The Corporate Strategy team assists the CEO with developing the company's long term objectives and setting its course. By assessing a broad range of trends and issues that span across markets, customer, competitor, regulatory and technology insights, the team develops winning strategies that will have a significant impact on the company's growth.

Get to Know the Role

  • Scanning the business environment for insights and trends to identify key growth opportunities for the company that will build sustainable competitive advantages.
  • Translating company-level strategies into actionable functional deliverables and re-allocating business portfolio to align with market opportunities.
  • Driving decision-making and ensure major initiatives are coherent with company strategic direction.
  • Sustaining the momentum of strategy execution and instilling organisation discipline to realise commitments to strategic plans.

This headcount will report to Director, Corporate Strategy, based onsite at our One North Office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Develop and update company strategies, prioritizing major cross-functional initiatives by analyzing internal performance and external market trends.
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO and management team on key issues, such as strategic initiatives, business unit plans, and investments, using rigorous analysis and systems-level thinking.
  • Bridge business opportunities with product development by understanding business imperatives and the possibilities or limitations of technology.
  • Lead experimental business development initiatives, defining success parameters, establishing baseline capabilities, and smoothly transitioning them to operational execution.
  • Align organizational structure to strategic objectives by identifying and strengthening required internal capabilities and processes.
  • Execute corporate planning and track functional deliverables, organizing updates and action items during management meetings and company-wide off-sites to align with objectives.
  • Assess major proposals for initiatives and investments to ensure alignment with strategic direction, sustainable growth, efficient resource allocation, and business coherence across functions.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • A degree with good honours from a top tier university in any discipline, MBA an added advantage
  • At least 2+ years of experience
  • Experience with quantitative analysis e.g. financial modelling and data manipulation
  • Ability to construct and deliver clear presentations to senior company executives
  • Ability to look beyond individual issues to identify broader themes with wider-reaching impact
  • Experience in analysing and quantifying complex strategic issues tied to long term business growth
  • Creativity and comfortable with 'blank sheet of paper' assignments

  • Preferable tertiary qualification in Statistics or any related field.

  • The Mobility Strategy team works with senior business and product leaders to define where to play and how to win for the mobility business. We set strategic direction for cross-functional teams throughout business and tech and navigate complex problem statements to grow the Mobility business

  • You will work with senior leaders to set strategic direction for cross-functional teams throughout the business and tech divisions and navigate complex problem statements to grow the Mobility business in the Grab region.
  • You will report to the Senior Manager, Mobility Strategy and based onsite in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • You will quickly grasp new and complex concepts, triangulate multiple data points, and form recommendations to solve high-priority problem statements.
  • You will assess trade-offs in decisions by evaluating effort vs Return On Investment (ROI) to steer the team towards the right course of action, even if it means pivoting from initial plans.
  • You will develop solutions on the anticipated risks and weaknesses.
  • You will lead clarity in teams involving product, design, analytics, and engineering.
  • You will manage end-to-end special projects from brainstorming to execution.
  • You will build an understanding of new areas for growth and the competitive landscape to identify future growth engines.

About the role

The Senior Strategy Manager is a pivotal role in helping SEEK define and deliver its long-term vision, strategy and growth ambitions.

As a Senior Strategy Manager, you will be working on critical topics in either Product / Marketplace Strategy or Commercial Strategy, partnering closely with the senior leaders in those functions.

Day-to-day this role entails:

  • Leading a significant part of a specific Strategy Centre of Gravity – becoming the ‘go-to’ person on a range of related topics for senior leadership and the broader organisation
  • Developing and applying analytical frameworks and principles to investigate business issues, identify solutions and manage the implementation of agreed actions
  • Creating situational awareness within the team and broader organisation – strategic metrics, key results, industry trends, competitor analysis
  • Communicating defined strategies and its components with simplicity and impact to all levels of the organisation, including senior leadership
  • Leading project delivery and process management, effectively managing and mitigating risks
  • Collaborating in project teams alongside Product, AI and Commercial stakeholders to design, test and iterate future product or commercial solutions
  • Being a vocal advocate for the strategy and providing guidance to execution teams to ensure alignment with the strategy
  • Potentially having 1-2 task reports on projects

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • 5-8 years’ experience working in strategy-related roles, with 3-4 years in a top tier strategy consulting firm.
  • Highly developed conceptual reasoning capabilities, analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to break down and frame strategic problems
  • Experience in developing business level strategy and breaking this down into objectives, targets and initiatives
  • Passion for growth strategy and excellent business acumen, and a track record of having worked and led complex and ambiguous strategic projects
  • Track record of results – delivering results through cross functional teams
  • Ability to influence and build support for fact-based recommendations with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • A high learning orientation and a desire to become a global expert in online marketplace design and operations
  • Experience in media, internet or tech industries would be viewed favourably

What Qualifications and Experience Will You Bring to Excel in This Role?

  • Strategy experience in management consulting firm; or in-house strategy experience in a reputable company; or product management experience in a reputable company
  • Strong implementation experience is a must
  • Strong analytical, critical reasoning, business sense and problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaborative skill with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong upward management skill – able to convey, convince and coach management on proposed initiatives
