- A new manufacturing facility is being established in Senai Ipark, Johor Bahru, specializing in medical devices, injection molding, and precision engineering. Job Description:
1. Mold Design & Development:
- Design and develop molds for plastic injection molding, ensuring they meet product specifications and manufacturing standards.
- Collaborate with the R&D and production teams to create innovative tooling solutions.
2. Tooling Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of existing molds to ensure consistent product quality and production efficiency.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to mold performance, wear, and defects.
3. Medical Plastics Expertise:
- Apply expertise in medical plastics to design and develop molds for medical-grade plastic products.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for medical plastics.
4. Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to improve mold design and manufacturing processes to reduce cycle time, improve quality, and minimize costs.
- Implement best practices in tooling design and manufacturing to enhance overall efficiency.
5. Quality Assurance:
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure molds produce components that meet or exceed quality standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify mold performance and product quality.
- Liaise with external suppliers and vendors for mold fabrication, repair, and modification services.
- Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
7. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of mold designs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare detailed reports on tooling performance, including recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and R&D, to support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mold design and tooling within the plastic manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software for mold design and analysis.
- Expertise in medical plastics is a significant advantage.
- Fluent in Mandarin, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, and tooling techniques.

What You’ll Deliver
- Improve platform reliability, performance, and scalability through infrastructure tooling and automation.
- Integrate platform capabilities with enterprise IT systems and services.
- Champion the use of DevOps, CI/CD practices, and Infrastructure-as-Code across teams.
- Monitor system health and contribute to disaster recovery and resilience strategies.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure internal platforms support business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary liaison for all customer technical discussions—internal and external—including negotiations, clarifications, and timely delivery of requirements.

Interpret, validate, and propose improvements based on customer inputs and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain up-to-date procedures that reflect the latest quality system updates, customer-specific configurations, and regulatory standards.
Prepare comprehensive reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data for actionable recommendations.
Cascade organizational goals into measurable individual and team KPIs, and monitor progress to ensure alignment.
Ensure strict adherence to compliance standards such as AS9100, NADCAP, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and all relevant customer-specific standards.
Own and drive the achievement of KPIs with consistent monitoring and improvement.
Contribute to overall team success by proactively supporting related initiatives and goals.
Adhere to administrative and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures and requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Experience : Minimum of 20 years in Tooling, Design, Quality, or Project Management, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
Technical Expertise :
Strong proficiency in Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) .
Prior experience in compliance-driven manufacturing environments .
Familiarity with CATIA is a strong advantage.
Leadership & Management :
Proven track record in leading engineering or technical teams effectively.
Ability to develop strategic plans and drive execution across departments.
Analytical & Problem-Solving :
Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and strategic planning capabilities.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English .

Job Description
- Evaluate customer part designs and prepare the DFM documents.
- Develop injection mould tools in accordance with part design requirements.
- Evaluate tool designs for manufacturability, functionality, longevity, and prepare the DFM documents.
- Coordinate with suppliers and toolmakers for new tooling and tool modifications.

About The Role
- The Principal Tooling Designer will provide centralized support for the Mold, Trim & Form and other tooling design needs of Assembly Technology and Package R&D across Back-End sites through design conceptualization, risk assessment, and discussions with suppliers for prototyping and industrialization.
What you will do:
- Generate the design concept for mold and trim & form tool supporting the new package development of R&D and Projects of Assembly Technology using Auto-Cad and 3D software.
- Conduct dimensional analysis, stack tolerancing review, mold flow simulations, and stress analysis to determine the manufacturability and reliability of the design.
- Generate a breakthrough design to lower the Die-free Package Cost (DFPC), improve the quality, solve the performance issues, and/or introduce innovation.
- Lead the technical discussion with potential suppliers to transform the concept into a more detailed and working tooling design. Lead the design review prior to the prototype or industrialization tool build.
- Generate and/or review the Purchase Order Specification for new design mold and trim & form tooling.
- Conduct tooling technology benchmarking and scouting such as new material, coating, design concept, and alternative suppliers.
- Establish tooling design rules, tooling design process flow and maintain a cross-site database for the design concepts.
- Generate detailed drawings and conduct tooling-related training when required.
- Travel to Nexperia sites and suppliers to participate in workshops, benchmarking, trainings, conventions, and project discussions.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Tool & Die, or Equivalent).
- At least 10 years of working experience in Semiconductor Companies focusing on Mold and Trim & form tooling.
- Experienced in mold tool designs of known OEMs such as Towa, ASM, MGP, Besi, and others.
- Experienced in different mold tool designs such as transfer mold, compression mold, vacuum mold, film-assisted mold, and others.
- Experienced in mold flow simulation, tonnage calculations, and other relevant computations for mold tool designs. Knowledgeable in various Epoxy Mold Compound (EMC).
- Experienced in DTFS tooling design of known OEMs (BESI, Hanmi, ASM). Well-versed in design fundamentals.
- Expert in designing software applications such as Autocad, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor or equivalent.
- Experienced in various types of materials and coating being used for Mold and trim & form tooling.
- Knowledgeable in basic machining, and fabrication process of tooling.
- Expert in Tooling Drawing and Tolerancing and GD&T. Experienced in FMEA, DOE, Problem Solving tools, and QC tools.
- Direct and indirect leadership experience in leading cross-cultural teams.
- Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills
- Background in project management.
