OVERVIEW
- The incumbent is responsible to carry out R&D projects related to new products / process, improvement & cost-saving projects from the stage of preliminary lab study to validation trials and transfer to manufacturing.
- To provide technical support in relation to new product / new material qualifications in manufacturing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- R&D / Technical Chemist is working on:
- new product development
- product improvement
- process improvement
- cost savings
- To carry out R&D projects including identifying customer requirements and defining design inputs, planning the project work and preparation of milestones, conducting lab work and plant trials including testing, monitoring, reporting and till successful transferring to manufacturing.
- To handle the technical scope and provide technical support to plant troubleshooting in resolving issues related new product development / new material / cost saving projects / new product processes.
- To work as a technical consultant in providing guidance and assistance to manufacturing plant / other departments in relation to
- material / formulation issue
- product transfer
- customer complaint investigation
customer inquiries
Attend to and resolve problems utilizing PDCA, 5W1H, 4Ms, and other good management practices
- Be RESOURCEFUL by continually keeping up to date with the developments in his/her own field and keeping abreast with issues internally and externally to identify new areas of learning, improve knowledge, and suggest/develop new ideas, products, or processes.
- Document changes in a product due to new product, product improvement, product changes, and other changes in the design control file within the time frame stipulated in KPI.
- Diligently work to ensure all new products, product improvements, process improvements, product and process changes are documented and communicated correctly using the change control procedure / WI.
- Ensure that all work activities are done in strict accordance with own department's work instructions and procedures to conform to both Hartalega's Quality and SHE system
- Work well with colleagues and stick to work-related promises made to own team and to other departments.
- All other tasks as assigned by superior.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Science - Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in research and development or quality assurance in the glove industry or relevant industry.
Technical and Professional Knowledge:
- New Product Development and Project Management skills.
- Local and International Social Compliance Standards.
- Regulatory systems, industrial standards, compliance procedures and Health, Safety and Environment policies and best practices.
