Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Planner will assist in the Quarterly, Monthly and Daily planning processes to help ensure optimal plans are established for the manufacturing of products such that materials can be purchased, arrive as desired and manufacturing is able to build the right product at the right time to ultimately fill customer orders on time in the most cost- effective manner and maintain the desired level of inventory.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Request and /or generate production orders for assemblies and sub-assemblies according to the build plan requirement.
  • Make the analysis of the build plan requirement vs current capacity, in order to escalate if there is any constraint.
  • Supports the forecasting process to define the overall demand plan. Ensures that the agreed upon demand plan is loaded in Rapid Response and other production planning tools are developed and maintained to support the timely production of product to meet customer requirements and maintain the desired amount of inventory.
  • Helps develop new product production demand plans to support new product launch plans while minimizing scrap of phased out products.
  • Collaborates, builds and maintains relationships with business partners (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Document Control, Engineering, Finance, Purchasing, Production Planning, Quality Assurance) to gain insight on requirements to sales activities, market trends and capacity status such that the best possible plans can be developed and executed.
  • Monitors and reports forecast accuracy, implementing necessary action items to drive improvement.
  • Works closely with the Mexicali team to track and improve the demand plan vs. capacity requirements to ensure the company is growing the capacity to meet the demand requirements.
  • Works closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Production and Distribution to coordinate the implementation of change orders, ensure production happens in a timely manner and specific customer orders are shipped on time.
  • Identifies forecast issues, trends and gaps and conducts analysis. Results are discussed with the SCM Manager, Sales and Operations Planning to improve the overall S&OP process
  • Performs special projects as requested.
  • Any activity related to the supply chain.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Above 3 years of experience within the Supply Chain Planning process;
  • Must have an excellent understanding of Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Inventory Management, Consumer Service and Distribution
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of demand forecasting principles, an excellent understanding of supply chain and how the forecast impacts the downstream business areas;
  • Must have very strong quantitative, statistical and analytical skills; Must have strong numerate, analytical and critical thinking skills; and have the demonstrated ability to evaluate whether a result is sensible or not; Able to translate word problems into mathematical equations;
  • Must have the ability to synthesize and filter inputs from multiple resources to key in on the important influences which will impact future demand;
  • Must have excellent communication skills; listening, writing and speaking and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess very good negotiating skills where desirable results are realized without damaging relationships;
  • Must have excellent Project Management skills;
  • Must be organizationally agile, working through both formal and informal networks to get necessary demand inputs;
  • Must be able to consider both micro and macro levels; internal and external forces as it relates to forecast.
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of management.
  • Must be systems savvy, have experience with software applications and be highly proficient with Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a continuous improvement environment
  • Warehouse and Inventory control prior experience in manufacturing facility

Education

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Statistics, Economics Operations, Business or Marketing is required.

Physical requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Some local travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver’s license is required.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Plans, organizes, controls and executes a production schedule for a designated product or products including program coordination. Develops production schedules based on actual and forecasted customer demand, product demand profiles and knowledge of the customer. Analyzes inputs (e.g., capacity, board cycle times, urgency of request, material availability, etc.) to help determine schedule. Analyzes internal impact (e.g., line scheduling, procurement, logistics, shipping, etc.) of customer scheduling. Ensures quality and integrity of information used to generate materials requirements plan. Revises plans as required based on analysis of actuals versus plan. Manages issues associated with engineering changes to ensure minimal cost exposure, excess materials and risk to customer shipment. Participates in the introduction of new products and supports the transfer/de-transfer of existing products through planning and analyzing of common and unique materials in support of project deadlines. Communicates information on materials availability to support build plans throughout the product life cycle. Maintains knowledge of customer volume fluctuations and determines the materials required. Provides information to procurement on demand variances. Develops and communicates short- and long-term commitments to customers to ship products. Coordinates necessary resources to meet shipment commitments. Reviews and reports on aggregate levels of product inventory, inventory exposure, backlog, availability and on-time delivery. Develops recovery plans if missed shipments occur. Leads continuous improvement of planning processes. Facilitates development of processes and best practice models for outbound order fulfillment. Position Overview

We are seeking Demand Planners, who would like to join our journey of reaching ‘Planning Excellence’ and become the Planning Centre of Excellence. The Demand Planner is responsible for all demand planning activities (forecasting and ordering), maintaining the optimum balance between service levels (stock availability), cash (stock levels) and replenishment costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build Sales forecasts for regions assigned, integrating commercial targets (financial planning, store openings), launch plans, events, seasonality, trends, and products lifecycle.
  • Closely work with local Demand Planning Manager to ensure local knowledge is incorporated into the forecasting model.
  • Actively participates in S&OP process to align all services on sales forecasts, financial plan, launch and animation plans
  • Actively communicates situation on slow moving products / discontinued products to the S&M team to determine inventory reduction plans (markdown operations, returns to vendor etc.) and to ensure minimal ageing stock.
  • Conducts regular reviews with key brands to share the OSA, supplier fill rate and stock situation, and brainstorm on improvement plans.
  • Participate in building a strong foundation and process for Demand sensing & prediction including business intelligence & insight, by working with different scenarios and take different business aspects into consideration.
  • Defines action plans to improve processes, methods, and tools, and monitor their implementation.
  • Co-ordination of best practice implementation and adherence through process health-checks
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of Demand Planning related trainings to Demand Planning community
  • Delivering training and coaching across the planning related functions and at key interfaces

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a preference in supply chain management, mathematics and/or statistics or engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability with 4+ years of experience in a Supply Chain environment within demand management and digitalization will be appreciated.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of SAP, Advanced Planning Systems, and data analytic tools with a passion for digital innovation
  • Advanced proficiency with Access and Excel - creating queries and performing complex quantitative analysis to detect correlation and patterns in the data. Knowledge in VBA, Query or Power BI is a plus.
  • Critical thinking to understand the big picture and connect the dots with all organizational layers and ongoing projects/improvements.
  • High level of interpersonal/relationship skills with the ability to communicate optimally with colleagues and management.
  • Analytical capability and data modeling skills; the capability to work with large datasets and develop diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics models.
  • Team player, proactive, and committed to providing high-quality work to support everyone's needs.

Job Summary

What a typical day looks like :

  • Checking the possibility of the order fulfillment based on the available resources (materials, employees, equipment’s etc.), confirmation of the order.
  • Preparation of production plans, input of planning data into the integrated computer system of the company, notification of the purchasing group.
  • Monitoring, control of implementation of plans, starting necessary actions in case of deviations
  • Preparation of long-term plans, forecasts (MPS, Forecast).
  • Monitoring of system accuracy in daily/weekly bases /General Item data, routing, BOM, CFT data /non-consumed demand, planned WO's.
  • Preparing of Clean to build reports, checking the material availability, replanning if necessary, informing of order desk, ECO implementation tracing.
  • Monitoring of stock level, handling of stock differences.
  • Preparing management and CFT specificized reports, monitoring of KPI's.
  • Giving assistance, replacement in certain cases to SCM and Order desk within the CFT.
  • Advises non-exempt associates regarding day-to-day priority of customer requests.
  • Monitors and proactively addresses issues that impact performance to committed ship date (CSD), lead-time, response time, and inventory goals.
  • Coordinates and manages high-visibility and/or important customer programs.
  • May include initial customer or product startup initiatives or large customer programs.
  • Coordinates with Master Scheduler to manage product life cycle and related materials availability issues.
  • Drives process improvements inside and outside the area of Order Management.
  • Provides input to management, reschedules, and /or interfaces with customer program management, master scheduling, customers, and production control to reschedule production in the event of design changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.
  • Represents Order Management on various Customer Focus Teams.
  • May also help inventory control, supply chain management, material planning, and scheduling.

Job Description

The Demand Planner creates a forecast for future sales volumes and plans demand volumes to optimize service levels for the country/Marketing and Sales Unit (MSU). The demand planner is part of the Supply Chain organization supporting the MSU. Some of the key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Create a demand forecast representing the prognosis of future shipments to customers based on historical trends and planned activities and events. The Demand planner applies continuous improvement techniques to improve Forecast accuracy & Forecast bias KPI measurements.
  • To create the demand forecast: The demand planner works in close collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Finance and regional planning to create a plan to maximize business performance; Plans match MSU strategic plans, delivering high service level and low cost.
  • Optimizing service level for the country/MSU by communicating product availability (including New Product Developments)
  • Identifying & resolving service risks, with escalation to the Regional Supply Planner for decision-making in case of stock shortages or inventory excess
  • Provide safety stock setting proposals to Regional Supply Planning (in case of principal MSU).
  • Deliver input to the monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP) meetings and align the forecast with agreed actions.
  • Monitor slow moving, obsolete and aging stocks and propose improvement actions for approval by Regional Supply Planning (in case of principal MSU).
