Purpose
This position is accountable for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of AP KIG’s assets. In addition, the position interfaces with the business area to ensure optimum cost and profitable operation for each facility. This position interfaces with Maintenance team, KIG team, Commercial team, Customer, AP EH&S, Operations Excellence, Technical Solutions team, HR and other functional areas to ensure flawless operation and regulatory compliance.
Nature and Scope
This is an operation management role for IG Malaysia to setup, operate, improve and sustain world class AP facilities in Kulim area.
This position directly manages and coordinates all activities associated with AP KIG’s facilities, is responsible for developing and maintaining a safe and integrity rich work environment in compliance with government requirements and company’s standards and values, to maintain Operational and Maintenance programs within budget, drive continuous improvement for Operational Excellence on Safety, People, Service, Quality, Reliability and Cost as well as support M&A and business development.
This position is responsible for formulation of and adherence to annual operations budget, conformance with established goals and objectives. This position is directly accountable to lead the organization to a level of performance identifiable with World Class organizations.
Principal Accountabilities
- Safety leadership to deliver company people safety goal (behaviors) and responsible for Process safety management implementation (improve conditions) in production plants for world-class safety performance.
- As key contributor to participate in formulating and administering IG Malaysia Operations policies and developing long range goals and objectives. This includes the direction, focus, and visualization of activities in responsible departments to further the overall progressive goals and objectives and monitor their progress.
- Provide leadership in continuous improvement activities and successfully enable scalability to achieve our goals of meeting quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Direct the company's production activities to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained to produce quality products within budgetary guidelines and achieve productivity improvement targets
- Accountable to ensure products meet or exceed customer quality standards and required delivery schedules are met.
- Formulate processes to enable relevant management systems in place such as ISO9001 or any certification deemed fit by the company. Also to lead in the maintenance of all relevant certifications and quality assurances related system for the production plants.
- Coordinate with Plant Project engineering and Maintenance Engineering efforts to ensure production facilities and equipment are adequately designed, built and maintained. The emphasis will be on highly reliable plant operations and creating strategies to reduce capital, labor and material costs and pursuit maintenance excellence
- Facilitating team decision on Improving and Simplifying current working process, especially cross-functional working process and create new ones if there is not clear-- to have formal management system and clear work process with RACI chart in place, to smooth the productivity projects
- Facilitate Risk Evaluation and decision-making process to take calculated risk to support business decision making.
- Manage quality requirement especially for e-Ton, implement best practice from the region.
- Working on improving Conducts of Operation and implementing Operation discipline program in production site, bring BRP (basically reliability program) into formal management system, benchmarking best practice of industrial operation management system.
- Develop talents and organization to support Growth and drive Operations Safety, Reliability and Efficiency.
- Accountable to ensure all AP assets and operations under care are always complying to national and local legislative requirement.
- Ensuring safe and reliable operations via continuous review and monitor operation of all sites under care to ensure procedures are up to date with latest AP best practices and approved procedures.
- Facilitate audits processes to assess the compliances of AP On site operations activities against to AP’s standard or relevant applicable standards (i.e., ISO standards, AP Corporate EHS audits, customer audits, etc).
- Accountable to manage the site general activities, inclusive but not limited to manage the site security activities and other compliances requirement (i.e., renewal of business licensing, fire certificates with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia)
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree related to Engineering. Process Industry, Operation management, advanced degree on engineering, business management and ASU experience will be a plus.
- Senior Engineer/Manager with at least 7 years of experience in Process/Production/Operation, with recent years experience in Industrial Gas manufacturing (ASU Plant).
- Preferably 2-3 years in people management.
- Those without any relevant and direct academic qualification but with at least 12 years of proven track record and working experience in Industrial Gas plant operations can also be considered.
- Deep knowledge on EHS compliance in Chemical /Process Industrial, like OSHA, PSM and DOSH
- Candidate who exhibits characteristics of a leader who is determined, results oriented, persuasive, and a strong communicator
- Ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve significant results
- Ability to influence, negotiate and gain commitment at all organization levels
- Possess high professional ethics, good judgment, and ability to take decisive action
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Previous experience/strong understanding of the P&L and of financial and accounting practices will be an added advantage.

Role Description

- Review inventory level and material specifications and provide recommendations for improvement to ensure stock adequacy and effectiveness.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain effective business relationships with all relevant internal departments and external contractors with highest standards of business ethics, whilst promptly attending to all critical technical issues in-order to ensure the services required by the organization are delivered in the most effective manner.
- Internal stakeholders include and not limited to Solar O&M, Asset Management, Finance, Procurement, Sustainability, Human Resource etc. while external stakeholders include and not limited to power off-taker, grid operator, the Energy Commission, local authorities and government agencies, OEM, contractors, and vendors, and insurance broker.
Contracts and Documentation Management
- Ensure the plant permits, licenses, contracts and insurances are valid and renewed in a timely manner.
- Prepare and submit routine operational reports or updates, annual budgets, annual operation plan (AOP) and purchase recommendations to the Management and Board of Directors.
- Responsible to ensure monthly performance report submission to the Energy Commissions and other plant operational information submissions as required by lenders, government authorities, insurance broker etc.
- Develop, review periodically and maintain plant policies and procedures.
- All documentation is to be properly controlled, maintained in the Company’s server and plant for softcopy and hardcopy respectively, and retrievable.
Human Capital Development
- Provide technical guidance to plant O&M team in troubleshooting critical problems or equipment breakdown, fault diagnosis and review and implementation of improvement actions based on outcome of root cause analysis.
- Device soft skills and technical competencies development plan for plant staff for their individual progression.
- Technical Support

As a Finance Manager, you will be responsible for.
Planning and Budgeting:
- Job duties include preparation of quarterly forecasts, annual outlook, close activities and various other ad hoc analyses.
- The role will be responsible for accurate financial consolidation and analysis to make recommendations to management based on findings and results.
- Lead monthly analysis on the gross margin/MVAR to completely understand variances of actual results, identifying and quantifying trends that can be expected to continue and one-time impacts.
- Provide financial support, analysis and recommendations on all aspects of Operations Finance including but not limited to productivity, capacity analysis, inventory, scrap, costing, fixed expenses, and cycle counts.
- Coordinate and drive the forecast and budget process.
- Partner with Ops team in preparation/validation of and follow up on Capital Equipment Requests (CER).
- Perform analysis and reporting on inventory, work order variances, PPV, and subcontracting/outside vendors.
- Lead/support a full annual physical inventory.
Drive activities to continuously improve KPI:
- Review and approve savings projects and monitor achievement.
- Effectively partner with Operations, Commercial Finance, Controlling, BU Finance, FP&A, and other Operations Finance colleagues.
GAAP/IFRS/Ethics Compliance & Internal Control:
- Perform tasks in compliance with IFRS to maintain a strong control environment for accurate statement of balance sheet and P&L.
- Support aspects of asset management including asset capitalization/disposal efforts, intercompany asset transfers and overall inventory accuracy.
- Front line role includes educating and training to different Depts
- Zero tolerance for compliance missteps-Understand compliance programs
- Case lesson learn and corrective action and sharing
- Internal Audit/Compliance key contact window
- DoA/SoD review and updates
People Management:
- Build-up new team for new expansion needed
- Coach mindset of self-assessment and analysis in advance for all kinds of reporting, try to prepare reports from customer perspective (BU Finance, Ops, PM Finance)
- Effectively communicate with team through a routine cadence of meetings
- Encourage team do sharing during dept meeting, encourage open mindset to release full potential
- In order to achieve targeted team performance and retain talent.
What you already have.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
- Master’s Degree / MBA preferred.
- 5+ years Controlling experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical skill
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Competence with Microsoft Office Package required
- Knowledge of SAP ERP software strongly preferred

About the role
- The Supply Chain Manager works under the Plant Manager. He or she is responsible for all activities related to local Supply Chain: Warehouse and Transportation, Production Scheduling, Material Releasing. He or she must assure the integrity of the inventory accuracy. Must ensure that all activities concerning replenishment, handling and warehousing of the raw materials, packaging supplies and finish goods for the plants are properly done. His or her overall responsibility and authority includes making decision on all re-engineering procedures and processes for the local supply chain activities.
Key responsibilities include
Inventory Management
- Assure the use of company assets by managing production lot sizes and supplier replenishment
- Assure inventory budget targets of raw and packaging material and finish goods
- Ensure that all raw and packaging material and finish goods inventory is properly engineered and linkage with planning is properly communicated
- Ensure inventory accuracy; work directly with Finance Controller on investigating/balancing material usage variances
- Work directly with Quality Assurance team to minimize block & rework inventories
- Manage reception of all goods at the site
- Manage conformance of shipment with Bill of Lading
- Manage JIT deliveries to production lines
- Coordinate the control and variances of the inventory differences
- Manage MRP recommendations and ensures availability of raw and packaging material
- Assures the processes of the replenishment and return of material related to supplier quality issues
- Responsible to ensure supplier delivery, reliability and quantity compliance; addresses various issues as they occur
- Communicates weekly our future material requirements with suppliers
- Ensures that production scheduling is in line with customer requirements in order to meet the customer demand
- Manages MRP recommendations of finish goods products and ensures that production scheduling optimizes the utilization of the production equipment
- Works closely with Central Planning in resolving with the scheduling department the different issues related to product shortages
- Optimize runtime of production lines to maximize output while servicing orders
Finance
- Knows and understands the financial report related to his or her local activities
- Works with Supply Chain Director on the preparation of the labor and expenses budget
- Explains monthly variances to his or her budget
