- Tracking, reporting and analyzing team’s referrals, backlogs and other productivity and efficiency related management requirements.
- Be the digital ambassador of the team.
- Recommend and implement initiatives in streamlining policies, processes and procedures to meet business needs.
- Provide interpretation and advice regarding polices, process and procedures.
- Maintain accurate data in relevant systems and databases.
- Key Performance Indicator: Deliver business results by allocated intermediaries.
- Key Performance Indicator: Meeting all operational KPIs.
- Key Performance Indicator: Risk awareness and governance.
About You:
- Minimum 3+ years of underwriting experience in insurance business together with relevant policy documentation handling experience.
- Strong analytical, communication & interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of the insurance industry.

Underwriting Assistant
As an Underwriting Assistant, you will be part of the Customer Distribution Care Team, ensuring exceptional support and service delivery for the MidCorp team and business for Allianz entities. Your primary focus will be to ensure the timely issuance of policies and accurate processing of policy documentation.
In addition to daily operational support, you will contribute to process improvement and service excellence by assisting with projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and quality of customer distribution care.
You will collaborate with Underwriters and the wider Service team, proactively identifying and resolving service issues while ensuring adherence to service delivery timeframes. You will also act as an account representative, responding to service matters and coordinating with the appropriate business partners for swift resolution.
Responsibilities
Provide support to Underwriters in the areas of underwriting operations, procedures, and policies. Complete associated business processes such as document management, core system tests, regulatory compliance checks, and others. Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating to ensure timely processing and operational efficiency. Ensure accurate and prompt issuance of policy documents, including policy schedules, policy wording, endorsements, invoices, and certificates of insurance, in collaboration with the Policy Management Team. Liaise with, provide support to, and conduct regular quality checks on tasks assigned to and completed by the Policy Management Team and offshore teams, including pre-renewal reports, regulatory compliance checks, and other associated activities. Support knowledge transfer and contribute to the upskilling and training of offshore or onshore teams. Establish processes to effectively monitor work in progress and set priorities to complete tasks within turnaround times. Complete documentation following the placement of Facultative Reinsurance, where applicable. Assist in reconciling premium with the respective business partners.
Requirements
Prior experience working in an insurance or reinsurance company preferred. Knowledge of commercial lines of insurance business preferred. Experience in underwriting support functions, data entry, and policy administration. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Effective communication skills. Good customer service skills. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally. Ability to navigate ambiguity and complete work with minimal supervision. Proactive with a “can-do” attitude. Willingness to learn.

Job Responsibilities
Ensure all underwriting matters adhere to the Company’s Underwriting and Treaty Guidelines. Explore business opportunities, especially within new Ecosystems such as digital Platforms. Provide timely and competitive quotations and technical support to Marketers, Agents, Brokers, and other Partners. Market Underwriting, including meetings/negotiations with all Distribution Partners. Establish a Growth Business Plan for the respective Portfolio and follow up on its execution and implementation. Build a relationship with professional reinsurers to get support on specialized Marine Classes of Business. Determine the retention level in accordance with the Company’s Underwriting and Treaty Guidelines. Ensure all referrals from Marketers, Agents, Brokers, and other Partners are attended to in a timely manner. Provide technical advice and support on underwriting matters to Marketers, Agents, Brokers, and other Partners. Embrace & provide Product, System, and Process knowledge. Provide technical training to identified key Sales colleagues. Ensure reinsurance placement is in order prior to risk inception. Perform Portfolio Management by analysing Marine Portfolio performance and taking respective action where necessary. Analyse Claims Frequency and Severity within the respective Portfolio to take the respective action where necessary Assist the immediate superior in performing any tasks as assigned.

Contribute to the implementation of underwriting strategies (e.g. pricing) and solutions (e.g. product development, underwriting tools and processes) for a portfolio, line of business or product line.
Develop knowledge in product line and industry.
Monitor underwriting strategy relating to performance metrics, data and insights.
Operate within established organization Risk Policy, Global Underwriting Policy and underwriting governance policies.
Contribute to development of technical underwriting guidelines, and Best Practices, including controls and procedures.
Work on projects of low to moderate complexity.
Handle queries within delegated authority.
Support aspects of portfolio management, including analysis to monitor profitability and growth of specialty areas of business.
Monitor Technical Price accuracy and supports Technical Price Certification.
Contribute to the Technical Underwriting Review Process.
Participate in compliance-related queries, including regulatory exams and insurance department inquiries.
Anticipate, recognize and respond to needs of customers.
Support implementation of customer initiatives.
Provide status updates.
Resolve technical problems by referring to policies, procedures, specifications.
Compare alternatives for solving problems or improving procedures or products and provide recommendations.
Provide technical expertise for short-term, defined scope projects.

Job Qualifications Required:
Bachelors Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting area
OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting area
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting area
AND
Microsoft Office skills
Preferred:
Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
Insurance industry experience
Business Accountabilities
Review and analyze project performance using standard reporting tools and highlight discrepancies against plan.
Identify and comply with the main principles relevant to legal and regulatory controls that govern standard work practices.
Collect data from well-established sources and analysis, recommendations and commentary to facilitate underwriting decision-making.
Monitor underwriting business processes in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
Review and analyze customer service levels using standard reporting tools and highlight discrepancies to more senior colleagues.
Provide detailed procedural advice to internal clients to ensure that internal standards are adhered to.
