to join our laboratory in
A*STAR SIBER SRTT. Job Description: Contribute to the development and application of state-of-the-art computational tools to direct and inform the microbial strain engineering and metabolic engineering activities of the SIBER SRTT experimental team to produce high-value chemicals in microbial cell factories. This can include, for example, computational approaches to genome mining and retro(bio)synthesis, metabolic pathway modelling and optimisation, protein structure design for novel and improved biochemical functionalities, and the analysis of omics profiles of engineered strains to drive further iterations of the design cycle. All of these should be empowered by the latest advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) where appropriate. Work closely with the PIs leading the computational work and with the other SIBER SRTT team members Apply for individual research grants as part of career development and apply proactively for research proposals Present findings at seminars, meetings and national / international conferences Write manuscripts for publication Contribute to mentorship of students, interns and technicians in the laboratory Be an excellent communicator and team player Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international research network Requirements: PhD in Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, or a related field. Strong background in current developments in computational biology and systems biology, including relevant aspects of AI/ML, with demonstrated capability for developing and applying state-of-the-art tools for concrete biological applications at the cutting edge of the field. Excellent understanding of the key concepts and techniques of synthetic biology / engineering biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, and process engineering. Track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications in internationally recognised journals. Having at least one first-authored paper will be a plus. Dedication, motivation, creativity and passion for scientific research and continuous learning. Exceptional analytical, experimental design, technical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in communication, writing and editing scientific documents. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and efficiently in an interdisciplinary team. A strong interest in the translational and applied aspects of research, including collaborations with industrial partners. Experience in omics technologies, data analysis, Design of Experiments (DoE), metabolite modelling, programming will be a plus. Strong supervisory skills would be also be a plus. Singleron is focused on providing high-quality single-cell multi-omics analysis to our academic and biotech customers. To this end, experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desired:
- Single-cell characterization (scRNA-Seq)

- Highly skilled in Python/R and shell/bash scripting within Linux/Unix environments. Experience with AWS is a plus

- Develop and apply computational methods to analyse diverse biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics (bulk, single-cell, and spatial RNAseq) and proteomics data.
- Leverage machine learning and AI to uncover meaningful biological patterns and build predictive models to support target identification and mechanism-of-action studies.

What skills and experiences are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in a data science related field.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in data science.
- Experience developing machine learning models into full production.
- Strong expertise in ETL processes, data integration, and transformation.
- Proficiency in programming and statistical tools such as Python, R, SQL, SPSS, IBM CPLEX
- Experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies - Databricks, Azure, Spark, SAP (R4) and/or SAP (4HANA), IBM Planning Analytics
- Strong experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience working with business teams and within general business processes
- Experience in Manufacturing Industry
- Understanding of common business financial terms and metrics
- Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex datasets.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders, facilitate discussions, deliver training, and manage time effectively.
- High initiative and creativity, with the ability to work independently and think strategically and technically.
- Leadership and mentoring experience, with a demonstrated ability to guide and develop junior team members and develop collaborative teamwork
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
- Strong understanding of data science concepts.

Huntsman Corporation is now looking for a dynamic individual as a Lead Data Scientist – Global Reporting & Analysis.
The Data Science Lead will collaborate with various business teams to apply suitable prescriptive and predictive models to solve complex problems, driving strategic decision-making. They will oversee the creation and implementation of advanced analytics models using technologies such as Python, R, and machine learning frameworks.
Additionally, they will mentor team members on data science best practices and promote collaboration and continuous learning within the Data Science community at Huntsman.
The ideal candidate will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
As a Lead Data Scientist – Global Reporting & Analysis you will:
Lead Data Science in FP&A: Oversee strategy reviews, best practice adoption, and identify gaps in current ML processes.
Advanced Modeling: Design, develop, and deploy predictive models and AI solutions to address business needs.
Team Leadership: Lead multiple Data Scientists and mentor team members on best practices.
AI Strategy: Drive strategy for AI applications and advanced analytics solutions.
Performance Evaluation: Evaluate and optimize data-driven products.
Project Management: Drive large cross-functional projects from ideation to implementation.
