British American Tobacco has an exciting opportunity for a Demand Forecasting Manager in Sunway City, Selango

This role is responsible to co-create & lead the delivery of above market demand forecasting capabilities, working closely in collaboration with cross-functional teams in the end markets & DRBUs. Apart from that, the candidate should champion the development, deployment, embedding & ongoing improvement of the Demand Forecasting Initiatives including transformation in People, Process, Tech & Data. This role is also expected to lead the development and delivery of Demand Forecasting loss analytics and reporting to identify commercial improvement opportunities for the business. Lastly, this role would develop & lead the continuous improvement initiatives to improve DF to be able to identify and better forecast for optimized opportunities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Demand Forecasting Community of Practice, supporting the deployment of Management Information and tools supporting Demand Forecasting.
  • Co-Create the ideal interaction model for demand forecasting between Global & DRBU/EM Functions in Supply Chain and Commercial functions. To deliver optimum business results with minimum losses as well as maximizing profits through opportunity capturing.
  • Lead the analysis, deployment, and maintenance of statistical models for forecasting, develop subject matter expertise in statistical forecasting.
  • Deliver strong insights based on statistics & market information to the Commercial teams to improve DF to capture market opportunities without compromise on the accuracy of forecasting.
  • Drive knowledge sharing and collaboration between Demand Forecasting, Marketing teams and the wider Supply Chain Community to support the business plans for growth scenarios with robust trigger mechanisms while maintaining a strong baseline.
  • Manage central co-ordination of Demand Forecasting Loss Analysis reporting, tracking and Continuous Improvement plans.
  • Work alongside markets to turn judgemental insights into quantitative models through the identification of causal factors, data sets and models wherever possible.
  • Maintain, develop, and deliver capability training to support statistical and causal forecasting as part of the Education and Training curriculum.
  • Develop through benchmarking and business need the Causal Model process, leveraging learning from Proof of Concepts and technology partners.
  • Support the cascade, coordination, and delivery of Global and local improvement initiatives.
  • Drive and support benchmarking across DF from a process, organisation, capabilities, technology and data perspective.

What are we looking for?

  • Demand Forecasting Professional with min. 5-6 years’ experience in planning managerial role.
  • Results focused, structured approach, strong analytical & project management skills.
  • Experience with Demand Forecasting system, ideally Kinaxis and training in demand forecasting methodologies and process.
  • Assertive & collaborative style; able to work across multiple EM’s, cultures & time zones.
  • Strong influencing skills with the desire to challenge the status quo & drive change.
  • Knowledge of SAP & supporting the delivery of Supply Chain & Demand Planning technology an advantage.
  • Experience working on Machine Learning/AI projects
  • University (Master’s) degree, preferably in statistics of demand planning

  • Work closely in partnership with key manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Conduct and oversee supplier evaluation to determine the best possible sources to ensure a consistent supply of materials at optimum prices.
  • Prepare and review negotiations of contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers.
  • Maintain and update the Approved Supplier List
  • Maintain workable minimum stock holding levels.
  • Participate and work with other relevant departments in the development of new products, substitute materials, and packaging.
  • Ensure material costs are kept to a minimum.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse and/or logistics department to ensure timely delivery and clearance of shipment.
  • Resolve claims against suppliers.
  • Oversee planning and monitoring of production schedule to ensure customer orders are met.
  • Establish a good rapport with customers relating to the fulfilment of purchase orders and deliveries.
  • Monitor production weekly plan is achieved on target, and delivery schedules are met.
  • Participate and work with other departments involving new and revamped products.
  • Assist and carry out other ad-hoc projects as required.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum qualification is a Diploma or Degree in any field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Purchasing / Logistics / Inventory.
  • Self-driven, meticulous, and possess a high degree of initiative and integrity.
  • Strong customer service orientation, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Computer literate, detailed, conscientious, and able to work independently and in a team
