Job Summary

Under general direction, this position executes reinsurance account management related responsibilities, and is involved in the preparation, conclusion, documentation and administration of traditional reinsurance agreements with external parties for the reinsurance business assigned.

Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities
  1. Responsible for the negotiation, conclusion, documentation and signing off of reinsurance agreements with internal and/or external parties in line with underwriting authority.
  2. Treaty Placement & Account Management.
  3. Actively supports and promotes Group Reinsurance relationship management with the Zurich Business Units, and supports the relationship management of attributed reinsurers, reinsurance brokers, and/or cedents.
  4. Works closely with Reinsurance Analytics and Reinsurance Claims, and utilizes their output and findings in the decision making process.
  5. Contribute to contract wording, negotiate terms and conditions, collaborating with relevant stakeholders in support of commercially successful contracts for the organization.
Job Functions

  3. Regulatory Request Coordination.
  4. Assess the effectiveness of internal processes and identify opportunities for developing improvements in own area.

Business Accountabilities
  1. Provide expertise and insight into underwriting projects which improve processes, develop policies and generate innovation to maintain regulatory compliance and/or deliver process or product enhancements.
  2. Collaborates with various stakeholders to deliver commercially successful contracts for the organisation.
  3. Coordinate Zurich Risk Policy compliance and governance arrangements so all requirements of the reinsurance business are met.
  4. Analyze a wide range of data within Reinsurance Analytics and Reinsurance claims and utilizes their findings in the decision making process.
  5. Provide technical reinsurance advice & support to the Business Units, attributed reinsurers and reinsurance brokers to support achievement of business plans and improve customer centricity.

The Technical Management Specialist will assist the Technical General Insurance team in maintaining a robust Assurance Program that aligns with the global Zurich Framework. This role ensures the program meets the needs of all stakeholders, including customers, regulators, shareholders, and internal executives, while providing confidence in underwriting decisions and fostering continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Assurance Program aligns with the global Framework, adhering to its principles and minimum requirements.
  • Address the needs of various stakeholders such as customers, regulators, shareholders, legal entities, Business Unit Underwriting, and the Country CEO.
  • Provide assurance that underwriters understand exposures and make appropriate decisions for sustainable results.
  • Identify and mitigate underwriting-related risks effectively.
  • Enhance the knowledge, technical skills, and capabilities of underwriters.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Assurance Program.
  • Ensure the program remains relevant to the business and its structure, adapting available tools like TUR, Spot Check, and MPR to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Incorporate input from the local Chief Risk Officer (CRO) into the program.
  • Oversee services procured outside the country, such as Cat Risk Insights (CRI) and Flood Average Annual Loss (AAL) Calculator.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in underwriting or risk management.
  • Strong understanding of assurance frameworks and principles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.

The role is to partner with the regional sales teams to further identify and grow our UCM portfolio across our existing customer base. The Technical Sales Specialist will report into the Regional TSS for UCM based in KL. You will be instrumental in assisting the sales team achieve its sales targets as well as ensuring knowledge transfer across the business.

Responsibilities Of The Role

Product and sector expertise:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the value of our UCM solutions and the UCM sector to primarily deliver growth on Upstream, Corporate Research, CCUS and Emissions across Energy and Financial clients.
  • Act as an internal ambassador for the UCM segment, supporting communication of product enhancements and market developments across the organisation and working with teams including sales, customer success, marketing, research and consulting.

Retention And Proactive New Business Development

  • Partner with Regional Sales colleagues to support the value proposition of the new offerings we will be developing and position these within the accounts where we think there is potential for growth. This will be achieved through a deep understanding of customer workflows and demonstrate how the new solutions can address them, identify unmet customer needs, and uncover new buying centres.
  • Support the customer lifecycle by working with other functions to support, engagement, NCD and retention.
  • Responsibility for making sure we are being consistent (regionally and globally) in our approach (e.g. bundling of content, discount levels, target setting) across the UCM portfolio

Territory Planning

  • Developing a clear regional strategy for the UCM portfolio, including Go-To-Market Strategies as well as retirement plans for legacy products
  • Develop, regularly maintain, and own a sales plan for your territory. Identify key growth markets, needle moving opportunities, and risks within your existing portfolio to plan your time effectively and develop a sales strategy and tactics.
  • Collaborate with Product Sales, Customer Focus, Research, and Consulting to build and execute on your plan, and to challenge Regional Sales colleagues on their ambition to deliver growth across the segment.
  • Build strong relationships across the UCM Segment to ensure alignment across the regional sales organisation

Product Development Collaboration

  • Working with the regional Marketing team, including Product Marketing, to ensure that their budgets and plans align with the regional UCM Sales strategy
  • Work closely with the Product and Research teams to help shape the UCM product development roadmap based on customer feedback, your experience and knowledge of customer workflows, and relevant competitor intelligence.
  • Support new UCM product and service development launches through the development of go-to-market activities.

Ensure The Sales Process Is Followed

  • Support all aspects of the sales process which include prospecting, qualification, selling the value proposition at all levels, deal structure, final negotiations, and closing. All aspects of the sales process must be handled efficiently and fully documented.
  • Work closely with Product Specialists on UCM regional pre-Sales strategy

Accurate Sales Forecasting

  • Effectively monitor the business pipeline to ensure accurate forecasting in Salesforce.

Knowledge & Experience

You will:

  • Have significant experience in client facing or Account Management roles.
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge across all of the UCM sector.
  • Have an extensive commercial track record in developing clients and establishing a trusted advisor relationship.
  • Be a self-motivated and energetic individual, a successful negotiator and results oriented.
  • Have a proven track record in collaborating with different internal teams to achieve commercial success.
