Job Description
Overview
We are seeking two Graduate Research Assistants—one specializing in organic synthesis and the other in modeling and characterization—to join a research team advancing Two-Photon Absorption Photoinitiators for nanofabrication, all-optical switching, and on-chip optical signal processing. The project involves pre-screened libraries using first-principles quantum chemical calculations, further development of materials, refinement of computational methods, and application of molecular dynamics modeling to identify strategies for minimizing polymer shrinkage during nanofabrication. Additionally, we aim to experimentally characterize the two-photon absorption cross-sections to close the gap between theoretical predictions and experimental results, ultimately enabling the implementation of a highly accurate predictive model. This research supports next-generation technologies in quantum photonic computing, on-chip optical signal processing, and all-optical switching through 3D photolithography.
Responsibilities- Advance materials development and refinement of computational methods for two-photon absorption photoinitiators.
- Apply molecular dynamics to identify strategies to minimize polymer shrinkage in nanofabrication.
- Experimentally characterize two-photon absorption cross-sections to align theory with experiment.
- Contribute to building a predictive model for material performance in nano- and photonic applications.
- Two positions: one in organic synthesis ; one in modeling and characterization.
- Strong background in organic synthesis or computational modeling/characterization as relevant.
- Experience with first-principles quantum chemical calculations is a plus; familiarity with molecular dynamics is desirable.
- Motivation for interdisciplinary research in quantum photonic technologies.
