ROLE SUMMARY

The Social Manager will be responsible for a group of key brands for VMLY&R Malaysia, working with a team of managers and executives to lead strategy in campaign planning and always on for social.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead in content strategic planning across social platforms on a monthly basis to provide direction for a few FMCG brand's online presence.
  • Collaborate with the creative & account teams to create and deliver best-in-class social media and content-driven campaigns for our clients.
  • A thinker and doer on anything social content-related work, be it in consumer conversations and interactions to share with our clients, ensuring that content calendars are engaging, on brand and strategically aligned.
  • Liaise & manage clients to get approval of campaigns and content, understanding their changing needs and adapting our approach to social media management for them accordingly.
  • Work on monthly social reports to capture post performances, provide better solutions on communication angles, engagement rates, and the likes.
  • Deep-dive into social media analytics to understand why certain content performs better than the rest and providing actionable insights for our clients backed by social data.
  • Stay on top of industry changes to ensure our clients are always ahead of the curve on digital and social.
  • Spearhead the process of social advertising and content promotion across social media platforms, optimizing for the client's objectives.
  • Be a champion of the VMLY&R's culture - honest, open, responsive, team-oriented.
SKILLS AND EXPERTISE

  • At least 5 Years' experience in leading social strategy and campaign.
  • Proficient in all mainstream Social Media Channels (ie. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest, etc.) and user dynamics on these Channels based on audience segmentation.
  • Deep understanding of the evolving social media landscape and ongoing desire to stay on top of emerging and changing platforms.
  • Keen awareness of current events and trending topics, ability to quickly incorporate trends into social media strategy.
  • Able to speak and write fluently in English.
  • Additional experience in account management is a plus.
  • Creative flair and strong sense of what engages consumers in terms of copy, design and
    formats.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing of The Datai Langkawi, and with a dotted line to the Director of Marketing Consultant of Datai Hotels and Resorts, the Visual Storyteller will elevate the sustainability initiatives of The Datai Pledge through impactful, solutions-led storytelling. This position will work on a wide range of communications that are designed to engage and inspire international audiences, showcasing the meaningful impact of The Datai Pledge through creating evocative cutting-edge content.

In its first year, this role will be mentored by leading international sustainability editor Juliet Kinsman. It offers an exciting opportunity to sharpen skills in short-form, and be a master of generating scroll-worthy storytelling while staying at the forefront of the latest social media trends. The role will action editorial rigour and help The Datai Pledge hone a new voice in sustainability and luxury travel communication.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & PERFORMANCE

Content Creation and Storytelling

  • The candidate will be guided and supported to be able to lead the creation of purpose-driven content that is aligned with The Datai Pledge's vision, for social media channels, website, newsletters, reports, and more, as well as print publications such as brochures, books and more, with a focus on elevating visual storytelling.
  • Support local empowerment initiatives by working with local artists to merge art and nature, telling impactful stories creatively under The Datai Pledge.
  • Produce and edit high-quality content (including write-ups, photography and videography) in a way that informs and entertains ('edutaining'), showcasing the impact of The Datai Pledge.
  • Develop deeper, documentary-style content, in the form of long-term, high-quality storytelling that caters to different audiences and requires time and effort for meaningful impact.

Digital Content Management

REQUIRED SKILLS

The ideal candidate will be a rare mix of creativity, digital savvy, with enthusiasm for sustainability and conservation, and strong organizational skills as well as a passion for storytelling in the English language.

  1. Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or other media field, with 2-5 years' experience in hospitality or sustainability-based organizations.
  2. Ability to distil complex sustainability concepts into accessible, engaging narratives.
  3. Proven track record in creating high-quality social media content which shows candidate's ability to tell impactful stories through words and images.
  4. Experience in producing short-form videos optimized for social media.

This role requires someone skilled in planning, research, executing and reporting on social media campaigns with the flexibility to participate in shoots. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of social media advertising and the ability to craft engaging content while working closely with the client and our team.

The primary working location is in Kuala Lumpur, although may require occasional travel to Putrajaya.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content & Calendar Management:

  • Market and data research.
  • Develop and maintain a social media content calendar.
  • Strategise, plan and execute campaigns aligned with client goals.
  • Create and curate engaging, on-brand content for various platforms.

On-Ground Shoots & Engagement:

  • Coordinate and manage photoshoots, videoshoots and live sessions.

Social Media Advertising:

  • Plan, execute and optimise paid ad campaigns across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Monitor performance metrics and adjust strategies for best results.

Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed monthly and campaign-specific reports with performance insights.
  • Provide actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.

Client Collaboration:

  • Communicate regularly with the client to align expectations and gather feedback.
  • Flexibility to attend meetings in the Kuala Lumpur office with the rest of the team as needed.

Trend Monitoring & Strategy:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends and tools.
  • Propose creative ideas to enhance the client's online presence.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Possesses a bachelor's degree
  • Has experience in social media management, content creation and digital marketing
  • Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Malay and English (Mandarin is a bonus)
  • Is a team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

The Community Management team are a key part of the Ogilvy social team and help to make brands truly matter on social channels. We are the eyes, ears, and voice for global giants - creative, hungry digital natives who live in the feed and cut through the chaos of social. In this role, you'll be helping manage online communities, creating content and engaging with the audience directly on various social media platforms. You'll contribute ideas for social media strategies and stay up-to-date on trends to create relevant content – maybe even shooting it yourself. You'll also work with other teams to deliver comprehensive social media campaigns for clients. Key Responsibilities:

Be the strategic social sleuth & brand architect: Craft the strategic social blueprint from online and social community insights. Stay plugged into the zeitgeist by devouring trend reports and campaign insights to keep social fresh. Breathe social channels such as Facebook, Insta, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok & beyond.Support building social and creative briefs and coordinate with interdisciplinary team to prepare well informed community management strategies around cultural moments.

Be a social management tool expert: Expertly create and publish engaging content across all key social platforms. Command the insight toolkit (Sprinklr, Google Trends, etc.) to turn data into action. Manage and own the content publishing process; scheduling, coordination of complex content calendars, QC of live posts. Champion social media best practices, ensuring every execution is flawless. Nail the administrative essentials: reports, scheduling, competitor reviews, and workflow management.

Be the voice of the brand on social : Forge powerful internal & client relationships and get to the heart of client challenges and ensure seamless execution. Master the brand's voice, crafting compelling content that resonates with their online audience. Transform audiences into passionate social advocates and craft perfect reactive and proactive comments.

Measurement and effectiveness: What's working and why? Understand different social media performance and metrics. Deliver social reports with precisely the insights clients need to drive smart business decisions. Be a data detective and uncover the stories hidden in social metrics and turn them into strategic gold. Grasp client objectives and the competitive arena to ensure social delivers real results. Collaborate with analysts and media planners to report on channel results – community specific data. Understand the benefits of a test & learn strategy can create testing hypothesis.

Be the gate keeper of brand safety: Cut through the chaos of social media and moderate complex comments in a very public forum. Live in the detail - one emoji can be the difference between the best comment you've ever read to a full blown crisis. Understand what flies on social for brands, what is over the mark and how to deal with it.

BONUS: Bringing impactful ideas to life through content creation: Develop, produce, and distribute engaging, impactful content across various platforms (including social media posts and videos). Knowledge of latest viral and aesthetic trends on social is essential. This includes concepting and shooting quick-turnaround, phone-shot content that aligns with the brand's aesthetic and messaging. Proficiency in mobile content creation and editing software is essential.

Requirements:

  • Experience managing social media accounts and building online communities.

  • Experience creating, scheduling, publishing content to social channels and highly proficient using software like Sprinklr, Meta and TikTok Ads Manager Tools.

  • Experience concepting, filming and posting content to social media platforms is a bonus.

  • Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills. Organized, analytical and excellent time management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to take on new challenges and learn, constantly pushing the creative work to be best in class for social.

  • Natural and effective collaborator, working effectively and seamlessly amongst an integrated agency team and comfortable and confident liaising directly with clients.
