We are seeking a motivated individual with expertise in NGS data analytics, including single-cell analyses, to join Singleron’s Bioinformatics Team. Singleron is focused on providing high-quality single-cell multi-omics analysis to our academic and biotech customers. To this end, experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desired:

  • Single-cell characterization (scRNA-Seq)
  • Gene expression analysis (RNA-Seq, Pathway analysis)
  • Bioinformatics skills include programming, analytical pipeline development, data visualization, and experience in cloud computing platforms (such as AWS, etc)

Key responsibilities

  • Working closely with wet lab scientists and customer support to analyze and interpret single-cell and multi-omics data
  • Testing, maintaining, and optimizing analytical pipelines
  • Communicate experimental designs and results to both experts and non-experts
  • Planning and prioritizing tasks to ensure timely delivery of results

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS or PhD with experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • A proven track record in the analysis, and interpretation of genomic and NGS data. Prior single-cell RNA-Seq experience is a plus, but is not necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with project teams and/or experimental collaborators to design studies and develop analyses to answer scientific questions
  • Familiarity with relevant analytical approaches and underlying assumptions
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated approach to problem-solving with excellent reasoning skills
  • Highly skilled in Python/R and shell/bash scripting within Linux/Unix environments. Experience with AWS is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize needs and get things done
  • Strong team player who can also work independently
  • Proactive learner and good at trouble-shooting
  • Industry experience is a plus

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan and execute R&D projects on NdFeB sintered magnets.
  • Develop new magnet alloys, processes and products with minimal supervision.
  • Provide tech support for sintered magnet mass production at Narva, Estonia.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams involving engineering and R&D at manufacturing locations and regional sales managers.
  • Demonstrate competence in the use of all relevant processing, test and analytical equipment.
  • Provide technical supervision to associate scientists.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experimental skills in NdFeB sintered magnets fabrication technology.
  • Knowledge of NdFeB permanent magnets and their processing-microstructure-property relationship.
  • Ability to analyze and work through technical and/or scientific problems.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to our manufacturing sites in Europe and Asia.
  • Good communication and presentation skills (in English).

The Centre for Advanced Technologies in Online Safety (CATOS; was established in 2023 to host Singapore's Online Trust and Safety (OTS) Programme, a national research programme that leads the advancement of whole-of-nation technology capabilities to monitor and tackle online harms. The Systems Engineering Pillar of CATOS focuses on translational research and development, including evaluating, testing and integrating research output into needle-moving applications. One of the major outcomes will be a technological platform with an integrated suite of deep tech OTS engines, which analyses various internet sites and platforms for fast-trending harmful online content, such as non-factual claims, deepfakes, and hateful and toxic content. Different combinations of OTS engines can then be integrated and adapted to address the specific requirements of various stakeholders.

This role will be responsible for systematically evaluating AI models and datasets to understand the strengths and weaknesses of existing tools in this field and identify ways to adapt promising tools to their intended applications. The work will create valuable knowledge to inform end-users and technology researchers, helping to ensure that the technologies from CATOS and its partners are of desirable performance and robustness for the intended use cases and applications.

The candidate will assume the following roles and responsibilities:

  • As a Research Scientist, contribute to the evaluation of emerging technologies and data underneath the technologies, which often require hands-on tech skills and data analytic / data science capabilities.
  • Actively review relevant tech landscape from both academics and industry, construct datasets, perform evaluation, generate reports, and communicate the methodology, findings, and key takeaways.
  • Collaborate with senior team members, stakeholders and cross-functional teams to incorporate requirements that may come from the evolving nature of the landscape.
  • Contribute to key CATOS events that are aimed at engaging the researchers, industry, public agencies, NGOs and the general public.

JOB REQUIREMENT:

  • A PhD degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Computer Engineering / Information Systems / Computational Social Science / Societal Computing / Human Computer Interaction or equivalent.
  • A compelling scientific publications track record and demonstrable independent research capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience in using machine learning, deep learning frameworks and models, especially expertise in Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Data Visualization, and Human-Computer Interaction.
  • Proficient with programming languages. (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++, MATLAB)
  • Experience and expertise in (Multi-Modal) Large Language Models are especially valued.
  • Cross-disciplinary research experiences are especially valued, especially those related to online trust and safety.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for working in a multicultural work environment.

The Singapore Integrative Biosystems & Engineering Research (SIBER) SRTT harnesses synthetic biology capabilities to aid the sustainable transformation of Singapore’s Energy & Chemicals sector with the aim to expand to other sectors. It will create a synthetic biology platform initially for sustainable chemicals and fuels, powered by a unique organism library utilising the biodiversity of Singapore. SIBER’s vision is to be a premier hub in industrial biotechnology innovation for the energy / chemicals as well as other sectors, empowering Singapore to seize opportunities in the future bioeconomy.

We are looking for a Principal Scientist/Senior Research Fellow with expertise in metabolic engineering to join our laboratory in A*STAR SIBER SRTT.

Job Description:

  • Lead, design and perform experiments involving cutting-edge strain engineering and / or metabolic engineering harnessing synthetic biology and engineering biology approaches for the production of high-value chemicals in microbial cell factories. This also includes, for example, aspects of laboratory automation, protein biochemistry, cell-free systems, biosensing, biosynthesis pathway assembly.
  • Develop applied research, translational and commercialisation strategies, in coordination with the SRTT leadership team.
  • Work closely with the other SIBER SRTT team members as well as other relevant research institutes in A*STAR.
  • Apply for individual research grants as part of career development and apply proactively for other research proposals.
  • Present findings at seminars, meetings and national / international conferences.
  • Write manuscripts for publication.
  • Contribute to mentorship of PDRA, students, interns and technicians in the laboratory.
  • Be an excellent communicator and team player.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international research network

Requirements:

  • PhD in Life Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry or a related field.
  • At least more than 8 years of postdoc experience or independent research experience and leading a research team.
  • Strong background in synthetic biology / engineering biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, with a demonstrated capability for developing and implementing independent research activities at the cutting edge of the field.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications with at least five first-authored or last-authored papers in internationally recognised journals.
  • Think methodically and have dedication, motivation, creativity and passion for scientific research and continuous learning.
  • Exceptional analytical, experimental design, technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in communication by doing so in a straightforward and accurate manner, writing and editing scientific documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and efficiently in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • A strong interest in the translational and applied aspects of research, including collaborations with industrial partners.
  • Experience in omics technologies, HTP automation facilities, data analysis using various software, Design of Experiments and programming will be a plus.
