- Design, deploy, and manage databases on AWS using RDS and on-premises SQL Server, automating management tasks with AWS tools and scripting.
- Ensure database security, backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and replication strategies are implemented, maintained, and regularly tested, while performing regular audits to ensure compliance with data governance policies.
- Monitor database performance, implement tuning strategies, and optimize queries by reviewing service-related reports (e.g., database backup, maintenance, monitoring) daily to identify and resolve issues within the Company’s SLAs.
- Track, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related incidents, requests, alerts, and escalations within the Company's SLAs, collaborating with the database engineering team to develop strategic solutions to recurring issues.
- Maintain documentation related to database architecture, configurations, and procedures.
- Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7 years of hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, and high availability/disaster recovery solutions.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving database problems, with proficiency in performance tuning and optimization (PTO) — including expertise in indexes, index management, and statistics — using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Skilled in backups, restores, and recovery models, including on-premises and cloud backup strategies, with expertise in High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
- Well-versed in AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, AWS Backup, Lambda) and proficiency in MSSQL Server, AWS RDS, DynamoDB, and PostgreSQL, with expertise in managing SQL Server in both on-premises and AWS environments, including familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.

- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing to ensure robust delivery.
- Provide 2nd-level production support and incident management in close collaboration with analysts and external vendors.
- Support IT risk assessments, infrastructure initiatives, and disaster recovery activities.
- Participate in product launches, projects, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Review and enforce adherence to application design best practices and regulatory security guidelines.
- Key Stakeholders: Business Users, Business Analysts, System Analysts, Solution Architects, Technical Vendors, Project Managers.
Essential Technical Skills:
- Minimum 5–6 years of relevant working experience.
- Strong proficiency in SQL programming and relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL).
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Visual Studio, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Proficiency in Java programming with experience in frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, Struts, or Maven.
- Familiarity with modern development and CI/CD tools: Azure, Veracode, Git, JFrog, Eclipse, AppDynamics.
- Experience in application deployment and configuration (including IBM InfoSphere).
- Knowledge of web technologies (batch scripts, APIs, JavaScript, web services).
- Experience with both Agile and Waterfall SDLC methodologies.
- Proven ability in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving application issues.
- Knowledge of the Life Insurance domain is an advantage.
