consultant.
- Contribute to preparation of monthly reports confirming architectural compliance, in line with ER.
Qualification & Experience
- Part II Architect registered with LAM (Board of Architects Malaysia) is a added advantage
- Minimum 10 years' experience in architectural site supervision, design detailing, and reinstatement works in public/transport infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of UBBL, BOMBA, statutory approvals, architectural detailing, finishes, and materials.
- Hands-on experience in BIM authoring tools (e.g., Autodesk Revit, ArchiCAD) and coordination platforms (e.g., Navisworks, BIM 360, or similar).
- Strong understanding of BIM workflows, clash detection, and interdisciplinary coordination processes.
- Proven track record in concept design, detailed design development, and design coordination on large-scale or turnkey projects.
- Experience in reviewing and managing shop drawings, as-built drawings, and material submissions within a BIM workflow.
- Assertive in upholding design standards, clear communicator, attention to detail with the ability to identify design risks and resolve issues proactively.
