Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in infrastructure operations, with at least 2 years in a Level 2 support role.
  • Proficiency in virtualization technologies and cloud-based or on-premise virtual machines.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and/or Windows systems administration.
  • Proficient in using monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or any renowned alerting platforms
  • Experience with logging and incident response systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Freshworks).
  • Practical knowledge of backup and disaster recovery (DR) processes and technologies.

EPF Malaysia The System Administrator for iSeries is responsible for the system administration and technical support of the iSeries (IBM i) infrastructure, including the implementation, enhancement, maintenance, and administration of IT applications and systems supporting the Provident Fund System (PFS) Back End and its components. This role requires close collaboration with system users, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, effective system performance, and reliable operations within the iSeries environment. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES System Implementation and Enhancements Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for EPF’s iSeries-based PFS Back End Systems and technical domains. Analyze existing iSeries application and infrastructure requirements to plan for functional and technical enhancements. Lead, manage, and participate in the end-to-end execution of iSeries-related projects and change requests. Develop and maintain system documentation specific to iSeries, including Technical Operation Manuals, Guidelines, ‘Arahan Kerja’, and performance reports. System Maintenance and Administration Administer, monitor, and optimize the iSeries (IBM i) platform, including system configuration, work management, job scheduling, storage management, replication & journaling, and security controls within the EPF network. Coordinate system maintenance tasks including software upgrades, backup configuration, and performance tuning. Ensure all iSeries systems are current and compliant with software/security patching, technology refresh, vulnerability remediation, and operational bug fixes. Technical Support and Incident Response Diagnose and resolve iSeries-related incidents, job errors, system alerts, and performance issues in a timely manner. Provide continuous system support and incident response, applying structured problem-solving and change management processes. Involved in IBM i OS upgrades and infrastructure upgrade projects, including planning, execution, and post-migration support Coordinate deployment activities and configuration changes related to iSeries platform upgrades and software rollouts. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Maintain and ensure readiness of the iSeries disaster recovery (DR) environment, including high availability, backup verification, and DR documentation. Participate in all phases of disaster recovery testing and simulation activities, including planning, preparation, execution, and post-evaluation reviews. Technical Support Assistance and Ad-Hoc Tasks Support the integration of iSeries systems with other applications or enterprise platforms. Collaborate with internal and external teams in support of Application Infra Support Unit responsibilities. Prepare and deliver technical documentation, incident reports, presentation slides, or other deliverables for iSeries environments when needed. JOB REQUIREMENTS Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IBM i operating system, including job control, CL scripting, SQL, BRMS, system security, and storage management, as well as experience supporting SAP infrastructure and integration. Good understanding of integration with Windows, Linux, virtualization platforms, or open-source tools is beneficial. Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure components such as firewalls, security appliances, backups, storage systems, and cloud-based storage. Excellent communication skills in both English and Bahasa Melayu Exposure in handling tender documentation, contract renewals, and procurement-related paperwork is an added advantage. Qualifications: Obtain a pass in Bahasa Melayu, including an oral test in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government. Bachelor’s degree (Honors) or master’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent which is recognized by the Government from any local or abroad higher learning institution with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
