PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overseeing ad-hoc transfer pricing

Preparation/review of transfer pricing analysis and reports.

Provide transfer pricing advice and recommendation to businesses and management.

Monitor changes on Malaysian transfer pricing legislation and guidelines, to assess

potential impact and effectively respond to tax changes.

Liaising with tax agents to complete transfer pricing report before due date.

Corporate Tax

Facilitate and manage the preparation of corporate tax computation by compiling and providing necessary information to tax agent for review and finalization of corporate tax return.

Review, check and validate the tax computation prepared by tax agent and ensure accurate and timely filing of the tax return.

Preparation and submission of under/over tax provision adjustments after the submission of corporate tax return.

To arrange for submission of CP204 and CP204A (9th month) and ensure the estimated tax payable is within the range to avoid any penalty for under/over-estimation.

Work closely with business to establish tax efficient process and leverage opportunities to deliver tax savings; and

Involve in any tax audits/compliance audits/internal audits and respond to the audit queries and in case of tax audits, manage preparation of required documents to address tax audit queries from tax authorities.

Support local reporting with monthly tax provision, auditor’s request on corporate tax status, tax status for group reporting.

  • To support and ensure e-Invoice compliance related matters, including participation in implementation of e-Invoice on going basis.


Provide advisory for all withholding tax related matters.

Review tax clauses & provide advice to relevant businesses on the withholding tax treatment; and

Review and ensure timely submission of withholding tax to tax authorities to avoid any late payment penalty.

Other ad-hoc activities deemed necessary to support finance tax functions

As and when required, the candidate may be required to provide support to other functions. Such requests would be initially assessed for its appropriateness by the management and would be of a nature such that no unreasonable demands are made of the candidate, and with expectations that is reasonable given the circumstances.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

5-6 years and above of working experience in Tax or Finance Reporting.

Have the knowledge of the relevant Tax Laws in Malaysia.

Self-starter and able to work efficiently under pressure.

Strong accounting and analytical skills.

Strong computer skills: proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point.

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Detail oriented & ability to multi-task.

Able to work independently.

Possess adequate skills and have extensive background in tax operations, preferably with a combination of in-house experience with a multinational enterprise and relevant Big 4 experience. Possess in-depth knowledge of corporate income taxes, indirect taxes and transfer pricing with familiarity with tax regimes and tax treaties in Asian region and UAE. Tax accounting review and completing reporting requirement under ASC 740 to ensure accurate, timely and complete filing of CIMA reporting

· Direct interaction with the client and their administrators to prepare/review annual filings and provide other ad-hoc services.

· Resolve queries on tax issues from clients or the tax authority and assists in tax dispute resolution.

· Works closely with the tax senior associates and tax associates on tax deliverables and ensure the timely completion of work and nurtures on-going relationships with clients.

· Draft responses for clients with more complex tax filings.

· Be involved in preparing tax returns, data collation and analysis, managing all tax compliance work and monitoring tax payment and refunds.

· Review tax risk profile of the client or organisation and make recommendations.

· Prepare complex tax computations and tax returns accurately.

· Constantly develop your understanding of current tax developments and industry trends.

· Collaborate with a tight knit team of highly qualified tax professionals.

  • Internal reporting: Review quarterly book closing tax schedules, year-end external auditor reports, and other tax packages (e.g., CPW). This includes group reporting schedules from the center for both Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Compliance - Direct Tax: Review work prepared by outsourced tax centers, including tax analysis reports, computations, and returns for relevant companies and trusts within the Nestlé group. Manage tax payable estimations, cash flow planning for tax payments and refunds, and monitor the overall tax position and effective tax rate.
  • Tax Risk Management (Documentation): Prepare and review analyses and records to ensure proper maintenance for tax return preparation and audits. This includes detailed tax analyses, finalization of deductions and incentives, and transfer pricing documentation for entities in Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Tax Appeal and Advisory: Prepare tax position papers, appeals, and defend the company's stance. Follow up with tax authorities on disputed matters. Provide tax advice on transactions, manage tax issues, and respond to queries from authorities.
  • Tax Value Creation and Awareness: Support the Group Tax Manager on tax projects and ad-hoc assignments. Manage tax audits, conduct staff training on tax awareness, and facilitate knowledge transfer within teams.
  • Process Improvement: Oversee tax compliance and governance, striving for greater efficiency and adherence to regulations.
What Will Make You Successful
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, with at least 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in taxation within a public accounting firm and/or FMCG industry.
  • Proven success in handling tax appeals and audit settlements with IRB and/or customs authorities.
  • Experience delivering presentations for training purposes.

We are looking for a Tax Manager to:

  • Provide Tax advisory, compliance and strategic support in the management of a wide range of tax related risks/ opportunities.
  • Create, protect and optimize value in the context of Nestlé's business objectives by managing Tax projects and Audits.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance of direct taxes via quality review of work, monitoring compliance and creating awareness.

A day in the life of Tax Manager.

  • Internal reporting : Review of Quarterly Book closing Tax schedules including year-end external auditors tax audit report and other tax package required (e.g. CPW). This also includes group reporting schedules from the center required for both MY and SG.
  • Compliance - direct tax : Review work prepared by outsourced tax center of competence in respect of tax analysis report, tax computations and tax returns for all relevant companies/ trust funds etc. in the Nestlé group. This includes estimation of tax payable to tax authorities, including the planning and management of cash flows for tax payments and refunds, and monitoring overall Nestlé group tax position and effective tax rate.
  • Tax risk management (Documentation) : Prepare and review analysis/ records and ensure they are properly maintained in a manner required to provide data for the preparation of tax returns to tax authorities, and to ensure adequacy of tax compliance documentation for tax audit in view of self- assessment and reasonable care have been exercised - this covers preparation of detailed Tax analysis for accounts, finalisation of double deduction & tax incentive documentation for relevant companies (such as Halal incentive documentation), as well as the preparation and review of Transfer pricing documentation & positions taken for all Nestle entities in MY & SG.
  • Tax appeal and advisiory : Prepare tax position papers, appeals and defense of the company’s stand, and follow up with Inland Revenue/ Customs/ IRAS on all disputed tax matters. Provide tax advice for business transactions, manage tax issues and propose feasible resolutions to internal customers (e.g. on withholding taxes, direct and indirect tax compliance) and answering queries/ correspondence from Inland Revenue/ Customs/ IRAS etc.
  • Tax value creation and awareness : Assist Group tax manager and lead various tax projects or ad-hoc tax assignment. Manage Tax audits and requests with Tax Authorities/ Customs, and training of staff on tax awareness, manage transition of tax knowledge/ tax tasks to NBS/CoC and preparation of training/ guidance materials.
  • Manage Process Improvement: Manage the tax compliance and governance for enhancement towards greater tax compliance and efficiency.

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor degree in Finance/ Accounting or related field with at least 9 years’ experience.
  • At least 9 years of taxation work experience in a public accounting firm and/or FMCG industry.
  • Demonstrated success in handling tax appeals and/or audit settlements with IRB and/or customs.
  • Experience in delivering presentations for internal and external training purposes.
  • Proven ability to lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects.
  • Strong understanding of business principles acquired through working in an FMCG or professional accounting firm.
