**Summary**
Systems & Applications Design is an interdisciplinary field of engineering that works with cross functional teams of other engineers, customers, supply chain and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development.
The Senior Lead Engineer, Systems/Applications designs, integrates, and manages complex systems over their life cycles. They are engineering leads engaged in issues such as requirements engineering, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, testing and evaluation, maintainability and many other disciplines necessary for successful system design, development, implementation, and ultimate decommission. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. #LI-LX1
**Detailed Description**
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
+ Enabling Common Automation Platform for global HPS by collaborating with NA HPS.
+ Strong in Python scripting and having experience to enable automation infrastructure.
+ Handling framework design, documentation, rules and automation solutions across all sites.
+ Creating libraries and APIs, test and deployment.
+ Having some system level understanding and enabling automation per test cases.
+ Working as the system test automation engineer for Switch, Server, and Storage product design verification tests which can be automated.
+ Support function test cases for automation enabling.
+ Support second source verification by looking at the automation opportunity.
+ Understand test setup for the development team.
+ Ensure the quality of design products and minimize defects escapes to customers.
+ Ensure the validation task is finished timely by well scheduled time frame, improving the test efficiency and automating the test execution.
**Knowledge/Skills/Competencies**
+ Knowing Python is a must
+ At least 5 years and above of Python Scripting experience.
+ Linux administration knowledge is a must.
+ Knowing Robot framework is added value.
+ Good oral and writing skills in English.
+ Team player and independently
**Physical Demands**
+ Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
+ Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
+ Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
+ Occasional travel may be required.
**Typical Experience**
+ 15+ years of overall relevant experience preferred.
+ 8+ years of PCBA engineering experience in the server, switch, and access switch fields
**Typical Education**
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or EE or similar with relevant working experience.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities:**
+ Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards
+ Develop creative and innovative solutions that are reliable and cost-effective for problems and challenges when they arise
+ Apply expertise to the most complex problems
+ Manage own time to meet objectives and (as Lead Engineer) forecast and plan resource requirements

+ Present design solutions or topics at "lunch and learns"; etc.)
+ Assist the Department Manager in identifying departmental needs, including the development of personnel and technical capabilities
+ Participate in McDermott forums and represent McDermott as a subject matter expert (SME)
+ Provide information on employee performance to the Discipline Manager
+ Assist the Discipline manager in interviewing job applicants
+ Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing of various items as assigned
+ Identify vendor assistance for installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning purposes
+ Update electrical load list, P&IDs, and equipment lists based on receipt of vendor information
+ Participate in HAZOP meetings, as necessary
+ Participate in 3D model reviews, as necessary
+ When acting as Lead Engineer, in addition:
+ Act as project-based Discipline point of contact in communications and meetings with Customer counterparts
+ Ensure substantive communications are documented
+ Prepare bids and project's Discipline engineering budget and execution plans, updating as required
+ Identify project staff needs based on knowledge of individual engineers' skill sets and provide requests to the Discipline manager
+ Plan, organize, and assign tasks, responsibilities, and manhour budgets to the discipline team, and verify tasks are completed within budgets
+ Plan Discipline Level 4 detail deliverable schedule/ register compliant with the overall execution plan
+ Prepare working forecasts identifying change management plans, corrective action, and real-time schedule
+ Provide Discipline inputs for actual, planning, and forecasting progress reports, including associated productivity
+ Alert the project team of any deviation from the scope or a need for a change order
+ Monitor progress measurement results and take corrective action as necessary to improve Discipline performance, including performance at interfaces with others
+ Coordinate with other Discipline Lead Engineers and Designers to ensure timely receipt of necessary design inputs
+ Review and approve requisitions, technical quotation evaluations, and queries, compiled bid tabulations and recommendations and purchase requisitions; and coordinate with Procurement to expedite vendor documents as required
+ Lead the Discipline team during project audits (internal, Customer, and third-party technical audits) and design Reviews
+ Review comments from Customers & other agencies on documents and drawings produced by the team, and resolve and give guidance on their update and incorporation
+ Assist the Discipline manager in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and workforce planning
+ Anticipate project engineering needs and plan accordingly
+ Coordinate with vendor for discipline-managed/procured items
+ Assist the Discipline manager and Project Engineering Manager or Project Manager in the Performance Evaluation of project team members
+ Check and Approve Mechanical equipment list, spare parts list, and special tools list
+ Check and Participate in Approval of detailed engineering documents/ deliverables such as:
+ Mechanical Equipment Specifications and datasheets
+ Mechanical handling philosophy report and associated requisitioning for handling equipment
+ Noise report prepared by a consultant to ensure it complies with Project requirements
+ Lubrication schedule, spare parts schedule
Reports to:
Project: Lead Engineer, Project Engineering Manager or Project Manager
Functional: Supervising Engineer or Department Manager
Liaise With: All Engineering disciplines, Safety Department, Project Management Team, Document Control, Project Planner,
Project Cost Controller, QC and Certification Group, Procurement Group, Subcontractors, Vendors, and Customers
Supervises: Principal Mechanical Engineers, Senior Mechanical Engineers and Mechanical Engineers
**Essential Qualifications and Education:**
+ Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering
+ 20+ years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultants predominantly performing detail design
+ Detailed knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods and detailed knowledge of the theory, content, and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable to offshore
+ Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills
+ Recognized across the company as a key lead, highly innovative designer, or highly skilled analyst
+ Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society as applicable
+ Seasoned knowledge of engineering standards and specifications
+ Good knowledge of engineering software
+ Good working knowledge of the English language
+ HSE, TQM, and cost-conscious
+ Good organizer, motivator, and supervisor
+ Keen on improving the effectiveness of the work
+ Show flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to:
+ The replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays
+ The provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workloads (also other projects) when possible/desirable
+ The managing/learning of current working methods and software applications
+ The reassignment to other McDermott offices
