To join our VHI Storage Team, we are looking for developers to contribute to architecture and delivery of high-availability systems.

Role & Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain system-level software components primarily in C.

Work in a Linux-based environment, including debugging, performance tuning, and automation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable and reliable systems.

Analyze and improve network-related functionality and performance.

Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with Linux development and internals.

Proficiency in C, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.

Solid understanding of system-level programming, including memory management, concurrency, and IPC.

Good knowledge of computer networks, including TCP/IP stack and socket programming.

Excellent fluency in English.

Nice to Have

Experience with Golang and/or Python.

Familiarity with designing and implementing distributed systems.

Knowledge of performance profiling and debugging tools.

Experience with Linux AIO, io-uring, RDMA stack in Linux.

Understanding of at least one of S3/NFS/Samba/iSCSI/NVMeOF protocols, Linux VFS internals, file systems architecture, Linux block I/O subsystem.

Responsibilities

Design and implement foundational collective communication operators (e.g., Send, Receive, Broadcast, Gather, Reduce, All Reduce, All Gather, etc.) tightly coupled with the NPU (Neural Processing Unit) hardware architecture.

Optimize communication primitives to exploit hardware features like specialized communication links, on-chip interconnects, and DMA engines, minimizing latency and maximizing bandwidth.

Analyze different communication modes (blocking/non-blocking, sync/async, reliable/unreliable) in the context of chip microarchitecture to enhance throughput and reduce stalls.

Research and integrate communication algorithms (e.g., Ring, Hierarchical Decomposition) tailored for NPU topology and workload patterns, ensuring scalability across many compute nodes.

Ensure software-hardware co-design compatibility, verifying correctness and performance across the chip’s instruction set, system software stack, and runtime environment.

Perform deep debugging and profiling using hardware-level tools and logs to rapidly identify bottlenecks or correctness issues and drive resolution.

Collaborate cross-functionally with chip architects, firmware engineers, and system software teams to deliver optimized communication solutions aligned with the overall AI accelerator roadmap.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Integrated Circuit Design, or related fields.

Proficient in C/C++ and Python programming with strong software engineering skills; experience with assembly or low-level programming for hardware optimization is highly valued.

Deep understanding of heterogeneous hardware platforms, especially NPU architecture including compute cores, on-chip memory hierarchies, and communication fabrics.

Solid grasp of collective communication principles and algorithms, including the implementation of efficient communication primitives on hardware accelerators.

Experience with performance profiling and debugging at hardware-software boundaries, able to use tools like logic analyzers, hardware performance counters, and trace logs.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.

Bonus skills include knowledge of GPU/TPU/DPU/NPU architectures, CUDA/ROCm programming, RDMA, communication libraries like NCCL, and distributed AI training frameworks.

Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical

As a Senior Project Manager for Canonical's Devices business, this role is responsible for the coordination and completion of large complex customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of project delivery and acting as the primary delivery liaison between Canonical's engineering teams and Canonical's customers.

You will be managing the projects that involve the delivery of Ubuntu images on a wide variety of devices ranging from robots, edge gateways, and IoT devices to PCs and automotive systems. This is a high-profile project management position where you are expected to build and maintain working relationships with team members, customers, other partners/vendors (Silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and other Canonical departments/teams.

The role entails

Managing projects through their complete life cycle and ensuring that the overall goals for both Canonical and the client are met Successfully delivering engineering professional services for assigned projects Working with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images to the customers Assisting in the development of project statements of work Drafting and maintaining project-specific schedules/project plans Obtaining client agreement to the project schedule and agreed-upon work items Ensuring projects are delivered within the time/resources/scope expectations Managing project risk mitigation and plans Driving technical issues to reach desired delivery outcomes Maintaining daily and weekly communication with the client and all internal stakeholders Managing delivery schedule of critical third-party deliverables for the project Keeping management informed of the status of assigned projects Identify custom engineering requests that are not part of an existing business contract Advocating for the appropriate technologies from Canonical's product portfolio to customers Supporting different time zones and work non-traditional hours as required to support the assigned projects

Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical

As a Senior Project Manager for Canonical's Devices business, this role is responsible for the coordination and completion of large complex customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of project delivery and acting as the primary delivery liaison between Canonical's engineering teams and Canonical's customers.

You will be managing the projects that involve the delivery of Ubuntu images on a wide variety of devices ranging from robots, edge gateways, and IoT devices to PCs and automotive systems. This is a high-profile project management position where you are expected to build and maintain working relationships with team members, customers, other partners/vendors (Silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and other Canonical departments/teams.

Location:

This role will be based remotely in the APAC region

The role entails

Managing projects through their complete life cycle and ensuring that the overall goals for both Canonical and the client are met Successfully delivering engineering professional services for assigned projects Working with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images to the customers Assisting in the development of project statements of work Drafting and maintaining project-specific schedules/project plans Obtaining client agreement to the project schedule and agreed-upon work items Ensuring projects are delivered within the time/resources/scope expectations Managing project risk mitigation and plans Driving technical issues to reach desired delivery outcomes Maintaining daily and weekly communication with the client and all internal stakeholders Managing delivery schedule of critical third-party deliverables for the project Keeping management informed of the status of assigned projects Identify custom engineering requests that are not part of an existing business contract Advocating for the appropriate technologies from Canonical's product portfolio to customers Supporting different time zones and work non-traditional hours as required to support the assigned projects

What we are looking for in you

Solid project management experience in delivering engineering services to customers managing software development teams and field engineers Extensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources, preferably with resources in Asia, Europe, and the Americas Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math Good knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community, and understanding of computer architecture Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, in English Strong leader and problem solver with extensive experience building successful internal and external partnerships and effective working relationships with demanding project sponsors in complex organizational environments PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred Ability to work non-standard work hours in support of a worldwide sales and project team Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events

We are hiring a

Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical

As a Senior Project Manager for Canonical's Devices business, this role is responsible for the coordination and completion of large complex customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of project delivery and acting as the primary delivery liaison between Canonical's engineering teams and Canonical's customers.

You will be managing the projects that involve the delivery of Ubuntu images on a wide variety of devices ranging from robots, edge gateways, and IoT devices to PCs and automotive systems. This is a high-profile project management position where you are expected to build and maintain working relationships with team members, customers, other partners/vendors (Silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and other Canonical departments/teams.

The role entails

Managing projects through their complete life cycle and ensuring that the overall goals for both Canonical and the client are met Successfully delivering engineering professional services for assigned projects Working with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images to the customers Assisting in the development of project statements of work Drafting and maintaining project-specific schedules/project plans Obtaining client agreement to the project schedule and agreed-upon work items Ensuring projects are delivered within the time/resources/scope expectations Managing project risk mitigation and plans Driving technical issues to reach desired delivery outcomes Maintaining daily and weekly communication with the client and all internal stakeholders Managing delivery schedule of critical third-party deliverables for the project Keeping management informed of the status of assigned projects Identify custom engineering requests that are not part of an existing business contract Advocating for the appropriate technologies from Canonical's product portfolio to customers Supporting different time zones and work non-traditional hours as required to support the assigned projects

What we are looking for in you

Solid project management experience in delivering engineering services to customers managing software development teams and field engineers Extensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources, preferably with resources in Asia, Europe, and the Americas Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math Good knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community, and understanding of computer architecture Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, in English Strong leader and problem solver with extensive experience building successful internal and external partnerships and effective working relationships with demanding project sponsors in complex organizational environments PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred Ability to work non-standard work hours in support of a worldwide sales and project team Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
