Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Leader specializing in solar project development and technical advisory services to serve as a Regional Subject Matter Expert (SME). The role involves overseeing client projects across the entire lifecycle-from development to operational optimization-and includes the opportunity to build and lead a team of experts as the company expands.
Key Requirements:
+ 10+ years in renewable energy, with a focus on solar energy
+ Expertise in energy yield analysis, performance benchmarking, and feasibility assessments
+ Strong technical leadership and client-facing skills to drive project decisions
This role offers the chance to join a global advisory team and grow with the company's expansion in the region.
+ Act as the Regional SME, ensuring technical excellence within the team and across all projects.
+ Support clients during all phases of a project, including pre-investment, development, construction, and operations.
+ Provide expert review and sign-off on Energy Yield Assessments (EYAs) and long-term energy forecasts.
+ Lead internal training programs and mentor junior engineers to improve team capabilities.
+ Work closely with commercial, legal, and project management teams to create client proposals and define project scopes.
+ Represent the organization at industry events, client meetings, and technical panels.
+ Innovate by developing new methods and tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our technical assessments.
+ Conduct peer reviews of deliverables to maintain consistency and technical quality.
+ Write technical whitepapers and industry articles to strengthen the company's brand and expertise.
+ Travel moderately (20-25%) for site visits and client meetings across the APAC region or globally.
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
+ At least 10 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with a focus on solar technical advisory, consulting, or project development.
+ Proficiency in solar modeling and analysis software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope. PVCase) is highly preferred.
+ Strong understanding of SCADA data analysis and operational performance assessments.
+ Proven experience in client engagement, writing technical reports, and leading complex advisory projects.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to clients.

  • Language Proficiency:Proficient in spoken and written English; conversational proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia.

Experience with AUTOCAD software or switchyard primary design CAD software . Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as IEC, IEEE, and UL. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in specific applications, such as power grids, power plants and substations. knowledge in specific medium and high voltage substation switchyard design, products and substation ancillary equipment. Experience with field testing and commissioning of medium and high voltage systems. Certification in high voltage safety practices. Impact Lives by Bringing Energy Access to Communities That Need It the Most This role offers a unique opportunity to

actively contribute to energy access in Malaysia . You’ll gain hands-on experience working on

real-world off-grid energy projects , helping to design and implement solutions that make a tangible difference. This is not a typical solar industry job.

You must really want to do this work—because it will take you off-grid, into the field, and into communities where energy access is needed for equitable development. What You’ll Do Assist in

designing, testing, and optimizing

renewable energy systems. Conduct

site visits

to assess energy needs and infrastructure suitability. Participate in the

installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance

of off-grid energy systems. Analyze system performance data to

enhance reliability and efficiency . Engage with local communities to provide

training and technical support , ensuring long-term sustainability. Job Requirements

What We’re Looking For Someone who

wants to specialize in off-grid energy solutions

and is motivated to

contribute directly to rural electrification in Malaysia A degree in

Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field . Basic knowledge of

solar PV systems, microgrids, and energy storage . Work experience in designing and constructing PV systems (preferably with experience in hybrid/off-grid systems) is an

added bonus Comfortable with

fieldwork in rural areas

and hands-on problem-solving. Able to

think on your feet

to deal with the unexpected and an

ability to adapt to real-world challenges . Strong inter-personal skills

to foster

genuine connections

with communities we work with Excellent communications skills

with stakeholders, from technical partners to rural communities in both

English

and
