Skilled and experienced Database Administrator responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of various database systems. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure the security, availability, and integrity of our data.

• Day-to-Day Activities : Fulfill service tickets assigned by the DBA Lead. Plan and coordinate service requests with stakeholders, including application, infrastructure, security, service providers, and others. Handle necessary service request tickets for both BAU and projects.
• Provide build and BAU support for various databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MariaDB, Yugabyte, and PostgreSQL. Familiarity with ExaCC and management consoles like OEM and OCI is preferred. Exposure to Exadata and other Oracle technologies, such as Oracle Business Suites, is advantageous.
• Ensure timely closure of all service requests and compliance with change management processes. Respond to, support, and resolve after-hours project activities or incident tickets as necessary.
• Database Design and Implementation : Create and maintain database structures to store and organize data efficiently as required by the respective applications, based on provided scripts and structure information.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization : Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance. Use available tools to run diagnostics and address potential performance issues. Plan periodic tuning exercises with the respective application teams.
• DB Recovery : Develop and implement recovery plans to protect data from loss or corruption and address any recovery-related requests.
• Security Management : Ensure data security by implementing access controls, encryption, and other security measures to protect sensitive information, including periodic hardenings for databases. Decide which patches are suitable for the environment, ensure proper installation of patches, conduct system testing after installation, and complete all relevant documentation.
• Database Maintenance : Perform regular maintenance tasks such as updating database software, applying patches, and optimizing database configurations. Evaluate and determine the necessity of non-security patches.
• Incident Support : Provide support to users by troubleshooting database-related issues, adhering to system criticality-based recovery timelines, and assisting with queries.
• Capacity Planning : Plan for future database growth and ensure the infrastructure can handle increased data loads. Collaborate with various teams, including application, solution architects, service management, and project teams, to ensure optimal capacity availability in the system.
• Compliance and Auditing : Ensure databases comply with relevant regulations and standards and participate in required internal and external audits to maintain compliance.
• Participation in Various Forums : Actively participate in meetings that require DBA input. Plan and present DBA BAU activities to relevant stakeholders.
• Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
• Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
• Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.

We are looking for people who

• Possess Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certification in database administration, especially Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, DB2, Yugabyte, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB.
• Strong understanding of database design, implementation, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization.
• Experience with backup and recovery procedures.
• Knowledge of data security and encryption techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in SQL and database query languages.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
• Experience with database migration tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
• Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools.
• Ability to use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCC).

About This Role

This role will be responsible for Database Administrator position for the Global DBA team at the Malaysia Office. This is a MS SQL Server DBA role largely responsible for providing operational database services to the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Primary responsibilities of this role includes owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents andrequests within provided SLAs, reviewing service related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance,monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within establishedSLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to comeup with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
• High sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.
• The Production DBA Team is required to follow an on-site/on-call rotation including weekends to support theproduction environment.
• This on-call rotation includes DBA’s from USA and Spain to help provide 24 by 7 coverage, and to ensure thatat least 1 DBA is always on-site/on-line from each shift.
• This position is a hybrid remote position (must be in office at least 3 times per week) and will be in the USA DBA second shift (from 7AM to 4PM Malaysia time) with a rotating on-call weekend Standby schedule during the same period of 7AM to 4PM Malaysia time
  
  

Position Requirements

• At least 4 years experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA in SQL Server 2016 and above
• Experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups
• Experience with SQL Server Replication.
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization using monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues in stability, performance and/or availability.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration/Reporting Services.
• Experience/knowledge of Log Shipping
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
• Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts via TSQL or PowerShell.
• Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.
• Proactive monitoring of databases both from a stability, availability, performance and capacity management perspective.
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking/deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, data replication issues etc.
• Experience with using Server Side Traces and Extended Events to help troubleshoot performance bottlenecks
• Ability to detect and troubleshoot and resolve database related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention issues.
• Experience supporting and managing SQL databases in a 24x7 production environment with sizes larger than 2 TB
• Familiarity with release, source control and change management principles and processes.
• Proficiency in capturing and analyzing requirements, presenting alternative solutions, recommending the appropriate design, developing the solution to meet the requirements and exceed customer expectation and maintaining the required documentation.
• Excellent organizational and workflow skills; ability to work on simultaneous projects with diverse working groups
• Team player with collaborative nature
• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision in operational database projects
• 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of productivity tools and software

Primary responsibilities of this role includes owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents andrequests within provided SLAs, reviewing service related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance,monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within establishedSLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to comeup with strategic solutions to recurring problems. High sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes. The Production DBA Team is required to follow an on-site/on-call rotation including weekends to support theproduction environment. This on-call rotation includes DBA’s from USA and Spain to help provide 24 by 7 coverage, and to ensure thatat least 1 DBA is always on-site/on-line from each shift. This position is a hybrid remote position (must be in office at least 3 times per week) and will be in the USA DBA second shift (from 7AM to 4PM Malaysia time) with a rotating on-call weekend Standby schedule during the same period of 7AM to 4PM Malaysia time

Position Requirements

At least 4 years experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA in SQL Server 2016 and above Experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups Experience with SQL Server Replication. Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization using monitoring and troubleshooting tools Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues in stability, performance and/or availability. Experience with SQL Server Integration/Reporting Services. Experience/knowledge of Log Shipping Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server. Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics. Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts via TSQL or PowerShell. Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations. Proactive monitoring of databases both from a stability, availability, performance and capacity management perspective. Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking/deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, data replication issues etc. Experience with using Server Side Traces and Extended Events to help troubleshoot performance bottlenecks Ability to detect and troubleshoot and resolve database related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention issues. Experience supporting and managing SQL databases in a 24x7 production environment with sizes larger than 2 TB Familiarity with release, source control and change management principles and processes. Proficiency in capturing and analyzing requirements, presenting alternative solutions, recommending the appropriate design, developing the solution to meet the requirements and exceed customer expectation and maintaining the required documentation. Excellent organizational and workflow skills; ability to work on simultaneous projects with diverse working groups Team player with collaborative nature Ability to work independently with little to no supervision in operational database projects 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience Knowledge of productivity tools and software

Skilled and experienced Database Administrator responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of various database systems. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure the security, availability, and integrity of our data. Day-to-Day Activities : Fulfill service tickets assigned by the DBA Lead. Plan and coordinate service requests with stakeholders, including application, infrastructure, security, service providers, and others. Handle necessary service request tickets for both BAU and projects. Provide build and BAU support for various databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MariaDB, Yugabyte, and PostgreSQL. Familiarity with ExaCC and management consoles like OEM and OCI is preferred. Exposure to Exadata and other Oracle technologies, such as Oracle Business Suites, is advantageous. Ensure timely closure of all service requests and compliance with change management processes. Respond to, support, and resolve after-hours project activities or incident tickets as necessary. Database Design and Implementation : Create and maintain database structures to store and organize data efficiently as required by the respective applications, based on provided scripts and structure information. Performance Monitoring and Optimization : Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance. Use available tools to run diagnostics and address potential performance issues. Plan periodic tuning exercises with the respective application teams. DB Recovery : Develop and implement recovery plans to protect data from loss or corruption and address any recovery-related requests. Security Management : Ensure data security by implementing access controls, encryption, and other security measures to protect sensitive information, including periodic hardenings for databases. Decide which patches are suitable for the environment, ensure proper installation of patches, conduct system testing after installation, and complete all relevant documentation. Database Maintenance : Perform regular maintenance tasks such as updating database software, applying patches, and optimizing database configurations. Evaluate and determine the necessity of non-security patches. Incident Support : Provide support to users by troubleshooting database-related issues, adhering to system criticality-based recovery timelines, and assisting with queries. Capacity Planning : Plan for future database growth and ensure the infrastructure can handle increased data loads. Collaborate with various teams, including application, solution architects, service management, and project teams, to ensure optimal capacity availability in the system. Compliance and Auditing : Ensure databases comply with relevant regulations and standards and participate in required internal and external audits to maintain compliance. Participation in Various Forums : Actively participate in meetings that require DBA input. Plan and present DBA BAU activities to relevant stakeholders. Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies. • Provide advanced technical support (Level 3) on the Database platforms, maintain the operations and management for Oracle (Primary), MS SQL (Primary), MySQL (Secondary) and DB2 (Secondary) databases
• Supervise a diverse team of skilled Database administrator professionals in a fast-paced enterprise environment
• Provide work guidance and mentoring to subordinates and junior resources
• Technical SME assessment, migration or upgrade of Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL and DB2 databases
• Ensure Database administrators adhere to Great Eastern service request, incident, change, release and patch management process
• Ensure Database administrators members attend to major and critical Wintel alerts from Broadcom CA Unified Infrastructure Management monitoring platform
• Ensure day to day operations of Database maintenance, patching, hardening and service requests
• Participate in Priority 1 and 2 Incidents by directing Database administrators to perform recovery of Database related issues
• Participate and oversee Database maintenance, health check and server troubleshooting activities
• Prepare work schedules to include daily support schedules, holiday work schedules, on-call rotations and 24/7 standby support engineer duty roster to ensure adequate coverage at all times
• Prepare Incident Root Cause Analysis report for the Priority 1 and 2 critical incidents relating to Database platform
• Monitor the groups Manage Engine SDP (Service Desk plus) ticket queue to ensure all service request tickets are assigned to Database administrators and resolved within established SLAs
• Ensure proper planning and execution of GE Disaster Recovery support and Database maintenance activities
• Prepare and submit required weekly and monthly reports regarding Oracle Exadata / ExaCC capacity, issues and risks
• Perform annual performance reviews for downline staffs based agreed KPIs
• Attend to regulatory and internal audit requirements (audit artefacts preparation) and work towards remediating audit findings relating to Database platform
• Recommend and propose process improvement to improve team productivity and efficiency
• Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks
• Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
• Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices

• At least 7 years of Oracle and Microsoft database administration experience

About The Role

We're seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Database Administrator who specializes in Database administration (PostgreSQL + MySQL) and has a strong passion for IT to join our Technical Operations team due to ZFX's ongoing global expansion.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for maintaining our databases and providing assistance to our employees and projects related to database tasks, such as optimizing the database resources to align with the company's performance, redundancy, and reliability objectives.

What You'll Be Doing

• Creation and maintenance of infrastructure for PostgreSQL
• Conduct project migrations to PostgreSQL clusters
• Administration of MySQL
• Searching for non-consistent data and adding checks to prevent similar cases in the future
• Reviewing new code that relates to changes in the way the database works
• Proactive monitoring and performance troubleshooting
• Accountability for the high critical environments which should be available 24x7x365
• Development of an extensive replication scheme
• Automation for DB tasks
• Improving Database infrastructure (deploy and maintain column-oriented DB, Cloud DWH engines)
• Adherence to ITIL key principles: change management, approval procedures, etc
• Maintenance of documentation and inventory up to date
• Setting up backups, monitoring

What you'll need

• Bachelor degree or above in related disciplines
• PostgreSQL administration experience of at least 3 years
• Knowledge of creating failover database clusters for PostgreSQL
• Experience for administrative MySQL DB
• Experience in building and maintaining complex replication schemes
• TCP/IP networking skills
• Column and Document DB experience of at least 1 year (MongoDB, ClickHouse)
• Knowledge of monitoring systems such as Zabbix, Prometheus
• Experience in designing systems running continuously and uninterruptedly (24x7x365) under high load
• Understanding of the principles of operation and experience in maintaining cloud DVH storages (BigQuery)
• Experience in scripting languages (bash and/or python/perl)
• At least 3 years of Linux administration experience
• Knowledge of SQL language, and the ability to optimize PostgreSQL performance
• Proficiency in Mandarin and English

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to manage and optimize database environments across MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL platforms. This role is pivotal in ensuring database performance, high availability, and scalability across hybrid cloud infrastructures including AWS and Azure .

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration : Manage and tune MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases for performance, security, and reliability.

Cloud & RDS Management : Administer databases across hybrid cloud environments (AWS/Azure) and manage RDS instances.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery : Implement and support Always On Availability Groups (AAG) and robust backup/recovery solutions.

Performance Optimization : Continuously monitor and optimize database performance. Automate administrative tasks to improve efficiency.

Data Warehousing & ETL : Design and maintain data warehouses, SSIS packages, and support ETL processes to enable business intelligence and analytics.

Required Experience

3+ years of hands-on experience in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration.

Proven expertise in managing hybrid cloud and RDS databases (AWS/Azure).

Strong command of high availability configurations, especially Always On Availability Groups .

Experience with ETL processes , SSIS , and performance tuning strategies.

Preferred Skills
