We are seeking an experienced Engineering Leader specializing in solar project development and technical advisory services to serve as a Regional Subject Matter Expert (SME). The role involves overseeing client projects across the entire lifecycle-from development to operational optimization-and includes the opportunity to build and lead a team of experts as the company expands.
Key Requirements:
+ 10+ years in renewable energy, with a focus on solar energy
+ Expertise in energy yield analysis, performance benchmarking, and feasibility assessments
+ Strong technical leadership and client-facing skills to drive project decisions
This role offers the chance to join a global advisory team and grow with the company's expansion in the region.
+ Act as the Regional SME, ensuring technical excellence within the team and across all projects.
+ Support clients during all phases of a project, including pre-investment, development, construction, and operations.
+ Provide expert review and sign-off on Energy Yield Assessments (EYAs) and long-term energy forecasts.
+ Lead internal training programs and mentor junior engineers to improve team capabilities.
+ Work closely with commercial, legal, and project management teams to create client proposals and define project scopes.
+ Represent the organization at industry events, client meetings, and technical panels.
+ Innovate by developing new methods and tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our technical assessments.
+ Conduct peer reviews of deliverables to maintain consistency and technical quality.
+ Write technical whitepapers and industry articles to strengthen the company's brand and expertise.
+ Travel moderately (20-25%) for site visits and client meetings across the APAC region or globally.
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
+ At least 10 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with a focus on solar technical advisory, consulting, or project development.
+ Proficiency in solar modeling and analysis software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope. PVCase) is highly preferred.
+ Strong understanding of SCADA data analysis and operational performance assessments.
+ Proven experience in client engagement, writing technical reports, and leading complex advisory projects.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to clients.

- Language Proficiency:Proficient in spoken and written English; conversational proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia.

Electrical Primary Design Engineer - (Renewable Energy-Solar PV)
Design, develop, and implement medium and high voltage electrical systems for various applications, such as power grids or power plants. Review and create detailed high and medium voltage substation and switchyard primary design and other technical documentation. Perform calculations substation earthing, insulation coordination, equipment steel structure, conductor and cable calculations. Prepare cable list and core termination diagram. Select and specify appropriate substation equipment, including power transformers, circuit breaker, disconnector switches, switchgears, neutral earthing resistor, cables, cable joints connectors and accessories. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations when working with high voltage equipment. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to minimize hazards. Stay updated on the latest industry standards and regulations. Project Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively. Provide technical guidance and support to team members. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Strong understanding of high voltage electrical principles, circuit theory, and power systems. Experience with AUTOCAD software or switchyard primary design CAD software . Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as IEC, IEEE, and UL. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in specific applications, such as power grids, power plants and substations. knowledge in specific medium and high voltage substation switchyard design, products and substation ancillary equipment. Experience with field testing and commissioning of medium and high voltage systems. Certification in high voltage safety practices. - Assist in designing, testing, and optimizing renewable energy systems.

- Analyze system performance data to enhance reliability and efficiency .
- Engage with local communities to provide training and technical support , ensuring long-term sustainability.
What We’re Looking For
- Someone who wants to specialize in off-grid energy solutions and is motivated to contribute directly to rural electrification in Malaysia
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field .
- Basic knowledge of solar PV systems, microgrids, and energy storage .

- Comfortable with fieldwork in rural areas and hands-on problem-solving.

Job Description
As part of the Energy Solutions team, you will ensure the project engineering activities of C&I projects in Malaysia including system design drawing preparation, process engineering improvement and implementation.
JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITES- Perform pre-engineering designs for solar projects based on industry standards and client requirements.
- Review, comment and/or revise client exhibit documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Design solar projects and oversee layout drafting in AutoCAD, perform energy modelling using PVsyst and finalize preliminary design packages for bid submission.
- Work with the project management team and engineering team to finalize designs for submission to clients.
- Work with clients to respond to their questions and explain design options.
- Develop the work methodology and schedule.
- Perform site survey to capture structural information of roof, building, electrical etc.
- Prepare and submit applications for NEM, ITA, public/private electricity generation license.
- Liaise with SEDA, Suruhanjaya Tenaga and TNB for solar related matters.
- Support sales and marketing team on technical presentation.
- Communicate with suppliers to improve costing and product offering.
- Degree in electrical/power engineering, a Master will be an advantage.
- Have relevant practical experience on project engineer in PV system & plant construction projects or other industrial type construction projects.
- Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, PVcase and PVSyst.
