Job Description

• Break down R&D planning strategies or business initiatives into key tasks and identify accountabilities by aligning communication, people, culture, processes, resources, and systems to ensure effective implementation and delivery of required results.
• Utilize economic, financial, and industry data to diagnose warehouse strengths and weaknesses, identify key issues, and develop strategies and plans.

• Fulfill internal and external customer satisfaction and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set by superiors.
• Direct and coordinate R&D activities, ensuring all new products, test runs, and presentations are arranged accordingly.
• Ensure all price changes for materials are updated in the system.
• Provide regular R&D status updates to management and facilitate timely support during new product launches.
• Propose substitute materials to management in case of stock shortages.
• Control and manage budgets, plans, and materials to ensure optimal utilization of equipment, resources, and labor to meet R&D objectives/targets.
• Continuously improve methods, effectiveness, and resource utilization; monitor R&D plans monthly in conjunction with the Ready To Eat (RTE) department.
• Perform other related tasks as deemed appropriate by management to achieve department/factory KPIs.

• Liaise with procurement and production to ensure sourcing and processing flow of R&D materials for new items are well planned and managed.
• Collaborate with production for staff training and education.
• Coordinate with subordinates regarding training needs aligned with management’s vision and mission.

• Diploma/Degree in Culinary, Hotel Management, or equivalent with over 5 years of experience in R&D at the executive level or above.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong leadership, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

About the role

We are seeking a talented Research & Development Executive to join our team at CS Progyms Pharmaceutical Sdn Bhd' in Rawang, Selangor. This full-time position will be responsible for driving innovation and developing new products that meet the evolving needs of our customers in the food technology and safety industry.

What you'll be doing

Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for new products and formulations

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop and test new food products, ensuring they meet quality, safety and regulatory standards

Optimise existing products and processes to improve efficiency, quality and cost-effectiveness

Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations and technological advancements to inform product development strategies

Document and present research findings, product specifications and recommendations to stakeholders

Provide technical support and expertise to the production and sales teams

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related scientific discipline

3-5 years of experience in a research and development role within the food or pharmaceutical industry

Manage end-to-end product development cycle for snack & noodles category; experience in food manufacturing industry is mandatory.

Responsibilities:

• Strong background in food science, chemistry, biotechnology, or relevant fields.
• In-depth knowledge of product development, formulation, and raw materials.
• Understanding of regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, Halal, HACCP, Codex, country-specific requirements).
• Ability to analyze and interpret stability studies, sensory evaluations, and shelf-life tests.
• Troubleshoot formulation, process, and production issues.
• Evaluate risks in ingredient changes, formulation adjustments, and production feasibility.

Requirements:
