Position Summary
This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Systems functions within a PCB and electronic components manufacturing environment. The position ensures that all products comply with customer requirements, regulatory standards, industry certifications, and HQ Shenzhen expectations.
The successful candidate will oversee QA operations (incoming, in-process, FQA, supplier quality, customer complaints) and drive QMS compliance across multiple standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, ISO 14001, etc.). The role also requires spearheading continuous improvement initiatives, managing audits, and serving as the company's representative for quality matters with customers, suppliers, and certification bodies.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Operations
- Lead and oversee the QA department, including Incoming, In-Process, and Final Quality Assurance (FQA) operations.
- Align QA operations with corporate HQ policies and technical requirements.
- Ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective actions for customer complaints and internal non-conformances.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen to reduce defects and uplift quality performance.
- Provide monthly reporting on QA performance, KPIs, and customer quality metrics to both local management and HQ.
- Serve as the quality representative in key production, customer, and supplier meetings.
Quality Systems (QMS) & Compliance
- Maintain and enhance the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with:
i. VDA 6.3 – Process Audit Standard (automotive industry)
ii. IATF 16949 – Automotive QMS
iii. AS9100 – Aerospace QMS
iv. ISO 9001 – General Quality Management Systems
v. ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems
vi. ISO 13485 – Medical Devices Quality Management Systems
vii. ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
viii. Ecovadis – Sustainability & CSR Rating
and other customer-specific standards. - Develop, review, and update quality policies, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Support the preparation of quality documentation including Control Plans, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, and MSA.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment.
- Participate in internal audits, supplier evaluations, customer audits, and certification audits.
Supplier & Customer Quality
- Manage supplier quality performance and incoming material inspections.
- Ensure effective handling of customer complaints and corrective actions.
- Support customer quality reporting and coordinate with HQ on quality system improvements.
Team Development & Training
- Ensure QA staff are trained in quality tools, systems, and standards.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to QA team members.
- Foster a culture of quality awareness and accountability across all departments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline (Diploma acceptable for coordinator role).
- QA Manager: Minimum 5 years' experience in QA, with at least 3 years in a managerial role,preferably in PCB or EMS manufacturing.
- Must know well of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, ISO 14001, and electronics/automotive/PCB industry standards.
- Proficient in quality tools: SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP, 8D, PPAP.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Must be able to speak and write in Chinese (for HQ Shenzhen coordination).
- Good command of English and Malay.
