Job Description

Responsible in assisting Laboratory Technical & Compliance Manager on day-to-day laboratory operation for assigned section towards direction of effective implementation of quality system ISO/IEC 17025, SAMM policy and SGS GCSC requirement

  • Assist Technical Advisor /Technical Specialist on the new method development as per business need.
  • Respond to queries raise by customer / business / customer support team within agreed timeframe, with minimal supervision from Technical Advisor/ Specialist
  • Collaborate with Operation team on investigation and deliver the outcome of investigation professionally to the party who raise the queries within agreed timeframe
  • Periodically review, enhance and update of Working Instruction and Standard Operating Procedures when needed
  • Working towards enhancement of existing lab process/methodology for lab efficiency improvement
  • Work with laboratory operation team on root-cause investigation of all non-conformities and/or customer complaints with proposal of appropriate corrective and preventive actions to address the issue promptly.
  • Provide technical training to laboratory personnel to ensure the laboratory competency and conduct refreshment training when needed.
  • Insight into new technologies and initiative for enhancement
  • Assist to ensure Good Housekeeping and Good Laboratory practice in the laboratory.
  • Adherence to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy by uphold a good safety behavior and exercising necessary standard and process when carry out your responsibilities at all times to ensure compliance to the HSE requirements.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your reporting manager and/or Senior Management
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or any science related field from recognized university / college.
  • Experience in relevant analytical laboratory however fresh graduates with right and positive attitude are acceptable as training will be provided.
  • Good personality, independent and a good team player
  • Chinese language proficiency will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics & Insight Generation

  • Analyze large datasets across procurement, logistics, inventory, and supplier performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Build statistical and machine learning models to support demand forecasting, capacity planning, and supply risk mitigation.
  • Create scalable dashboards, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to empower cross-functional decision-making.

Business Strategy & Partnership

  • Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, operations, and engineering teams to translate business questions into analytical frameworks.
  • Partner with leaders across Altera to align analytics strategies with long-term supply chain goals.
  • Support scenario modeling and strategic sourcing initiatives using advanced data tools and techniques.

Technology & Tools

  • Develop and maintain models and data pipelines using Python, SQL, R, and Power BI.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in data science, analytics, or supply chain strategy.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and advanced Excel; strong foundation in statistics and machine learning.
  • Familiarity with supply chain concepts including sourcing, inventory management, demand planning, and logistics.
  • Experience with ERP and SCM systems, such as SAP.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills to explain complex findings to business stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline (Operations Research, Data Science, Statistics, etc.).
