Get to Know the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Information Technology Engineer (Software) to design, develop, and implement software solutions that drive our organization’s digital transformation initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of systems architecture, data processing workflows, and software development best practices.

• Develops software add-on/solution by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage and work processes and investigating problem areas.
• Analyze operation requirements and build/test the required ingestion and transformation platform.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the art development tools, programming techniques and computing equipment
• Lead and execute projects based on corporate digital transformation strategies.
• Work independently or in team collaboration in sharing and generating insights based on data mining, visual/descriptive analytics, machine learning, using any suitable statistical/numerical techniques. Prepares and installs solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts and soft coding.
• Clarify problem statements, understand business process, verify data availability and establish contextual understanding of data.

Skills and Competencies Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C#, Visual Basic, .Net.
• Proficiency in MS Power Platform (Power BI/Power Apps/Power Automate/Power Pages) for automation and app development
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience with web or software development tools, frameworks, or environments.
• Knowledge of database systems (Oracle, SQL or NoSQL) is an advantage.
• Develops software add-on/solution by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage and work processes and investigating problem areas
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn and grow.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Exposure to Agile development practices is a plus.

Troubleshoot OT-related technical issues to maintain uptime and reliability.

Participate in validation and documentation of system changes to meet compliance and regulatory standards.

Contribute to quality and efficiency improvements through digitization and process automation projects.

Apply engineering principles to troubleshoot and optimize integrated IT/OT systems.

Collaborate with Manufacturing, IT, Quality, and Product teams on secure, scalable technology solutions.

As an Enterprise Technology Engineer - Sustainability, we provide technology expertise and deliver enterprise scale solutions across our business. We bring deep technical specialism in the technologies and platforms which are the center of our Digital business, and delivery expertise in the integration and operation of technologies from the global technology market.

The team works both at the core of bp, and within our businesses to unlock value from technology. We develop, configure and operate our solutions to global scale to meet evolving needs of the Energy Transition.

What you will deliver

• Lead all aspects of the day-to-day operations, performance, and lifecycle of the application.

• Ensure stability, availability, and scalability of the platform to meet the business needs.

• Supports the Team, Business Stakeholders and Product Managers to validate business requirements then to drive common process and functional solutions globally.

• Supports the Business Stakeholders in developing value case for capital funding requests.

• Collaborate with internal team members (e.g., Sustainability, Finance, Digital Security, Branding) to capture, clarify, and translate the requirements into actionable technical solutions.

• Act as the central liaison between the business, delivery partners, and vendors.

• Handle vendor performance, coordinate change requests, and ensure timely delivery of services.

• Participate in procurement processes, including RFPs and contract reviews where needed.

• Ensure the application meets regulatory and bp compliance standards, particularly for carbon reporting.

• Identify and mitigate operational risks, including transition risks during vendor changes.

• Support reporting and insights generation to aid decision-making and compliance needs.

• Support organizational change activities related to the application rollout, user onboarding, and communications.

• Provide and supporting the user training, documentation, and partner updates.

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

• 5+ years of experience in digital product/application management, preferably in sustainability, compliance, or data-driven platforms.

• Demonstrated success collaborating with multi-functional teams and third-party vendors to deliver impactful outcomes.

• Well-versed in agile delivery methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks.

• Knowledge of Regulatory Carbon Reporting Requirement such as GHG Protocol, EU EST, or other sustainability frameworks - sustainability reporting, or ESG-related systems is a strong advantage.

• Proficient in cloud-based platforms and web technologies (e.g., React, APIs) is highly desirable.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage optimally with diverse internal and external partners.

• Adept at translating business needs into clear technical requirements—and vice versa.

• Capable of managing multiple priorities, timelines, and risks with structure, clarity, and transparency.

• Experienced in governance frameworks, including compliance and regulatory standards.

We develop, configure and operate our solutions to global scale to meet evolving needs of the Energy Transition. We partner with Digital technology and the skills they bring to our product teams. What you will deliver Lead all aspects of the day-to-day operations, performance, and lifecycle of the application.

Ensure stability, availability, and scalability of the platform to meet the business needs.

Supports the Team, Business Stakeholders and Product Managers to validate business requirements then to drive common process and functional solutions globally.

Supports the Business Stakeholders in developing value case for capital funding requests.

Collaborate with internal team members (e.g., Sustainability, Finance, Digital Security, Branding) to capture, clarify, and translate the requirements into actionable technical solutions.

Act as the central liaison between the business, delivery partners, and vendors.

Handle vendor performance, coordinate change requests, and ensure timely delivery of services.

Participate in procurement processes, including RFPs and contract reviews where needed.

Ensure the application meets regulatory and bp compliance standards, particularly for carbon reporting.

Identify and mitigate operational risks, including transition risks during vendor changes.

Support reporting and insights generation to aid decision-making and compliance needs.

Support organizational change activities related to the application rollout, user onboarding, and communications.

Provide and supporting the user training, documentation, and partner updates.

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications) 5+ years of experience in digital product/application management, preferably in sustainability, compliance, or data-driven platforms.

Demonstrated success collaborating with multi-functional teams and third-party vendors to deliver impactful outcomes.

Well-versed in agile delivery methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks.

Knowledge of Regulatory Carbon Reporting Requirement such as GHG Protocol, EU EST, or other sustainability frameworks - sustainability reporting, or ESG-related systems is a strong advantage.

Proficient in cloud-based platforms and web technologies (e.g., React, APIs) is highly desirable.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage optimally with diverse internal and external partners.

Adept at translating business needs into clear technical requirements—and vice versa.

Capable of managing multiple priorities, timelines, and risks with structure, clarity, and transparency.

Experienced in governance frameworks, including compliance and regulatory standards.

Proactive and passionate about driving sustainability and digital transformation through innovative solutions.

Good in both independently and within collaborative, team-oriented environments.

Collaborating with the Staff Delivery Manager - Marketing Technology, - crafting the technical roadmap, driving platform integration, and ensuring operational perfection across our marketing stack. This includes participating in the design and build of new capabilities, as well as owning the ongoing performance and evolution of existing solutions.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with third-party vendors, enterprise architecture teams, and digital security collaborators to ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and defect solutions.

As a Senior Enterprise Technology Engineer, you will play a role in shaping, building and securing enterprise-wide technology solutions, ensuring their resilience, performance, and compliance. You will provide deep expertise in security, infrastructure, and operational performance, driving large-scale transformation and automation initiatives. Your role will encompass system integration, cybersecurity, and operational continuity. You will be collaborating with business and technology senior leaders and architects working to establish robust technology roadmaps, and innovative security frameworks to safeguard critically meaningful digital customer services as one team.

What You Will Deliver

• Lead enterprise technology architecture, security frameworks, and platform engineering across enterprise landscapes.
• Ensure the end-to-end security of enterprise platforms, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Drive enterprise operations performance, optimising system performance, availability, and scalability.
• Lead enterprise modernization and transformation, ensuring robust integration with enterprise IT.
• Work with vendors and partners providing market solutions to optimize the usage and value which can be delivered from the appropriate technology platform.
• Contribute to governance, security standards, and risk management strategies aligned with global security policies.
• Design and implement automated security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and identity management solutions for enterprise environments.
• Drive CI/CD, DevOps, test automation and Infrastructure-as-Code adoption for enterprise deployments.
• Ensure disaster recovery, high availability, and resilience planning for enterprise platforms.
• Engage with business leaders, technology teams, and external vendors to ensure enterprise solutions align with enterprise goals.
• Mentor and lead enterprise security and operations teams, encouraging a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise technology, security, and operations in large-scale global environments.
• Superb communication skills and ability to connect with your peers through to senior leaders.
• Deep knowledge of ITIL, Agile, and enterprise IT governance frameworks.

• Technology Specialism: Expertise in enterprise-grade MarTech platforms - focus on Aprimo or Sprinklr. Applies deep technical knowledge to the configuration, integration, and optimization of marketing technology solutions that support omnichannel campaign execution, lifecycle of the content management and intelligent workflow automation. Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or related Salesforce platforms is highly desirable.
• Operational performance: Management of continuous business outcomes, management of operational risk, availability, capacity, and management of all operational and compliance requirements of the specialist technology area.
• Project management: Applies project management principles and practice appropriate to the technology specialism to manage change to meet evolving business needs.

Contribute to governance, security standards, and risk management strategies aligned with global security policies. Design and implement automated security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and identity management solutions for enterprise environments. Drive CI/CD, DevOps, test automation and Infrastructure-as-Code adoption for enterprise deployments. Ensure disaster recovery, high availability, and resilience planning for enterprise platforms. Engage with business leaders, technology teams, and external vendors to ensure enterprise solutions align with enterprise goals. Mentor and lead enterprise security and operations teams, encouraging a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in technology, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in enterprise technology, security, and operations in large-scale global environments. Superb communication skills and ability to connect with your peers through to senior leaders. Deep knowledge of ITIL, Agile, and enterprise IT governance frameworks. A passion for emerging technology trends, security standard processes, and innovation.

Essential Skills Technology Specialism: Expertise in enterprise-grade MarTech platforms - focus on Aprimo or Sprinklr. Applies deep technical knowledge to the configuration, integration, and optimization of marketing technology solutions that support omnichannel campaign execution, lifecycle of the content management and intelligent workflow automation. Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or related Salesforce platforms is highly desirable. Operational performance: Management of continuous business outcomes, management of operational risk, availability, capacity, and management of all operational and compliance requirements of the specialist technology area. Project management: Applies project management principles and practice appropriate to the technology specialism to manage change to meet evolving business needs. Financial management: Skilled in the optimization of financial outcomes to ensure work is continually refined for the best price/risk outcome in collaboration with business partners.
