Coordinate the overall management and efficient operation of the operating theatre. Compliance to professional and ethical practice. Accountable for coordinating training, development and mentoring of staff in the Unit. Expected to apply and manage the best and most effective operational practice by focusing on the integration of current and available resources.
Requirements*
- Degree in nursing with Post Basic in Peri Operative Nursing
- Possess valid APC
- More than 15 years' experience in nursing with managerial hands-on in operating theatre
- Excellent organisational skills and interpersonal skills
- Computer Literacy essential
- Analytical thinking
- Must be able to function effectively independently

- Adherence to Patient Safety Goals; Save Surgery Save Live involves accurately identifying patients, preparing them for procedures, checking patients with staff, noting abnormalities, and referring patients to the surgeon and anesthetist if necessary.
- Escort patients into the operating rooms safely and record all cases in the Operation Theatre Record Book.
- Check and label specimens properly after each case, confirming with the surgeon, if necessary, before sending them to the laboratory or pathology services.
- Provides personalized, holistic patient care using the nursing process approach, maintaining accurate documentation in patient folders, and promptly reporting any abnormal findings to relevant doctors or consultants.
- Evaluate patients, provide emotional support and accompanying doctors while doing rounds, as well as assisting in procedures as needed.
- Executing the doctor's orders, coordinating with team members related to the patient’s treatment, and fostering effective communication with all disciplines, patients, and relatives to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Engage in the health education of patients and their families, unit meetings, dialogue sessions, and hospital activities.
- Produce clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication with patients, ensuring their understanding of their condition, treatment options, and care plan comprehensively.
- Collaborate with the unit manager in administration, setting care standards, and fulfilling duties in the absence of the unit manager, while also carrying out assigned tasks and providing feedback.
- Charge accurately, incorporating charges for equipment and consumable items into the patient's charges and verifying their completeness.
- Inspect and document the supply of sterile packs to ensure the integrity of the packaging and maintain an adequate supply of unit stock from Central Sterile Supply Services.
- Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing.
- Registered with the Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Post Basic qualification in a related field.
- Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of clinical experience and diversity in clinical experience.
- Possess certifications in BLS, ACLS, MTLS, PALS and NRP (according to the specialties)
- Proficient in writing and conversing in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Caring, honest, and responsible workers and team players.
- Microsoft Office literacy.
- Good leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Critical thinking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
