Are you a Corporate Tax Manager looking for a quicker route to directorship, and an opportunity for high growth in a growing practice?

On offer is an opportunity to join an expanding accounting practice where there is a clear path to directorship, develop yourself, contribute to the growth of the business and support in growing the tax function across their clients. In the role, you will focus on corporate tax accounting, tax advisory and audit tax to a diverse portfolio of blue chip companies. You will oversee the engagements, manage the teams and learn from the partners to step into a Director position soon.

The ideal candidate will come from a smaller firm or a top 100 firm, be in Corporate Tax wanting a quicker path to Director than where they are and contribute to the development of the tax department.

Key Requirements
  • Minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Accounting.
  • An appropriate professional qualification – CPA / ACCA or equivalent is preferred.
  • At least 8 years’ tax experience in a related field, gained either from a top-tier firm of accountants or from within a multinational group.
  • Independent and creative thinking for tax planning, responsibility for a wide array of detailed compliance and financial reporting.
  • Excellent quantitative skills, proficiency with Excel.
  • Strong tax research, analytical and writing skills.

  • Review and timely submit tax returns and other declarations for entities of all jurisdictions where the Group operates. This includes Corporate Income Tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax, and other related filing such as Economic Substance Declaration.
  • Review transfer pricing documentation for filing and compliance purpose. This includes local file, master file, Country-by-Country Report and Notification.
  • Handle tax audit and investigation, tax dispute resolution with the objective to finalise the Group’s tax assessment up-to-date.
  • Prepare, analyse and monitor annual tax budget and quarterly ETR reporting to achieve optimization of Group’s effective tax rate.
  • Render tax advice and support to business units and support functions within the Group to meet strategic and operational tax objectives.
  • Participate in implementation of tax technology for global compliance purpose such as GLoBE Information Return under BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2.
  • Review and advise on commercial and legal contracts from tax perspective.
  • Evaluate and streamline activities, practices and transactions to ensure they comply with the relevant tax laws and regulations of the jurisdictions where the Group operates.
  • Liaise with tax consultants, government authorities and various stakeholders on tax compliance and advisory issues.
  • Render support on ad-hoc tax and related works such as M&A transactions, Advance Pricing Agreement, and other strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting or its equivalent.
  • At least 8 years or more working exposure or experience in a similar role.
  • Possess adequate skills and have extensive background in tax operations, preferably with a combination of in-house experience with a multinational enterprise and relevant Big 4 experience.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of corporate income taxes, indirect taxes and transfer pricing with familiarity with tax regimes and tax treaties in Asian region and UAE.
  • Strong business acumen, commercial outlook and risk awareness.
  • Hand-on approach with attention to details and flexibility.
  • Able to work under pressure and independently.

The Tax Manager role is a replacement position responsible for overseeing all tax-related matters in Malaysia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax Reporting

  • Execute and monitor external tax reporting for the dedicated CBUs in Malaysia, including regular tax filing and operation tasks, foreign payment tax application, tax preferential treatment application, etc.
  • Execute and monitor internal tax reporting, forecast and analysis, as well as tax provision for the dedicated CBUs in Malaysia.

Tax Planning and Projects

  • Provide day-to-day tax related advisory to the dedicated CBUs in Malaysia.
  • Support the tax planning projects and tax risks management.

Transfer Pricing (TP) Reporting and Planning

  • Manage routine TP documentation for the dedicated CBUs in Malaysia.
  • Support the TP review with Corporate based on the global schedule for the dedicated CBUs.
  • Support ad-hoc TP / benchmarking studies and topics for the dedicated CBUs in Malaysia.

Relationship with Authorities

  • Maintain relationship with tax authorities / related government bodies.
  • Manage inquiries and investigations for the dedicated CBUs in Malaysia.

Internal Control / Learning

  • Prepare and refresh tax position papers, SOPs for tax processes.
  • Follow the updated internal control procedures and ensure the tax governance in place
About You
  • Bachelor or above degree, preferably with finance, accounting, commercial and tax majors.
  • Possession of a CPA or an equivalent professional qualification is strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5-year experience in dedicated tax area
  • Big 4 experience is a must, commercial experience is a plus
  • SAP knowledge is a plus

  • Optimise tax strategy for business growth: Develop and implement effective tax strategies across multiple jurisdictions while ensuring compliance with local tax laws and regulations
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and devise risk mitigation strategies alongside Deriv’s global operations and continuous expansion
  • Stay up to date with international tax developments, including income tax, capital gains tax, withholding taxes, VAT/GST, and transfer pricing, and provide strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders
  • Assess the tax implications of emerging digital business models and leverage advancements in tax technology and data management
Drive compliance excellence and build audit defence capability
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax returns, including income tax, indirect taxes, withholding tax, and transfer pricing documentation
  • Review financial statements, tax provisions, and disclosures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax reporting requirements
  • Perform tax-related financial analysis, including effective tax rate calculations, deferred tax positions, and tax-related contingencies
  • Formulate and implement strategies towards the resolution of tax disputes, audits, and litigation in order to safeguard Deriv’s interests
Champion a high-performing culture and lead tax process transformation
  • Build, mentor, and empower a best-in-class tax team across multiple jurisdictions, fostering excellence in execution and strategic thinking
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration between tax, finance, and legal teams to drive business alignment and maximise efficiencies
  • Stay at the forefront of global tax trends, regulatory changes, and industry innovations, shaping thought leadership and best practices in tax strategy
  • Utilise AI and cutting-edge technology to enhance compliance processes, automate reporting, and accelerate tax research
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, with a CPA qualification
  • 10+ years of corporate tax and tax advisory experience, including at least 4 years in a managerial role, gained from consulting firm and MNC
  • Strong advisory and consultation skills in managing and resolving tax issues
  • Strong cross-border transactions and international tax knowledge and experience in corporate tax, indirect tax, withholding tax and transfer pricing issues
  • Extensive knowledge of tax laws and regulations across multiple geographies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex tax rules and apply to specific business situations
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and multitasking skills
  • High agility to work under tight deadlines with global teams
  • Detail-oriented, hands-on and resourceful
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication
  • Experience in finance automation and AI technologies is a plus
