Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will assist with tax preparation, compliance, and reporting for clients or the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to build a strong foundation in tax accounting while gaining hands-on experience in a professional setting.
What you will be responsible for:
- Assist in preparing corporate income tax returns and related documentation
- Support the preparation and filing of GST/VAT returns.
- Work closely with senior tax accountants and team members to ensure accurate records of tax liabilities and timely filings and submissions to tax authorities
- Maintain organized and accurate tax records.
- Assist in basic reconciliations related to tax reporting.
- Gather and organize documentation for audit purposes and supporting in responding to tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Research and stay updated on changes to local tax laws.
How you will stand out:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting or tax preparation
- Familiarity with basic tax concepts for corporate and indirect taxes.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.

We are looking to hire a Senior Tax Accountant to join our large oil and gas client on a one to two-year contract. This role is based in their KL Office and falls under the Finance and Accounting Section. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Inland Revenue regulations and other tax-related requirements, managing tax filings, and maintaining monthly tax movements.
Key Objectives:
- Ensure compliance with Inland Revenue regulations and other tax-related requirements.
- Maintain monthly tax movements, including current and deferred tax.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Compile information and prepare tax computations for yearly submission of Petroleum and Corporate Income Tax returns.
- Prepare tax true-up analysis after-tax return submission.
- Prepare 6th and 9th-month revisions to the Petroleum and Corporate Income Tax Instalment Plan.
- Ensure timely payment of monthly tax instalments.
- Prepare monthly current and deferred tax accruals for Petroleum tax provision and perform monthly reconciliation.
- Prepare returns for Indirect Taxes applicable to the business, such as Sales and Service Tax and Sarawak Sales Tax.
- Liaise with Tax Authorities on various tax audits and finalize audits within the stipulated timeframe.
- Conduct tax research and develop an understanding of tax implications from various tax rulings.
- Assist in other tax and accounting-related matters as required by the Finance Manager or Home Office.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Recognized degree in Accounting or professional qualification in accounting.
- Knowledge of tax computation preparation for the oil and gas industry.
- Familiarity with both Petroleum and Corporate Income Tax Acts.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and meet deadlines with accurate information.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in oil and gas.
- Proficient in oral and written communication in English.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of SAP accounting systems is an added advantage.
