Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Unix System Administrator to manage and support enterprise-level Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, middleware platforms (JBoss, WebLogic), and messaging platforms (IBM MQ, Apache Kafka). The role involves installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability of systems and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers in physical and virtualized environments.
- Administer and manage middleware platforms including JBoss EAP and Oracle WebLogic Server .
- Manage messaging systems: IBM MQ (queues, channels, security) and Apache Kafka (brokers, topics, partitions).
- Perform system and application performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Plan and apply OS and middleware patches/upgrades with minimal downtime.
- Monitor system health, capacity, and security using appropriate tools.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting or Ansible.
- Work with application teams for deployment and environment configuration.
- Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and failover readiness.
- Document configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
Required Technical Skills:
- Operating Systems: RHEL 7/8 (installation, tuning, security hardening).
- Middleware: JBoss EAP, Oracle WebLogic (deployment, clustering, JVM tuning).
- Messaging: IBM MQ administration, Kafka setup & monitoring.
- Scripting: Bash, Shell, or Python for automation.
- Tools: Ansible, Nagios/Zabbix/Prometheus, Git.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with application and infrastructure teams.
- Ability to work under pressure in production support environments.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with containerization (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
