The Core Support Faculty will be comprised of a Senior Research Fellow, a Bioinformatics Specialist and a Clinical Research Co-Ordinator / Clinical Research Assistant (clinical study recruitment, ethical approvals, data collection and management, sample acquisition, this role). The successful applicant for this role will be expected to work closely with the other Core Support Faculty members, establishing a strong team working environment with productivity, collaboration and service as key operating parameters. In the role of Clinical Research Coordinator and Research Assistant, the applicant will work across the NUS and NUH campuses to support nascent research projects run by investigators in the Department. A key part of this role (and the Core Support Faculty generally) is to develop the preliminary data, publications, funding applications and investigator expertise necessary to launch the careers of world-leading clinician and basic scientists working in obstetric and gynaecological research.
Appointments will be made on a one (1) year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for very high performing staff.
Purpose of the post
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has established a Core Support Faculty to drive research productivity and opportunity for emerging researchers. A key focus of the Core Support Faculty is to promote the careers and productivity of junior investigators (both clinician scientists and translationally-focused basic scientists). Key deliverables for the role will be the rapid generation of high-impact publications, the rapid receipt of competitive grant funding, a rapid increase in the uptake of higher research degree candidacies (especially PhDs), the provision of technical training to the Department, and the support of clinical trials.
The successful applicant will report to the Director of Research, and work closely with a range of junior investigators from a broad cross-section of obstetric and gynaecological disciplines. The Successful applicant will be expected to work closely with senior members of the Department, including Visiting Professors. The successful applicant for this role will be expected to work closely with the other Core Support Faculty members, establishing a strong team working environment with productivity, collaboration and service as key operating parameters.

Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Research Assistant will be responsible for:
- Oversee the general management of delegated projects;
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to delegated projects, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other members of the research team and collaborate with the study sites and other stakeholders;
- Undertake the day to day running of the project(s) at the study site, e.g. Collaborate with team members at the study sites, recruitment, data collection, sample collection and management at hospital(s);
- Conduct literature searches, using SPSS to enter data, and analyse data and maintain trial database, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;
- Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
- Manage ethical submissions and on-going compliance, including PDPA;
- Play a support role in the drafting of papers and funding applications;
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask effectively while supporting multiple projects across the department;
- Coordinate grants related to Clinical Research and other types of research;
- Provide logistics and administrative support;
- Assist with any other duties that are delegated by the PI or supervisors.
The successful applicant should:
- have a Bachelor’s degree in science-related field, nursing or equivalent; CRC experience (with demonstrated track record of supporting successful studies) will be a strong advantage;
- be able to work meticulously, independently and as a team player;
- good understanding of GCP, familiarity with research-based principles; and
- have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. SPSS, MS office, PowerPoint;

Reporting to a supervisor, the successful candidate will work in a team to support operations in a laboratory animal facility according to standards and established workflows in BRC.
Responsibilities:
- Work with large equipment and machinery.
- Maintain cleaning and sanitization standards in the facility.
- Work is carried out in an environment with animal dander, waste and dust.
- Expected to uphold safety practices and procedures in the facility such as wearing of scrubs and PPE. (including masks)
- Assist in duties such as laundry and housekeeping.
Requirements:
- Preferably a National ITE Certificate with at least 3 year of experience working in a laboratory animal facility.
- Training will be provided for candidates without prior experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently and have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Required to lift 18kg bags of bedding and pull trolleys 2m in height.
- Should be comfortable being on their feet most of the day and carrying out repetitive motions.
- Should be comfortable squatting or using a step stool/ladder.
- Occasionally required to perform basic animal procedures such as handling and injections.
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse personalities.
- Able to demonstrate initiative, strong work ethic and integrity.
- Carry out other work as assigned by their supervisor and manager.

Job Description
The Signature Research Programme in Health Services and Systems Research (HSSR) at Duke-NUS is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding and delivery of health services. The programme’ s focus is on public health and clinical service innovation in an increasingly complex and connected world.
The selected candidate will join a research project and assist the Principal Investigator. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as primary study coordinator for assigned research project(s)
- Screen and recruit participants, obtain informed consent, answer participant inquiries, and act as a liaison between participants and study-related parties
- Administer study assessments
- Monitor enrollment goals and initiates strategies to promote enrollment and participant compliance
- Oversee compliance to study protocol
- Maintain participant files and study database, completes data entry and verification
- Manage quality control, completion and submission of study related documentation
- Prepare reports for IRB, funding organization, and other agencies
- Assist to develop study budgets; monitors budget expenses and billing; arranges for participant reimbursement
- Recognize, track and report adverse events and protocol deviations
- Attend weekly lab meetings with Principal Investigator and team members
- Support Principal Investigator with all study-related tasks
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in psychology, social sciences, or other related fields
- Minimum two years of research experience
- Possess exceptional organizational skills, attention to details, and demonstrated human relations and communication skills required to work with a wide network of people
- Able to function independently with knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis preferred
- Responsible for meeting recruitment targets and must be willing to operate independently in hospital and/or community settings
- Able to speak English and Mandarin for operational requirements of the position.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Possess knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and IRB regulations
- Comfortable interviewing participants about sensitive issues such as anxiety and depression
- Due to the nature of the job, successful candidate needs tobe willing and able to commit work during non-office hours (e.g. peak operating hours in clinical setting)
