Assess situations for need of information or support to maintain health and safety. Implement teaching plans that are specific to the patient’s level of development and knowledge. Supports and reinforce the teaching plans of the other health professional. Include the family members into the care of the patients when providing health education to gain co-operation and better outcome. 6. Maintain a safe, therapeutic and condusive environment:

Responsible for the cleanliness and up keeping of the department, furniture and fittings. Ensure the use of equipment is according to the instruction and recommended safe practices. Ensure the appropriate level of noise is maintained within the department to promote healing for the patients. Promote and maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients. Responsible for total patient care, including medication, orders and treatments. Assists the physicians in performing any procedures. Responds immediately in emergency situation. Participates in or initiates CPR and Codes when necessary. Accepts responsibilities delegated by the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse and evaluates the nursing care provided in the area assigned. Provides leadership in the interpretation and application of the philosophy and objective of nursing service in assigned area. Performs patient care within the principles of Nursing team, reporting pertinent observations or complaints to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse. Maintain the patient’s clinical records. Keep all information of patients in the strictest confidence. Administer medications according to hospital policy. Attend and support education programs. To initiate resuscitation before the arrival of the Doctor during Code Blue.

To detect abnormal lab investigation results and notify the attending Doctor.

To be responsible and ensure accurate charging is carried out at every shift in HIS and charge sheet.

Ensure “Last Office” is carried out properly in accordance to patient’s religious beliefs and customs.

Requirements

Proven experience and certification as a registered nurse.

Valid nursing license and

hospital's nurse background preferred.

Minimum 3 years experience.

Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods, procedures & emergency care.

In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all time.

The Registered Nurse – Operating Room serves as the patient advocate while the patient is most vulnerable.

The circulating nurse is responsible for managing all nursing care within the operating room, observing the surgical team from a broad perspective, and assisting the team to create and maintain a safe, comfortable environment for the patients immediately prior to and during operative procedures.

The circulating nurse is also responsible for coordinating activities in the event of an emergency. In short, the circulating nurse is the ‘critical thinker,’ preparing for and responding to all situations that affect patient care and safety throughout operative procedures.

The Registered Nurse will assist with patient care within his/her scope of practice as outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of the Cayman Islands and in accordance with the Policies and Procedures of CTMH Doctors Hospital. Scrub Nurse:

Provide nursing care for patients within the operating department and recovery room.

Perform operating room unit work in accordance with agreed standards and policies.

Carry out safety checks of swabs, instruments and needles in conjunction with a second nurse and completes appropriate written and verbal communication to all relevant parties.

Perform as a circulating member of the operating room team.

Participate in Surgical Safety Checklist (briefing, time out, debriefing)

Check labels and dispatch specimens to the laboratory for testing.

Recover patients after surgery according to CTMH DH policy and procedures, and complete necessary documentation.

Provide assistance to the Anesthetist, scrub nurse, and surgical team.

Assures patient comfort and safe transference of patient from stretcher/wheelchair to operating table and vice versa.

Assist other members of the team in preparing and cleaning the operating room.
