We are currently sourcing a Principal Risk and Safety Consultant to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will be accountable for Technical Safety Engineering including design, specification and services. You’ll provide discipline conceptual, front end and detailed design input to Petro-Chemical, oil and gas projects and technical studies; engineering support to the construction/commissioning phases; and maintenance and operation as required.
Position Specifics & Deliverables
· Manage the execution of technical safety work scopes in the pre-FEED, FEED and Execute Phases of Projects
· Provide direction and technical guidance to subordinates to support project delivery
· Review and approve technical safety engineering deliverables
· Input to work scopes, estimates and schedules
· Facilitate technical safety workshops (e.g. HAZID & ALARP) with multidisciplinary teams
· Support the assurance process for closure of safety related actions
· Undertake formal safety assessments and input to the preparation of safety cases
· Prepare specifications and vendor document reviews for safety equipment and systems
· Actively participate in workshops including HAZOPs, LOPAs, Design Reviews and Constructability Reviews
· Liaise with client subject matter experts/technical authorities
· Manage technical deviations in accordance with established procedures.
· Input to the management of change processes
Skills / Qualifications
· An engineering degree with a minimum of 12years of experience
· Experience working on upstream and downstream oil and gas projects including offshore developments in SEA and the North Sea.
· Proven leadership skills
· Experience in the following areas:
· Concept Select/Definition, FEED and Detailed Design
· Application of ALARP and inherent safety in design principles
· Formal Safety Assessment and Safety Case Preparation
· Design and specification of safety systems and equipment (including F&G detection, hazardous area classification, active/passive fire protection, escape/evacuation systems)
· Familiarity with local and international safety regulations, safety engineering codes and standards and industry good practice
· Brownfields engineering experience will be an advantage
