JOB SUMMARY

reporting directly to country CFO and functionally to country General Manager and Regional Office Financial Control Department. Your mission will be to manage and oversee all finance (AR/AP/GL), banking and taxation matters related to shipping agency, domestic service entity and carriers’ representation for Malaysia and Singapore agencies.

Assist local teams in and management to solve finance challenge, leading group project assignment, presentation of accurate overview of the financial situation of the various entities to the Management, Regional Office and/or Head Office.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

FINANCIAL & OPERATIONAL

  • Manage the overall accounting function of country shipping agency, domestic carrier entity, carriers’ representation and sub agent, i.e., payable, receivable, general ledger and cost control in collaboration with local finance, regional finance and the Global Business Service team (GBS).
  • Supervise the monthly accounting closing with the accounting team in GBS, e.g., ensuring completeness of bank reconciliation, clearance of payable and receivable and proper accruals/prepayment.
  • Audit planning and oversees the financial statement in accordance with local GAAP and international accounting standards.
  • Monitor and achieve performance measurement and core KPIs.
  • Closely follow up the AR collection, credit management, overdue % / DSO kept below target and manage credit management.
  • Monitoring of monthly financial reporting to management and regional office/head office.
  • Perform variance analysis and analytical review on financial statements. Any discrepancy and risk identified, propose recommendation and action plan.
  • Perform weekly and short-term cash flow analysis and forecast.
  • Lead annual budgetary preparation and reporting.
  • Direct interlocutor with the statutory auditors and tax authority, to ensure timely completion of financial report and finalization of tax matters, respectively.
  • Overseas cash and treasury functions, including liaison and communication with bankers on changes and requirements for overseas remittance and currency exposure.
  • Coordinate and cooperate (Transversal) with local finance team, GBS team and cross departments to resolve ongoing financial issues and topics.
  • Extending leadership and monitoring role to domestic shipping entity’s reporting and accounting process.

TAXATION AND COMPLIANCE

  • Support Tax/GL team and work closely with regional office on ongoing tax topics.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all applicable tax returns for local entities, branches and carriers’ representation.
  • Lead and manage IRB expectation, tax audit and clearance, in coordination with local tax consultants.
  • Keep abreast and ensure compliance with local tax laws.
  • Behave as tax advisor in identifying and mitigating risks pertaining to tax exposure and handle outstanding tax cases.

PLANNING & PROJECT

  • Lead in groupwide SAP direct posting project for agency and carriers’ representation.
  • Support ongoing deregistration exercise for branches and carriers tax ID clearance.
  • Develop financial tactical initiative, tax strategy and participate in key decisions as member of the management.
  • Build a high performing Finance and Admin team by providing effective mentoring, on-the-job training and coaching.
  • Coordinating with other teams to ensure smooth operation as well as build good relationship at all levels of an organization.
  • Support Management in ad-hoc projects and assignment.

RISK MANAGEMENT & INTERNAL CONTROL

  • Ensure strong internal control is in place.
  • Leading internal audit review and external audit engagements.
  • Keep abreast of changes in banking regulations, country tax development and financial rules.
  • Construct and monitor reliable control system and accounting procedure, adhering to Group policy and accounting standard.

  • Budget and Forecast Preparation: Lead the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Internal Financial Controls: Establish and enforce internal financial controls, conduct fixed asset and year-end stock takes, and implement improvements based on internal audits.
  • Cost Activities and Productivity: Support other departments with cost-related activities, including product costing, cost analysis, costing structure, and margin analysis.
  • Collaboration with FSSC: Work closely with the Finance Services Centre (FSSC) in the Philippines on day-to-day finance operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL).
  • Regulatory Liaison and Compliance: Liaise with tax agents, auditors, and regulatory bodies. Prepare relevant schedules and documentation for regulatory filings or audits.
  • Transfer Pricing and Tax Filing: Assist in the preparation of transfer pricing documentation, direct and indirect tax filings, and ensure timely submission of all tax-related documents.
  • Special Projects and System Enhancements: Contribute to special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis and Reporting: Perform ad-hoc analysis and special projects as needed, and assist in preparing reports and presentations.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and performance.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Professional accounting qualifications or a recognized Degree in Accountancy.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, with a preference for experience in a multinational corporation (MNC).
  • Skills: Strong analytical and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels and work collaboratively across teams. Proficiency in relevant analytical tools and software is preferred.
  • Work Environment: Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English, Malay, and Mandarin (both written and verbal).
  • Work Location: Able to travel to Puncak Alam at least 2-3 times per week.

Overview

Assistant Manager | Recruitment | Talent Acquisition — Finance Manager role at AMK Technology. Permanent position with 6 months probation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to senior management.
  • Prepare regular financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.).
Accounting & Reporting
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Ensure accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants.
  • Maintain general ledger and oversee reconciliation activities.
Cash Flow & Credit Management
  • Manage company cash flow and working capital.
  • Oversee payroll, invoicing, collections, and payments.

Compliance & Risk Management
