We are searching for a solid professional to join our inTEST team as an Mechanical Engineer that reports directly to the Director of Engineering and works at our Penang Malaysia facility. . This critical role supports the EMS business and is a part of the Electronic Test division. This division is on a trajectory of growth and provides an opportunity to support a global organization.
Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing test head positioners, docking hardware, and other electromechanical interfaces using knowledge of test heads and related handlers and probers, as well as specific customer requirements. The position formulates and effectively utilizes partnerships across the engineering disciplines to deliver value-added solutions to our customer critical challenges and reflects the business objectives of all stakeholders.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for attaining knowledge and experience in the application principles and practices of mechanical engineering; awareness of pertinent elements of such related fields industrial/manufacturing equipment, processing, and positioning systems.
- Works directly with internal and external customers, sales and marketing to ensure an understanding of product requirements.
- Analyze new product and product modification specifications, requirements, safety factor calculations, product proposals, and determine development feasibility. Estimate time and cost requirements to develop and build end system assemblies.
- Take projects all the way from concept brainstorming, through detailed design, prototype fabrication and testing, production release, and long-term customer sustaining which includes detailing of mechanical parts for fabrication including tubes, sheet metals, frame structures, and supporting assembly instructions.
- Will support production staff in the execution of production product builds using DVT methodologies and continuous improvement of assembly instructions, tools sets, and physical building of the end products.
- Will observe and adhere to all safety rules and practices. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, hazard-free condition, reporting all defective equipment or hazardous conditions. Perform other related duties as required by management.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- BSME / MSME
- Minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience; 10 years preferred
- SolidWorks or related 3D design experience; required
- Formal Training in SolidWorks, Cosmos and Flo Works highly desired
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Experience performing stress and deflection analysis using FEA and other methods.
- Experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Experience with motorized and/or automated systems
- Knowledge of strengths of materials
- Knowledge of drafting standards and practices (GD&T)
- Ability to use MS Office Product Suite and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
