Your Challenges Are

You will actively shape the future-oriented implementation and support the complex SAP S/4HANA applications for the transportation management processes (including SAP Logistic Execution–Transportation (LE-TRA) and SAP S/4HANA Transportation Management) that are used worldwide. You are interested in further developing and optimizing the IT solutions used in the transportation management processes. You are familiar with the new ways and agile methods for accelerating the implementation of IT Solutions. You will translate the requirements of our internal partners into preliminary studies and technical concepts and work in global project teams on demanding and complex projects, sub-projects, and work packages in the field of transportation management and logistics systems. You will support the Run operation including corrective maintenance, housekeeping, participate in internal & external audits, and monitoring & troubleshooting to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day business. You will be in regular contact with colleagues and key users worldwide, organizing and processing requests for the support and optimization of business processes. You will seamlessly operate in a multicultural international environment. Discussions, problem solving, documentation and conducting training courses in English are no problem for you and are rather the rule.

What We Are Looking For

You have a university degree in (business) informatics or (business) engineering or a comparable qualification. You have several years of professional experience with a focus on the creation of innovative concepts, in the implementation and implementation of projects, in the takeover of the operation and support of SAP applications (focus: transportation management SAP LE-TRA / SAP TM plus integration to neighboring logistics applications). You are interested in new technologies for further automation and simplification of processes and see yourself as an asset and driver of such topics within an innovative IT and product organization. You are familiar with SAP development technologies including ABAP, HANA database, user interfaces and platforms. You are a strong communicator. You are able to present your ideas to all levels - in the team, vis-à-vis users and management. You enjoy operating and developing in a multicultural international environment. Travel to other locations, both national and international, a few weeks per year, is no problem for you. A leading multinational logistics organization is looking to hire a dynamic and experienced Head of Operations to oversee end-to-end logistics functions across Malaysia. This strategic role offers a competitive monthly salary of MYR 25,000 to 30,000 and is ideal for a seasoned operations leader with strong logistics expertise and a passion for continuous improvement.

Overview of the Role

Reporting directly to the Country General Manager, the Head of Operations will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of logistics and supply chain operations—including transportation, warehousing, freight, distribution centers, and field services. This position plays a key role in managing relationships with key clients and third-party logistics (3PL) providers while ensuring service excellence and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Oversight

• Lead daily operational functions across transportation, warehousing, and field service.
• Supervise distribution center performance, including those in East Malaysia.
• Ensure cold chain and HALAL compliance where applicable.

Warehouse & Distribution Management

• Optimize warehouse operations for capacity, cost, and compliance.
• Set SOPs aligned with regulatory and quality standards.
• Address operational issues such as cost overruns, process bottlenecks, and service gaps.
• Lead strategy for expanding business capabilities and capturing new market opportunities.

Transportation & Fleet Management

• Manage nationwide routing and deliveries to 300+ retail outlets.
• Maintain and optimize a fleet of over 30 trucks.
• Drive initiatives to reduce transportation costs while ensuring service reliability.
• Oversee daily freight activities, particularly in the export market.
• Ensure cost-effective freight strategies while maintaining profitability.
• Establish freight policies aligned with international standards.

Field Services

• Lead logistics support for store rollouts and nationwide delivery efficiency.
• Oversee routine capacity assessments and optimization projects in partnership with clients.

Financial & Strategic Planning

• Prepare and manage departmental budgets and overall P&L performance.
• Develop long-term strategies for operational scalability and revenue growth.
• Support investment decisions in logistics infrastructure, tools, and human capital.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the key point of contact for strategic clients including major F&B chains.
• Maintain high service levels and proactively resolve client-related issues.
• Promote cost-saving and service-improvement initiatives to key accounts.
• Inspire and lead a team of managers across various logistics functions.
• Develop KPIs and performance management systems for direct reports.
• Drive talent development initiatives including training in continuous improvement methodologies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
• At least 5 years of relevant senior-level experience in operations, ideally within the logistics or supply chain sector.
• Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams and large-scale logistics operations.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Based primarily in an office setting, with regular visits to cold storage and dry warehouse sites.
• Occasional travel for external meetings and distribution center oversight.

• A good command of English is required. Proficiency in other regional languages is a plus
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently, multitask, and prioritize effectively.

The new role :

This role involves direct engagement with customers, overseeing sales pipelines, and implementing strategies to meet business growth targets. Key Accountabilities Develop and execute a robust sales plan focused on acquiring new clients and expanding services with current clients. Identify business opportunities across import/export freight services, customs clearance, and warehousing, and monitor competitor activity and market trends. Build and maintain relationships with key customers, decision-makers, and local stakeholders. The Head of Field Sales will be a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing and directing the entire field sales function across Malaysia. This role involves developing and executing a cohesive sales strategy to drive new business acquisition and revenue growth across all freight forwarding services, including air, sea, and cross-border logistics. The Head of Field Sales will be accountable for managing and mentoring a team of Field Sales team, who in turn lead teams of executives, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and market expansion goals.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver country field sales budget (volume & GP) and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve business growth targets for the country, in alignment with regional and global objectives.
• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Field Sales Managers across different countries, providing strategic guidance, setting performance standards, and fostering a high-performance sales culture.
• Oversee the sales pipeline and team performance, ensuring robust reporting, forecasting, and the effective use of CRM tools to track progress against KPIs.
• Drive market development by identifying new business opportunities, monitoring competitor activity and market trends, and providing strategic input on pricing and service offerings.
• Act as a key escalation point for complex client issues and maintain strong relationships with major clients and stakeholders to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
• Collaborate with internal departments, including Operations, Customer Service, and Technology, to ensure seamless service delivery and the development of integrated solutions that meet customer needs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• 8-10 years of experience in freight forwarding, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership or management role overseeing multi-team sales function.
• Extensive progressive experience in freight forwarding sales, with a significant portion of that time in a senior leadership or management role overseeing a multi-country or multi-team sales function.
• Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing sales strategies that drive significant revenue growth and market share.
• Deep knowledge of international logistics, INCOTERMS, customs procedures, and trade regulations across the Southeast Asian market.
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team management skills with a proven ability to motivate and develop a diverse sales force.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic presentation skills in English. Proficiency in other regional languages is a plus.
• Willingness to travel extensively as required for team meetings, client visits, and industry events.
