What's the role? The purpose of the role is to design, develop, test, and operate a complex set of applications or platforms in a specific area. The role involves the utilization of advanced tools and analytical methods for gathering facts to develop solution scenarios. The job holder needs to be able to execute quality codes, review codes and supervise external developers.What does the role involve? We are looking for a passionate Test Automation Engineer with at least 8+ years of experience to join one of our strategic IT locations: PJ, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and work closely with many other colleagues from HILTI globally.
As a Test Automation Engineer, you will be part of The Application Landscape Management Team. Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Gather business requirements and translate them into a technical solution.
Design, develop, and execute the test automation scripts.
Actively resolve and improve test automation passing rate to establish long-term solutions.
Keep up to date with the latest industry developments in Enterprise test automation.
Work closely with team members to build automated test suites to verify the quality, security, and scalability.

The Product Owner will guide you to understand our existing test automation framework and development guidelines and support you in collaborating with the stakeholders.

Your contribution will ensure the quality of our IT systems and deliver tangible values to Hilti Business now and in the future. Therefore, we are focusing on building the in-house Test Automation expertise, and here we want you to grow your career with us and be part of our exciting journey!

This role provides a unique opportunity to work on multiple test automation frameworks, manage test automation suites as a product, and work closely with stakeholders. You should possess good teamwork skills, a high level of coordination skills, and confidence in front of stakeholders. What you need is:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science or related technical discipline with a Cumulative Grade Point Average > 3.0.
Proficient with any common programming languages and debugging skills.
A good understanding of the fundamentals of Software Testing methodologies and strong knowledge of any Test Automation frameworks, especially Tricentis Tosca, is an advantage.
Ensure high quality of deliverables while enforcing test automation design best practices.
Practical experience in Agile Software Development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban is an advantage.
Excellent interpersonal skills and well-balanced, adaptive communication style; ability to explain complex topics in simple terms.
To be very passionate about learning new things, regardless of challenges.
To have strong structural, analytical, and critical thinking
Fluent in English (verbally and written).

Job Purposes

To design, develop, and maintain test automation scripts that enhance testing efficiency, expand test coverage, and improve the overall reliability of key software functionalities.
The ideal candidate will ensure the quality and stability of software products through robust, automated testing and continuous refinement of testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain automated test scripts for one of the company's core solutions (e.g. Regulatory Payment Solutions), covering end-to-end integrated application flows.
Perform manual testing as needed to gain insights for effective automation strategies.
Design and implement test automation solutions that improve test coverage, efficiency and reliability across multiple product modules and sub-components.
Collaborate closed with development teams to understand new features, define testing requirements, and ensure testability.
Execute automated test suites, analyse test results, and verify application behavior against expected outcomes, including screen functionality and database validations.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of test frameworks and processes.
Identify opportunities for enhanced automation and lead implementation efforts to optimize testing efforts.
Log, track, and manage defects through resolution, working collaboratively with software engineers to ensure high-quality releases.
Create and maintain reusable test automation frameworks and tools to streamline testing efforts.
Communicate automated testing progress, results and key quality metrics to relevant stakeholders.
Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in test automation and quality engineering.

Job Requirements

Candidate should possess a Diploma / Advanced Diploma, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Test Automation Engineer or in a similar role.
Preferably at least 2 - 3 years of related working experience, or in Software Engineering.
Strong knowledge of automation tools (e.g. TestNG, Playwright, Pytest, Katalon, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, etc.)
Expertise in at least 2 key areas of testing - web, mobile, API/backend, security, performance.
Proficient in programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, C, C#, etc) and SQL queries.
Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Bitucket, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
Fintech Banking, Financial Institutions, Cards & Payments, and IT Industry.
Familiarity with Moden Tech Stack and Agile development methodologies.
Strong understanding of Software Development, Soreware Testing methodologies and principle, Competencies & Skills.
Good communication skills in English language for both spoken and written

IT Systems Software Analysis & Programming focuses on programming & configuration of IT Systems Software (i.e. software for use in operating/controlling hardware and providing a platform for running internal end user/business applications). The work includes:

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation Scripts Development

Develop and maintain automated test scripts for one of the company’s core products (e.g., Cardworks), covering end-to-end integrated application flows.
Perform manual testing as needed to gain insights for effective automation strategies.
Design and implement test automation solutions that improve test coverage, efficiency, and reliability across multiple product modules and sub-components.
Collaborate closely with development teams to understand new features, define testing requirements, and ensure testability.
Execute automated test suites, analyse test results, and verify application behaviour against expected outcomes, including screen functionality and database validations.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of test frameworks and processes.
Identify opportunities for enhanced automation and lead implementation efforts to optimize testing efforts.
Log, track, and manage defects through resolution, working collaboratively with developers to ensure high-quality releases.
Create and maintain reusable test automation frameworks and tools to streamline testing efforts.
Communicate automated testing progress, results, and key quality metrics to relevant stakeholders.
Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in test automation and quality engineering.

Mentorship & Leadership

Mentor and coach junior TAEs in test automation best practices, frameworks, and tool usage.
Review and provide constructive feedback on test scripts written by junior team members to ensure quality and consistency.
Establish and promote standards for coding, documentation, and testing within the automation team.
Lead by example in following testing and development best practices, setting a strong technical and professional standard.
Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions or training workshops to upskill the team in emerging tools, frameworks, or techniques.
Support onboarding of new team members by introducing them to automation processes and tools.
Guide test strategy and planning, particularly in identifying what should be automated and prioritizing automation efforts.
Collaborate with QA leads and developers to align automation efforts with project goals and timelines.
Drive innovation by exploring and implementing new tools, frameworks, or approaches to improve automation efficiency.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Academic Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Test Automation Engineer or in a similar role.

Professional Qualification (Optional)

ISTQB-CTFL (Certified Tester Foundation Level)
ISTQB-CT-TAE (Certified Tester Test Automation Engineer)

Min Years Of Experience

Minimum of 5 years' experience in Test Automation Engineer, or in Software Engineering with a focus on testing.

Experience In

Strong knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Playwright, Katalon, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, etc.).
Expertise in at least 2 key areas of testing – web, mobile, API/backend, security, performance.
Proficient in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C, C#, etc.) and SQL queries.
Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
Fintech, Banking, Financial Institutions, Cards & Payments, and IT industry.

Familiarity With

Modern tech stack and Agile development methodologies.
Strong understanding of Software Development, Software Testing methodologies and principles.

Strong logical/analytical thinking, independent, organised, creative and able to work in a fast-paced environment, excellent problem-solving skills.
Collaborative; Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

We are seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer to automate the testing processes for our data processing, analytics, and visualization engine. You will focus on building test frameworks that ensure the reliability, performance, and accuracy of our complex data pipelines and visualization tools.

Key Responsibilities

Automation of Data Processing & Visualization Testing: Develop and maintain automated test scripts for validating the functionality, performance, and accuracy of data processing pipelines, analytics algorithms, and visualization dashboards.
Data Pipeline & Engine Testing: Ensure the entire data pipeline, from ingestion to analysis to visualization, is thoroughly tested for reliability and integrity.
Performance Testing: Conduct load and performance testing to validate that the data analytics engine can handle large datasets and high volumes of data requests in real-time.
End-to-End Testing: Implement comprehensive end-to-end test automation covering all phases of the data lifecycle, including preprocessing, analysis, visualization, and report generation.
Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with data engineers, architects, and developers to define test strategies, integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines, and ensure high test coverage for analytics features.
Innovation in Testing Tools: Research and integrate new test automation tools and methodologies to improve the quality and efficiency of data testing.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvements in the testing process to increase test accuracy, reduce test cycle time, and improve test automation coverage for the data analytics system.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 8+ years of experience in software testing, with significant experience automating testing for data-intensive applications.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or JavaScript for writing test scripts and automating test cases.
Automation Tools: Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or similar tools for UI and data-driven testing.
Data Expertise: In-depth understanding of data processing, ETL pipelines, and analytics engines. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases for validating data integrity.
Visualization Testing: Strong knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or D3.js and their specific testing requirements.
Performance Testing: Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) for data processing and analytics engines.
Agile & CI/CD: Familiarity with Agile development and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes, ensuring automated tests are part of the software delivery pipeline.
Collaboration: Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team to align on test strategies and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

Real-Time Data Testing: Experience testing real-time data processing systems and ensuring low-latency, high-performance analytics pipelines.
Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) for deploying and testing data analytics applications.
Machine Learning Models: Knowledge of testing workflows involving AI/ML models, including data pre-processing, feature engineering, and model validation.
Security Testing: Experience with security testing in the context of data analytics, ensuring privacy and protection of sensitive data.
DevOps Practices: Experience integrating automated tests into DevOps pipelines for seamless deployment and testing.

Job Description

Responsibilities :

Automation Development

Build and maintain scalable and reusable test automation frameworks using Java, Selenium, Cucumber, and Appium.
Develop BDD-style test cases and ensure clear, readable test documentation.
Create, maintain, and execute automated UI, API, and regression test suites.

Test Strategy & Execution

Participate in test planning, requirement analysis, and sprint grooming.
Identify test cases suitable for automation and prioritize accordingly.
Ensure high test coverage and maintain reliable pipelines for CI/CD environments.

Quality Advocacy

Collaborate with developers and product teams to identify bugs early in the SDLC.
Champion shift-left testing, code quality, and continuous testing practices.
Analyze test failures, log defects, and verify fixes in staging/pre-prod.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in test automation or software quality engineering.
Strong programming skills in Java with a solid understanding of OOP principles.
Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver and Cucumber BDD.
Expertise in mobile automation using Appium (Android & iOS).
Experience with TestNG, Maven/Gradle, and automation utilities.
Familiarity with Git, JIRA, Confluence, and API testing (Postman).
