The role of a Sales Development Representative at Canonical

What your day will look like

  • Handle inbound customer inquiries across email, phone and chat
  • Execute outbound sales & marketing campaigns
  • Travel to events and conferences worldwide, presenting on booths and driving face-to-face marketing and sales opportunities
  • Collaborate across multiple teams and senior stakeholders to drive results
  • Work directly with marketing on campaigns
  • Research information about prospective customers
  • Generate a multi-million pound pipeline
  • Identify prospects and market trends
  • Help define the processes and policies for the team
  • Liaise with new and existing customers, setting up and attending meetings whilst actively mapping accounts to identify new opportunities

Purpose

To drive SensorFlow’s revenue pipeline by leading all lead generation initiatives, including outbound prospecting, digital and email campaigns, and strategic referrals. This role plays a critical bridge between Sales and Marketing, building high-quality hotel leads, nurturing demand, and accelerating top-of-funnel growth across key markets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Own and execute all lead generation strategies with Marketing , including:

    4. Strategic partner referrals and customer referral programmes
  2. Design and manage outreach playbooks

  3. Collaborate with Strategic Accounts & Sales
    1. Align targeting, qualify leads, and ensure follow-up cadence converts into Sales Qualified Leads (SQL).

  5. Continuously test and optimise campaign performance

We are looking for a dynamic Sales Development Representative who is highly driven, tenacious, creative, and works well under pressure. What You Will Be Doing

  • Quickly learn the product, and value proposition and be able to react to objections and answer questions
  • Develop and execute a strong prospecting plan of action, including LinkedIn outreach, email, and cold calls
  • Research accounts, identify key players, generate interest, and develop accounts to stimulate opportunities through systems such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and Apollo
  • Effectively communicate our value proposition through outbound calls

  • Experience using CRM systems such as HubSpot or Salesforce is strongly desired

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Job Summary:

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), you will be responsible for generating new business opportunities by identifying and qualifying potential customers. You will work closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement strategies to engage prospective clients. Your primary goal is to create a robust sales pipeline by setting up qualified meetings and demos for the sales team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead Generation: Research and identify potential customers through various channels, inbound and outbound, including cold calling, emailing, social media, and networking.
  2. Qualifying Leads: Engage with prospects to understand their needs, challenges, and budget, ensuring they align with the company's product or service offerings.
  3. Outbound Prospecting: Conduct high-volume outreach to potential clients through phone calls, emails, and other communication channels.
  4. CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of leads, contacts, and interactions in the CRM system. Track and update the progress of leads through the sales pipeline.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to refine messaging, improve lead generation strategies, and ensure alignment in targeting.
  6. Scheduling Meetings: Arrange and schedule meetings or demos between qualified leads and the sales team.
  7. Product Knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, services, and value proposition to effectively communicate with prospects.
  8. Performance Metrics: Meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) such as call volume, lead generation, and conversion rates.
Qualifications:
  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Experience: Previous experience in sales, customer service, or a similar role is preferred but not required.
  3. Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • High level of resilience, motivation, and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (Hubspot) and other sales tools.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the industry and the company’s products/services is a plus.
