Job Description

This role is based in our Menara Skymind office.

We are looking for an Analyst to join our Consumer team in Penang.

Key Responsibilities
  • As Data Analyst you will support our TV and other consumer device research and will be expected to perform the following duties:
  • Responsible for Omdia's Global TV set and Consumer Electronics research services, including quarterly data reports on vendor sell-in shipment performance.
  • Working closely with global TV analysts to combine primary research findings with secondary data sources to create comprehensive market models.
  • Enhance country-level data accuracy by developing advanced methodologies and incorporating additional data sources that effectively fill gaps through strategic triangulation techniques.
  • Understand the TV data process, and terminology, and own the end-to-end data lifecycle of TV set data deliverables.
  • Data modelling, solutions and production of data deliverables based on client requirements, by using logical and efficient algorithms that can be implemented.
  • Translate business requirements into reports and deliverable structures. Proficient in Model Documentation.
  • Effectively manage issue escalations, adopting appropriate escalation pathways with minimum supervision.
  • Anticipation, early detection, prevention, and management of risks and issues impacting deliverables and the research process.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and methodologies in data acquisition and analysis.
Measures of Success
  • On-time delivery of research deliverables
  • Quality and accuracy of market intelligence
  • Peer feedback and client satisfaction/retention
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree with a specialization in business, economics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, commerce and/or data science is preferred. Bachelor's degree in one of the above specializations is a must.
  • Prior experience of four years or more in data science, data modelling and analysis, with experience in data cleaning, data visualization and data translation.
  • Extremely comfortable with Microsoft Excel, Power BI and PowerQuery.
  • Highly proficient in Python and libraries such as pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Beautiful Soup, pysftp and pyodbc and adequate knowledge of working with various file formats such as Parquet, JSON, csv.
  • Basic level knowledge of AWS S3, Lambda, Athena would be nice to have. Enough to navigate and make necessary minor changes to code that we have hosted online, if necessary.
  • Good understanding of data management and metadata.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Experience and knowledge in relevant technology are preferred.

Key Responsibilities: As Data Analyst you will support our TV and other consumer device research and will be expected to perform the following duties: Responsible for Omdia's Global TV set and Consumer Electronics research services, including quarterly data reports on vendor sell-in shipment performance. Working closely with global TV analysts to combine primary research findings with secondary data sources to create comprehensive market models. Enhance country-level data accuracy by developing advanced methodologies and incorporating additional data sources that effectively fill gaps through strategic triangulation techniques. Understand the TV data process, and terminology, and own the end-to-end data lifecycle of TV set data deliverables. Translate business requirements into reports and deliverable structures. Proficient in Model Documentation. Extremely comfortable with Microsoft Excel, Power BI and PowerQuery. What you’ll be working on
  • Video Shooting
    • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs to audio and video equipment.
    • Effectively manage time and schedules to meet deadlines.
    • Maintain accurate records of production work.
    • Configure, operate, and maintain studio and/or field audio, lighting, and associated production equipment.
    • Possess knowledge of computerized tape editing applications and procedures.
    • Understand professional audio and/or video tape editing and post-production procedures, techniques, and standards.
  • Photo Shooting

    • Edit and retouch images to enhance quality.

What we’re looking for
  • Professional Certificate, Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree/Postgraduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Advertising, Media, Creative Multimedia, or equivalent fields.
  • Must be creative and skilled in concept development and ideation.
  • Languages required: Mandarin and English — proficiency is essential for effective communication and content accuracy.
  • Experience Level: Junior. Fresh graduates with a portfolio are encouraged to apply.
  • Able to understand and adapt to management objectives, and translate them into professional video clips in a timely manner.
