The Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) Programme studies the causes and treatments of cancer and related diseases. The CSCB research groups have diverse programmes in both basic cancer biology and clinical-translational studies, with a special emphasis on cancers that affect the Asian community in general.
We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated researcher with a strong ability to manage and contribute to multiple international projects simultaneously. The selected candidate will provide leadership and expertise in conducting complex research activities within the overall scope of a research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following:
- Perform independent research projects and develop connections with local and international researchers for collaboration work.
- Independently carry out the design and execution of experimental research required by the research component of the project.
- Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research which could have a considerable influence and impact on the relevant field attracting research funding.
- Lead and manage a team for research projects.
- Apply qualitative and quantitative research techniques which include accurate in-depth assessment, interpretation and evaluation of research outcomes.
- Maintain optimal experiment progress in the laboratory or in the research work undertaken.
- Perform oral presentations and write manuscripts for publications.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers, graduate and/or undergraduate students.
- Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design and management of research activities.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
Job Requirements
- PhD in a relevant scientific field and/or post-doctoral experience in designing and conducting experimental projects, with at least 8 years of related research experience and training.
- Proven expertise in developing and applying innovative bulk and/or single-cell next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques in tissues and cell lines, complemented by integrative multi-omics data analysis.
- Experienced in characterising and analysing chromatin structural aberrations in cancers.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge, skills and expertise, with capability of leadership and achieving research excellence.
- Proven track record in the form of high impact publications.
- Demonstrated capability of research independence progressively.
- Strong writing and critical thinking skills, as well as good communication and presentation skills.
- A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.

As part of the Proteins4Singapore project, the Research Fellow will lead experimental research focused on the identification, quantification, and sensory validation of aroma-active and taste-active compounds in alternative protein products. This position combines instrumental flavour analysis (LC-MS) with sensory evaluation techniques (e.g. profiling, discrimination tests, and threshold determinations) to support the development of appealing next-generation food products. This is a fixed term contract until March 2027. Key Responsibilities Design and execute analytical workflows combining LC-MS, and sensory data to map aroma and taste compound profiles. Conduct sensory analysis of food (e.g. profiling, discrimination tests, and threshold determinations) Develop and validate analytical methods for aroma precursor and flavor compound quantification in raw and processed samples. Collaborate with experts in protein extraction and process engineering to translate analytical findings into product insights. Write scientific manuscripts, contribute to project reports, and present findings at international conferences and stakeholder meetings. Key Competencies Proven expertise in flavour chemistry, food metabolomics, or analytical chemistry with hands-on experience in LC-MS workflows. At least 1 year of experience with sensory evaluation/sensomics techniques is highly desirable.
