The Field Service Engineer is responsible for performing on-site installation, maintenance, service repair and support for Markem-Imaje products and services.

What you will do:

  • Provide customer satisfaction through technical service, installation, operation, training and repair of our products and systems.
  • Perform on-site product installation on customer premises.
  • Provide training and technical advice on the product use in person and via phone.
  • Investigate problems, provide solutions and arrange for repairs to be made.
  • Monitor repairs in terms of the organization’s service / warranty cover and provide suggestions to product improvements.
  • Schedule and carry out planned maintenance calls and performance regular customers visits.
  • Monitors and adheres to field service policies, procedures and technical standards.
  • Recommend spare needs and assist with monitoring equipment.
  • Provide sales support to the Sales team for both existing and potential customers in terms of new applications, software and demonstrations.

What you need to have:

  • Good technical knowledge and skills on the Company’s products and services.
  • Ability to demonstrate logical thinking process to troubleshoot and leverage on materials and internal resources to resolve situations.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Good level of customer relationship management skills.
  • Good communication, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-oriented, personable and a team player.
  • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • 2 to 5 years of field service experience in medium industrial or commercial equipment.
  • Must possess a driving license.

Overview

Field Service Engineer role at Innomotics in Shah Alam, Malaysia. We are looking for a Senior Service Engineer to join our team. Responsibilities
  • Installation & Commissioning: Install, configure, and commission VFD systems for MV motors at customer sites. Perform system integration with PLC/DCS and other automation systems. Ensure proper wiring, grounding, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair VFD-related faults (hardware, software, and communication). Conduct preventive maintenance and performance checks. Provide root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Technical Support: Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers. Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex issues. Support warranty claims, service reports, and technical documentation.
  • Customer Interaction: Act as the first point of contact for field service inquiries. Train customer staff on VFD operation, safety, and maintenance. Build strong customer relationships and ensure high satisfaction.
Requirements Experience
  • 2–5 years (Engineer) / 5–10 years (Senior Engineer) of field experience with VFDs and motor control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with LV and/or MV drives from major manufacturers (e.g., Siemens / Innomotics, ABB, Schneider, Rockwell, Danfoss, Yaskawa).
  • Knowledge of motor technologies (induction, synchronous, PM motors).
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of VFD hardware, power electronics, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control drawings.
  • Competency in using test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, insulation tester, etc.).
  • Knowledge of PLC/DCS integration is an added advantage.
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-oriented with ability to handle pressure in field environments.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (local and overseas assignments).
Other Requirements
  • Valid driving license (if role involves site visits).
  • Ability to work in industrial environments (factories, oil & gas plants, utilities, etc.).
  • Commitment to safety practices and standards.
