A Brief Overview
Lead, manage and direct the Regional Security Architecture, Engineering, Operations, Governance, Risk, Compliance and Security Incident Response teams and processes. Act as the operational executive responsible for delivering all security capabilities in the geographic region, necessary to protect the global RGA enterprise while maintaining contractual and regulatory requirements. Oversee and deliver the continually improving security capabilities regionally in support of RGA regional subsidiaries and global security requirements. Communicate and collaborate with and brief senior Security, IT and business leaders to ensure efficient and effective delivery of global security services in the region while aligning with global security and risk management standards. Participate as the primary RGA leader responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of all security capabilities in the region with the goal of minimizing associated potential business impacts.
What you will do
- Lead a senior team to develop, implement and continually enhance regional security architecture, engineering, governance, risk, compliance and incident response capabilities.
- Support global policies and standards; proposes changes to existing policies, standards and procedures; directs implementation of policies, standards and procedures in the region to ensure effective security and risk management outcomes.
- Drive regional development and deployment of security capabilities, architectural implementation, configuration, risk management, data collection and analysis as well as logging and alerting requirements for the RGA enterprise.
- Enhance existing regional security and risk management capabilities through a mix of people, processes and technologies which increase capability maturity and reduce the likelihood that threat actors will circumvent security capabilities within the region.
- Provide expansive information security expertise in the diagnosis of control requirements shortfalls, identification of business risks, evaluation of solution alternatives and delivery of systems solutions to assist in the identification, prevention, detection, response, and eradication of threat activity within the region.
- Serve as a key advisor for information security, data privacy, disaster recovery, and physical security for RGA on trends and emerging risks within the region.
- Represent Global Security, Governance, Risk Management, Security Operations, and Incident Response advocating for information security, data privacy, disaster recovery, and physical security best practices working with all other appropriate stakeholders.
- Lead, manage and direct the activities of department management in all aspects of supervisory duties, including, but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Foster a positive and engaged work environment. Mentor associates and give guidance on associate development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
- Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) is preferred
- 10+ Years progressive professional experience evaluating, delivering, and/or managing in a complex IT environment(s) as well as people management experience
- 15+ Years professional experience including 7 years working in a complex, global corporation
- 15+ Years professional experience in information security
- 3+ Years experience in technology architecture and development
- 3+ Years experience engaging with and defeating advanced threat actors
- Experience as a security technology leader with implementation skills
- Leadership skills with an ability to inspire security teams through curiosity and a passion for engaging with and stopping threat actors from exploiting organizations
- Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
- Knowledge of Information Security technologies, markets and vendors

Your key responsibilities in this role will be to:
- Deliver public training courses and in-house training solutions to the BSI standards of excellence, in order to develop knowledge and skills.
- Carry out assessments of clients’ management systems to ensure that they meet the requirements of International Standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 2000, and other standards where appropriately trained.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Tutoring:
- Deliver BSI training courses in a manner that ensures value is added to customers and their business/organisation.
- Inform and update customers of BSI services to ensure their needs are met during training sessions.
- Provide delegates with information on how the training is aligned to the overall customer journey with BSI to raise customer awareness.
- Deliver excellent training courses/solutions and day-to-day interactions with customers and other key stakeholders to continually enhance the reputation and perception of BSI.
- Provide feedback to support course development in line with the new course and existing product development process.
- Assist with the design of training solutions (e.g., classroom, electronic, correspondence, mentoring, coaching) to improve the quality and range of the training offered.
- Maintain and enhance appropriate professional qualification status in relevant disciplines to keep up to date in own area of expertise.
- Proactively engage with peers and key stakeholders to ensure continual improvement, in line with the BSI standards of excellence for training delivery.
- Provide technical support to the training sales and marketing teams to enhance the growth of the training business.
Auditing:
- Undertake the assessment of clients in accordance with BSI requirements.
- Make presentations and prepare assessment reports outlining the findings of the assessment to ensure client understanding of the assessment decision and clear direction to particular items of corrective action where appropriate.
- Recommend the issue, re-issue, or withdrawal of certificates and report recommendations in accordance with BSI policy, procedures, and prescribed time frame.
- For the portfolio of clients allocated, establish and develop an effective partnership, which secures the commercial relationship and encourages opportunities for business development and increased client satisfaction.
- Provide accurate and prompt information to support services, working closely with them to ensure that client records are up to date and complete and that all other internal information requirements are met.
- In cooperation with Planning & Logistics and other operations functions, plan/schedule workloads to make best use of own time and maximize revenue-earning activity.
- Lead assessment teams as required, ensuring that team members are adequately briefed so that quality of service is maintained and that effective working relationships are sustained both with Clients and within the team.
- Support and coach colleagues as appropriate, especially where those members are inexperienced assessors or unfamiliar with clients' business/technology and assist in the induction and coaching of new colleagues as requested.
- Maintain and develop own skills and knowledge both technologically and in the field of management and standards.

About you
To be successful in this role, you need to thrive in a process-driven, fast-paced, customer-focused environment and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and an eye for detail. You must be self-motivated and have the ability to remain calm whilst managing numerous priorities. Good IT and systems skills are essential.
You will also be required to have:
- Educated to degree level in related fields or have a further education diploma with proven experience in Information Security or IT Service Management industries.
- Experience in conducting assessments and delivering courses, including ISO/IEC standards (ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 2000, etc.) is essential, as is experience with related Information Security or IT Service Management industries and/or government agencies.
- Existing qualified Tutor for related schemes and accredited with HRDC would be an added advantage.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of how a business operates to ensure appropriate interpretation of management system standards.
- Proven negotiation skills to be able to negotiate technical issues when dealing with the client organisation's management in relation to assessment findings.
- Excellent presentation skills, able to present assessment findings professionally and effectively, often through formal stand-up presentations to a group of senior managers.
- Energy and commitment to undertake the assessor role, which can be very demanding, working within different premises every day, being in front of the client and constantly on the move.
- Learning ability to keep up with changes to business, industry, management thinking, and developing assessment styles.
- Self-organisation skills/self-motivated - operating from home and remote from any BSI office, the assessor needs to be able to manage their own workload to maximize self-effectiveness.
- Demonstrate thorough technical knowledge to be able to interpret the language of the Client organisation.
- As driving is considered essential to the fulfilment of your duties, you must provide evidence that your driving licence has less than six penalty points.

The Operational Security Management Specialist is technically skilled to support a business-critical Secure Remote Access solution, used within our Operational Technology environment. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring the solution's availability, optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. The role involves supporting existing and new users, onboarding new remote sites, and includes troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the solution to meet the evolving needs of our business.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end onboarding/offboarding and deployment of the Secure Remote Access solution, to identified Operational Technology sites
- Act as first response point of contact for service requests and issues.
- Input to the Secure Remote Access service incident response, change and problem management processes.
- Support management of an Azure Cloud Environment
- Contribute to Secure Remote Access Solution Knowledge Management processes
- Input to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Creation and provision of agent package deployments and user access accounts.
- Configuration of applications & appliances, adhering to end to end process and procedures.
- Leading and/or participating in upgrades, patching, performance monitoring, disaster recovery, and capacity management activities within the solution Azure cloud implementation.
- Troubleshooting Secure Remote Access solution connectivity, application, user and endpoint issues, interacting with stakeholders on bridge calls and updating Incident records in the cmdb.
- Create, review and implement Secure Remote Access solution changes, interacting with multi stakeholder groups, and updating change request records in the cmdb.
- Participate in root cause analysis, retrospective change reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Undertake user acceptance testing for the Secure Remote Access service portal and solution deployment tools, to improve user experience and optimize workflows.
- Supporting activities related to secure offboarding of the Secure Remote Access solution
- Create and maintain internal service and end user documentation.
- Deliver internal and user knowledge bursts and answer service consumer questions related to the use of the solution.

Shirlyn Technology’s Global Security and Risk Management (GSRM) division oversees the security infrastructure, risk management, data privacy, business fraud, governance, and regulatory compliance across Shirlyn’s global operations. Our team of security professionals, innovators, and thought leaders leverage decades of expertise to drive large-scale transformations and ensure the security of our global operations.
We are seeking a full-time Software Engineer (Security Management Applications) for our Palo Alto, California and Petaling Jaya, Malaysia offices. This role will be part of our Global Security Engineering team, where we design and implement advanced security threat management solutions. Our cutting-edge products unify asset tracking, threat observability, vulnerability management, incident response, and threat detection using analytics, visualization, and seamless integration. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects that shape our global security posture.
We are looking for a talented software engineer with expertise in both front-end and back-end development to create secure, scalable, and efficient security solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of software architecture, security principles, and hands-on experience across the entire software development lifecycle. This position will involve working on both onsite and cloud systems and supporting remote systems and offices. A strong automation mindset is essential, as you will play a key role in transitioning IT infrastructure and security projects into production, while documenting and supporting these projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify, research, and architect automated solutions for complex network and security applications across the enterprise.
- Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces that enhance the security operations experience.
- Develop microservices and components to interact with REST APIs, focusing on automation, efficiency, observability, and security.
- Integrate and deploy APIs with a wide range of industry-leading enterprise software applications.
- Maintain and update IT procedures and documentation related to platform operations and processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to design innovative solutions to complex IT and security challenges.
- Ensure high availability and service levels for critical business functions, while meeting operational support objectives.
- Lead network and security infrastructure projects, evaluating new technologies and managing their design and implementation.
- Maintain a strong cybersecurity posture for Shirlyn Technology by implementing best practices in information security, in accordance with industry standards, federal and local laws.
Job Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in software development, preferably in a security or IT-related environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, JavaScript, Typescript, Python, Bash).
- Expertise in AWS cloud platform (or other cloud platforms like Azure, GCP) for building and maintaining secure cloud-based systems.
- Strong practical knowledge of industry IT standards and regulations.
- Experience with change management and preparing key metrics and management reports.
- Ability to work with highly technical teams on sensitive projects and information.
- High personal integrity with the ability to handle confidential matters and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong front-end UI design and development skills are a plus.
- Experience with React, microservices, SSO, SAML, and IdP (e.g., Azure) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, Firewalls, NAC, SIEM, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience in security incident response, data loss prevention, compliance, and governance is a plus.

In security risk management we're looking to harness the power of industry best practice combined with driving new innovation on how we do security risk assessments and modelling. Our security risk management team is the primary owner of the strategy and practices of how we identify, track and reduce our security risk across everything we do.
To support this we need to use industry best practices paired with emerging threat information to to promote risk identification, quantification, impact analysis, and modelling to ultimately drive decision making. In this role, you will help establish and execute a broad strategic vision for the security risk program at Canonical. You will not only work within the team but also cross-functionally with various teams across the organisation. The team contributes ideas and requirements for Canonical product security, improving the resilience and robustness of all Ubuntu customers and users subject to cyber attacks. Additionally, the team collaborates with our Organisational Learning and Development team to develop playbooks and facilitate security training across Canonical.
The security risk management team's mission is not only to secure Canonical, but also to contribute to the security of the wider open source ecosystem. They might share knowledge through public presentations and industry events, and share threat intelligence with the wider community or represent Canonical in sector-specific governance bodies.
What you will do in this role:
- Define Canonical's security risk management standards and playbooks
- Analyse and improve Canonical's security risk practices
- Evaluate, select and implement new security requirements, tools and practices
- Grow the presence and thought leadership of Canonical security risk management practice
- Develop Canonical security risk learning and development materials
- Work with Security leadership to present information and influence change
- Participate in developing key risk indicators, provide inputs to the development of key control indicators, and key performance indicators for various programs
- Apply statistical models to risk frameworks (such as FAIR, sensitivity analysis, and others)
- Participate in risk management, decision-making, and collaborative discussions
- Lead quantified risk assessments and understand the value of qualitative data for improvements to quality and engineering processes
- Interpret internal or external cyber security risk analyses in business terms and recommend a responsible course of action
- Develop templates and materials to help with self-service risk management actions
- Monitor and identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of risk management processes
- Launch campaigns to perform security assessments and help mitigate security risks across the company
- Build evaluation methods and performance indicators to measure efficiency of security functions and capabilities.
