We focus on a broad variety of accounting and tax topics and are looking for a skilled and experienced tax accounting professional to join our Finance & Controlling (F&C) service hub in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and monitoring tax accounting activities for a variety of international tax reporting standards across our global organization and will act as an international interface for our global and local F&C colleagues. The role requires a deep understanding of tax accounting principles and the ability to analyze and interpret tax accounts in multiple jurisdictions. Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with international finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely calculations of current and deferred taxes for quarterly and annual financial closing processes.
- Assist in the preparation of tax provisions for financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of domestic tax profiles and support compliance with local tax and accounting requirements.
- Gather and analyze tax data from global operations, prepare analyses and inputs for various international tax reports (current and deferred taxes, tax rate reconciliations, cash taxes), and provide insights into tax trends and opportunities.
- Collaborate to ensure tax data is reported accurately and consistently, identify opportunities to streamline and improve tax-related processes, and enhance efficiency and timeliness.
- Support global tax reporting and monitoring processes, including transfer pricing and global minimum tax (OECD Pillar 2).
- Assist with international ad hoc projects as needed.
- A degree in economics, finance, accounting, law or similar from a recognized university
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in an international accounting firm or in-house finance/accounting department of an international group of companies, with ability to provide practical solutions
- Basic understanding of tax systems in major jurisdictions, including the ability to compute and report tax provisions and interpret/apply local tax laws
- Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, high analytical capability, and good understanding of the business
- Knowledge and experience in MS Office, SAP and consolidation tools; proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with other tax accounting software is a plus
- Excellent command of written and spoken English; knowledge of other languages is a plus

About the roleThe Indirect Tax Analyst will be working with Kerry’s growing indirect tax team which is based in Kuala Lumpur. Kerry’s primary ERP system is SAP, with reporting from time to time from other systems and government portals. The indirect tax compliance work will either be done centrally or controlled centrally. Returns currently are mainly of a VAT/GST nature. Indirect tax is a transactional tax and in addition to preparing indirect tax returns, the indirect tax team works with other Kerry functions to ensure that the end-to-end business process is compliant and efficient.
Key responsibilities- Prepare to review stage periodic indirect tax returns (usually monthly)
- Prepare or review GST/VAT GL balance sheet account reconciliations and follow up on any open items (monthly)
- Keep Turnover Reconciliation up to date (compare between income in financial statements and sales in indirect tax returns).
- Organise the GST/VAT payments and submit returns from the SSC
- Prepare a monthly GST/VAT debtor report that corresponds with the VAT reconciliations
- Support the Indirect tax Team Lead in relation to standardisation / documentation of processes and controls for Europe indirect tax
- Ad hoc projects associated with indirect tax as needed e.g. audit preparation, process improvement, introduction of new systems e.g. new SAP deployments, acquisitions / disposals
- Assign GST/VAT rates to materials / products in master data workflow
- Review new customer and vendor set ups in master data workflow.
- Good knowledge of SAP
- Regional experience of GST/VAT compliance gained in an MNC or Shared Services environment
- Degree in Accounting/Finance with at least 3-5 years' relevant indirect tax experience
- High level of English language proficiency (spoken and written) as this is most widely used business language.
- Some shift work may be needed during transition periods
