- Manage business development and expansion of Green, Social & Sustainable Impact Product & Services (GSSIPS), working closely with relevant Business Units to maximise our positive impacts, to help achieve the Group’s Net Zero 2050 ambition.
- Work with business units to identify areas of opportunities (e.g. in climate finance, power/renewables, transportation, energy/resources industry, social, financial inclusion, etc.) and develop strategies and plans to position CIMB to strategically tap into and capture these opportunities as and when they arise.
- Work closely with business units to grow the GSSIPS portfolio, via development of sustainability-related products, services and propositions (e.g. green/social/sustainabe loans/bonds/sukuk, project finance, green deposits, derivatives, treasury products, wealth management, retail products etc.).
- Play the role of a Sustainability specialist to develop and deliver client pitches, negotiate with clients on sustainability success metrics (e.g. for Sustainabiltiy-Linked instruments), develop standard operating procedures and documentation for products, procure external technical consultants, where necessary.
- Manage and support sustainable finance innovation across the Group, identifying and capitalising on opportunities to grow the GSSIPS portfolio (e.g. via blended finance, tapping on available technical assistance facilities).
- Serve as an expert on sustainability-related regulations, standards and practices, and keep key stakeholders across the Group abreast of material developments influencing sustainable finance.
- Upskill Relationship Managers, product owners and risk teams on Sustainability concepts, issues and opportunities, and embed a culture of sustainability and mindset of Sustainable Finance across all Business Units regionally.
- Custodian of CIMB’s Sustainability Bond and Sukuk Framework and sustainability-elements of CIMB’s own sustainable/ sustainability-linked instruments (e.g. CIMB SDG Bond, Sustainability-Linked Derivative).
- Support Head of Sustainable Finance Business Development, who may represent the Group at roundtables, external speaking engagements, and industry groups such as UNEP FI, Association of Banks in Malaysia, and Joint Committee on Climate Change.
Job Requirements:
- Degree from a recognised University. A degree or certification in Sustainability or Sustainable Finance would be advantageous.
- At least 6-10 years of experience in Banking, preferably with 3 years of experience in a Sustainability role. Experience in banking is a key requirement, preferably in Wholesale Banking, with experience across a broad spectrum of products.
- Working knowledge and experience of Banking products and services, in both business and retail segments
- Technical knowledge of, or very strong passion in, sustainable finance products that are currently in the market
- Experience in collaborating with multiple teams and business units
- Able to effectively manage projects, and juggle multiple urgent priorities
- Strong internal and external networking skills

Overview
The CSM is responsible for driving and monitoring the companys policies and practices with the intent to minimise the organisations environmental imprint without compromising the economic well-being of the company. The CSM will provide integrated support to all services in understanding sustainability obligations, planning and implementing initiatives, monitoring and reporting results. The CSM will also serve as the in-house expert educating and guiding relevant stakeholders in making informed decisions regarding the improvement needed to maintain the health of the environment and systemic growth of the company.
Key Functional Areas
- To lead the formulation of policies and strategies relating to sustainability within the group
- To set annual ESG goals for the group in consultation with key stakeholders
- To educate, review, and report on progress in relation to the sustainability initiatives
Job Description
- Implementing changes in corporate strategy to make the work environment and practices more eco-friendly; communicating these changes to all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborating with various departments to incorporate sustainable practices and set goals related to reducing their environmental impact.
- Develop a carbon offset programme in line with the sustainability framework of the Group
- Analyse and audit the companys activities in line with our stated sustainability pillars, and making recommendations to revise them.
- Monitoring and evaluating the companys purchasing, manufacturing, shipping, supply chain, waste management and other similar processes as they relate to sustainability and ensuring compliance with stated ESG goals.
- Identifying all areas where the company can lessen its environmental impact and making recommendations relating to them.
- Writing reports that detail the results and evaluations of research; presenting that information to management with recommendations for research-based modifications
- Setting guidelines that govern the interplay between the organisation and the surrounding environment.
- Leading training sessions and workshops on sustainability practices and policies to educate and influence employees
- Identify relevant certifications or endorsements for the companys sustainability initiatives.
Required Skills
- Relevant experience in the area of driving sustainability programmes for a diverse and global organization is critical
- Knowledgeable about ESG trends in different sectors
- Professional membership in a relevant organization is an advantage

Have working knowledge of international sustainability standards and best practices (like ISSB, GRI Standards, UNGC, SDGs, UNGPs, SASB, TCFD, IIRC, etc.)
Have experience writing and/or coordinating Sustainability reporting.
Experience in developing and implementing programmes in Sustainability & responsible business areas.
Sound understanding of corporate sustainability across various industry sectors.
Collaborated with multiple nonprofit organisations and social enterprises in Sustainability and ESG areas.
High proficiency in using spreadsheets and slides.
Able to analyse data and provide recommendations or interventions.
Plus: Proficiency with data analysis and visualisation tools.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the corporate ESG team to leverage corporate programs and sustainability reporting
- Drive emissions reduction activities in the Transceiver BU as much as 10 years faster than the company program (Net Zero 2030 for transceivers, versus Net Zero 2040 for Coherent Corp.) and also complete custom emissions reports for major transceiver customers
- Be the Business Unit point of contact for discussions with Transceiver customers on sustainability topics.
- Coordinate with facilities to develop and execute plans to phase out all fossil fuel usage at Transceiver sites
- Coordinate with engineering to reduce or eliminate the use of other greenhouse gas chemicals such as SF6, or mitigate their corresponding emissions
- Drive energy efficiency programs in Transceiver facilities
- Support renewable electricity procurement activities with usage projections for Transceiver sites
- Coordinate with Procurement to drive Net Zero requirements into the supply chain for all Transceiver suppliers and parts, including both
- External suppliers
- Coordinate with other Coherent business units to drive requirements for necessary decarbonization of internally supplied parts
- Support detailed reporting of supply chain emissions data collection
- Determine strategy for Product Carbon Footprint analysis and corresponding execution.
- Become the subject matter expert on sustainability topics within Transceiver business unit. Understand customer requirements, terminology, current state, and best practices in this area. Effectively translate customer requirements into plans for execution.
- Lead transceiver business unit activities on other ESG topics beyond emissions, including Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) compliance, waste reduction, water reduction, conflict minerals, etc.
- Coordinate with corporate sustainability / EHS / quality teams to implement ISO 14k / 45k in factory locations
Education & Experience
- Master/PhD in materials science/physics/other relevant field or equivalent experience
- Education/experience managing environment, sustainability, and social governance
- Capable of managing multiple projects
- Strong spoken and written communication skills (also fluent in English)
- Experience communicating with external customers preferred
Skills & Other Requirements
- Ability to translate complex sustainability concepts into actionable strategies and measurable targets.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives across different geographies.
- Experience in developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sustainability.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive evidence-based decisions.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and their environmental and social impacts, particularly within electronics or similar industries.
- Experience working with international teams and managing programs across different cultural contexts (especially in Asia).
