Purpose Statement

Provides engineering support to sustain and improve the performance of the manufacturing process with the objective of meeting business goals in terms of Safety, Quality, Service, Cost. Acts as an advisor to other process techs to help achieve business goals.

  • Communicates any concerns about work process regarding environmental impact, health or safety issues to their Manager.

Requirements

  • Candidate must possess at least Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic)/ Engineering (Mechanical)/ Engineering (Mechatronic/Electromechanical) or equivalent.
  • Required skill(s): equipment maintenance, equipment qualification, manufacturing, critical thinking, Problem Solving.
  • Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English
  • At least 5-8 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Able to work on rotating shift schedule (3 shifts).

Functional Description
Performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies. (iii) As manufacturing engineer, support supplier for DFM and PFMEA preparation and design review
(iv) Support supplier for process and tool design and qualification
(v) Follow up sample making issues and sample schedule requested by customer or PDE, and work with cross function team members and supplier for improvement until approval
(vi) Work with PBL suppliers for packing design and qualification test
(vii) Work with supplier to complete all engineering documents
(viii) Work with SQE and supplier for safe launch process audit.

Sustain Product
(i) Work with Sourcing and supplier to review and improve capacity, including leading copied tool qualification
(ii) Work with SQE and supplier to improve process yield and resolve quality problems
(iii) Follow EC change and 4M change
(iv) Follow material change (alternative) and lead new material qualification process
(v) Follow supplier change or migration project (from TE plant to PBL supplier) and work with cross function team members and supplier for qualification.

Productivity
(i) Work with suppliers and team members to identify improvement opportunities, such as process, material, plating, packing
(ii) Follow VAVE project and work with supplier and team members to drive the project and achieve cost reduction
(iii) Support Sourcing for cost reduction negotiation.

Capex Management and Equipment Maintenance
(i) Follow capex qualification and manage capex with Finance, Sourcing, and PBL supplier
(ii) Support PBL supplier to prepare equipment and tool maintenance plan and monitor its implementation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a mechanical-related background
  • Total working experience of 8 years or more
  • Over 5 years of direct experience in connector and/or cable manufacturing engineering
  • Communication skills in Mandarin and English
  • Strong execution ability

Job Description

Summary of the Role:

As a Manufacturing Engineer , you will support and improve test processes for media in both back-end (BE) and front-end (FE) operations. You will handle certification, qualification, and installation of new test processes, and keep test recipes updated. You will investigate HDD returns and fix media tester issues to avoid repeated problems. You will work on continuous improvements by analyzing data, upgrading equipment and processes, and documenting procedures. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure test quality and participate in reviews, following all safety rules.

Job Responsibilities And Role Accountabilities

  • Support BE Media test (PZT, TDS, Magnetic Certification) process.
  • Support FE and BE AOI process.
  • Certify new head and transfer into back end test operation
  • Media BE test vs HDD Drive Correlation and Optimization.
  • Support HDD return investigation.
  • Qualify & release and new media test process propagation/installation into manufacturing.
  • Continue to monitor, optimize, analyze and implement improvement(upgrade) all media test process related.
  • Procedure and methodology documentation
  • Review project transfers from US and provide assessment feedback, Test metrology review, test process suggestions and improvements.
  • Develop new engineering solution (Equipment and Process) for defect detection improvement on media testers.
  • Implement process improvements for media tester.
  • Test recipe maintenance.
  • Resolve media tester QI failures and find solutions to ensure non repeated cases due to same root cause.
  • Media quality improvement to avoid post-test failure and test escapee for new equipment qualification to HDD.
  • Involved as a team member in FMEA meetings.
  • Coordinating test process improvements with operations engineer and technicians.
  • Interface with Product Engineering/HME in HDD.
  • Interface with support team – IT/Product group.
  • Follow all safety and health rules.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics Sciences or a related field.
  • Atleast 1 year of engineering experience and industry exposure in Electronics, Semiconduction Manufacturing setup is highly preferred.
  • Experience in working on project, experiment and evaluation environment is highly desirable.
